I totally agree with you. I’ve gotten so many comments about how much time I “waste” making my bullet journal look nice...but the thing is...I feel like I double my productivity because the creative aspect inspires me to sit down and plan. In turn, the aesthetic I’ve created for the spread inspires me to revisit my bujo and keep myself accountable to the things I’ve planned. Also, people seem to forget it’s meant to be a planner AND a journal. Instead of writing long journal entries, I summarize plans and memories into one line and decorate with the time I’ve saved. It’s one of the most efficient pastimes, in my opinion. P.S..I love the baby sounds in the background. So cute! 😊

People don't get that this type of journaling can be like meditation, especially when you reach that flow state. And for me, it's just like any other thing in life. If YOU think it's a waste of time, then YOU don't do it. Go somewhere and mind your own business and stop trying to suck the life and joy out of others. I love your videos and love the style that you have landed on. Beautiful pages.
@vickeyheisler23694 жыл бұрын
I was just going to say my journaling is a form of meditation for me as well as a passion. I also use my liplay in my journaling. I love how you can customize journaling. I think Instead of being negative about someone's style try creating your own just saying. Don't be negative on someone video, that take time out of their day to film something to inspire people. Just saying.

I love how Bullet Journaling started from such a simple and functional system, but how it’s evolved into something lots of people can customize to make it work for THEM. What works for you is what it should be. And if it gives you a way to plan AND a creative outlet that you need, then that’s awesome! Personally I can’t decorate all my pages because I fill them all up with lists and need them as functional as possible. However, I’ve started getting into magazine collages recently, and I use them at least for my yearly title pages, and I love how that looks. I can’t take tons of time every month or week, but every so often it feels really good to create something that’s not so functional 😊

Undertone, "you're obviously commenting, well you got some time." lol, yes. ….Seriously though, on the other side of this issue, I used to feel guilty spending much time on such an activity. Somehow, creating Art was one thing, but sticking pretty things on paper seemed frivolous. I'm a mother, I work, I look after a small farm, and I still 'have time' for journaling. Because I MAKE time to take care of myself and creativity is self-care for me and I'm sure for many others.I have compassion for anyone who judges any activity as a waste of time, because it means they haven't been able to give themselves that level of self-care (the same people still giving time to social media, tv shows, video games, etc). Blessings x

Sarica, I agree with you completely. I enjoy journaling and scrapbooking, I started combining the two together years ago, when the 35mm film disappeared. I really like that you (at least to something of a degree) addressed the over-complication of bullet journaling these days. I hope any watching who have been scared off by the wonderful creative work some people like to put into their journals, go, research, and give the most simple version of it a try. Because the creative aspect is just a bonus that people do if it makes them feel good - not a prerequisite for bullet journaling - nor indeed a bad thing or waste of time, if minimalist planning isn't your goal.

I agree with you how it's a form of escape. That you can channel your art and creativity through a bullet journal. I myself am barely getting into the bullet journal I first heard of these maybe a couple years ago. For me i use all sorts of washi tape and some stickers and minimal stamps. But like I said I barely am fairly new..so I'm just getting the hang of it. Maybe someday I'll think of my own theme when creating my personal bullet journal. Love the vintage theme that you do. Your handwriting is so pretty. Your videos are always pretty I recently found you about a week ago..

I tried to do the "artsy" bujo method and decorate and all of that. But, turns out that I'm an illustrator, and my whole life is creating art, so I just wanted to keep my journal as functional and minimalistic as possible. It's just about doing what works for you, some people need the artsy side of the planner to keep motivated for using it, and others like me prefer it minimal and straight to the point. But still adore to watch this videos when I'm working!

In fact, I arrived to your video because I am about to jump from bullet journal to midori. So many people tell me the same: "aw, such a waste of time / i couldn't have the time for this / I can't appreciate this work, I can't understand your need to create this when you can buy something already printed"... they just can't understand art. They can't understand that art is just something you give birth to, whatever it is: even an agenda. by the way, I love what you do. Keep journaling. CS
