@@numberhunter62 I guess we are splitting hares on when he wanted the smoke. I would say it is when he let himself be known to all the Samurai. He could have tried to keep it stealth until Karin zeroed in on Danzo, but he chose to start killing people. But when do you think he decided he wanted the smoke? When he fought the samurai, the Raikage, when he appeared in the middle of a room of kage's, or after all the kage's handed him his ass? He had options in each one of those moments, but he kept his head in that pit sucking up all the smoke. Also if someone breaks into a facility and tells the security guards that if they come at him, he'll kill them .... to me seems like a call to action and bringing unnecessary attention to yourself i.e. wanting the smoke.

My thing with Sasuke is how they just boost his power when need be with little to no explanation. He gets as fast as rock Lee in like a month, he gets put in the coffin in the sasuke retrieval arc just so he can reasonably compete with Naruto, his string of fights in shippuden is a mess because he barely wins or loses then runs right to next person somehow stronger like he’s a saiyan. At least we see Naruto train between encounters so it doesn’t feel contrived that he’s stronger. Sasuke he’s sharingan just evolves and he’s just ready to go despite never using the new ability before. Then to me I just find him the least interesting part of his own storylines he’s carried by Itachi, Orochimaru, Obito, and Naruto. The best part about him is his fight scenes.

Naruto didn’t train for anything other than sage mode. We see naruto training because he’s, unfortunately, the main character of this anime. Sasuke was kept out of the manga for a prolonged period of time anyway.

@@slayed9602 Naruto trained for both the rasengan and the rasenshuriken. He also trained an entire day trying to master the multi shadow clone jutsu. Where have you been my guy? Dude also trained with Jiraiya to unlock more of the Nine Tails transformation. Trained to defeat his own evil side at the waterfall and even fought the ninetails just to get him to be a friend. All of these are training moments.

I actually liked the way Sasuke's character grew, he was constantly being manipulated by people; Itachi, Obito, orochimaru. He did a 180 cause he realized he basically contributed to killing his brother who was just trying to protect him. He had every right to go after Danzo and I was right there cheering Sasuke on cause I subscribe to the quote "fuck Danzo". Someone needed to kill Danzo for what he did to Itachi, Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko. Everything after was because of Obitos influence on him, Obito liked edging Sasuke on with dirty dark secrets of the leaf... And after all the shit Sasuke did to his village, his friends and allies I dont blame him for putting a punishment on himself cause even Sasuke agrees that he shouldn't just go free from what he did

Minato came back from beyond the veil to reseal Kuruma, tell Naruto about Obito, AND give him full sage mode. If that ain't MC plot armor I don't know what is. At least Sasuke had a stacked team he hand picked to keep him from situations exactly like the Killer Bee fight. At least Sasuke knew them beforehand and none of them were confirmed dead for 15 years

I used to despise Sasuke as well. But over time I realized how real his character is. All the plot armor bullshit aside. He’s a really nuanced and complicated character. He changes his ideologies much like a lot of people do in real life. We see him grow as a character. Not just in power. Naruto’s character development seemed kind of linear. As for sasuke he goes through twists and turns. I could go on about why I think sasuke is actually a decent character. But that’s what’s cool about naruto. So many characters and opinions on each one. I think they’re all valid.

Naruto usually had to face people that once followed the same path, but fell off. As long as Naruto was doing the right thing, he was always able to change the person in their last moments. The one person that didnt work with was Sasuke, because Naruto wanted him back for selfish reasons, instead of pure good. Sasuke was motivated only by power, and took every offering to gain power, except refused to kill Naruto to awaken the Mangekyo. That is why he almost always failed. The only real success he gets is from helping others without a selfish and warped reason. That theme plays throughout the entire story.

And something else people forget is that for the entirety of the noruto and shippuden run Sasuke is a CHILD. Think of hos many teenagers hear a song or read a book and adjust their entire personality. How many adukts become crippled seeing strangers die in war. Sasuke...in one night loses his entire family at the hands of the person in life he respected and admired the most, was forced to relive it again and again in a hellish illusion depicting reality, and then was told by this person that the ONLY reason he's being spared is that he is so weak and pathetic that he isnt even worth killing. Sasuke spends years training with the sole purpose of killing this person and when opportunity presents itself he tries and there is NO difference. He is no more a challenge than he was that same night he lost everything. Desperate for power he abandons everyone else who still cares about him, trains for years longer, finally kills this person...only to find ou- ya get my point. How he handles all this is perfeftly understandable. I know grown adukts who'd buckle into a comatose husk trying to handle half of Sasuke's emotional weight.

Sasuke: Sharingan, Fire Style, Lightning style and still recovering from injuries Bee: Regeneration, Extra chakra reserves, years of battles experience, completely healthy, basically another consciousness that HELPED him not get CAPTURED. The bee stuff has always been weird to me the fight wasn’t for Sasuke to look good it was to show what Sasuke was able to do just recently obtaining mangekyo Itachi is a huge plot device in himself yes an Uchiha who for the most part solos a clan that’s exactly like him makes sense (no it doesn’t) Madara stabbing Sasuke is just like when naruto almost died at the same moment 😂 Sasuke is wayyyyyyy smarter than deidara btw 💀 giving him the win yes plot armor exists and Naruto and Sasuke Definitely share the same amount of it 😂

I think the difference in naruto and sasuke is the way their trust in people fluctuate and in specific people especially in sasukes path in life. Naruto didn't know his family from the beginning so he always low key wanted friends even though a lot of people treated him bad as a kid. He would be angry to the older people as a kid because he never knew his parents and never understood why until he did and the older people of the village were usually the ones talking shit when he was young. Sasuke is the same way just on the opposite side of the coin. Plus his trust with different peoples fluctuated a lot based on the twisted shit he went thru. He never understood his brother and his actions which pointed to his brother being a fucking monster as a kid and so on. I mean he whupped the whole clans ass and gave his little brother a hard slap on the back to become strong so sasuke could one day seek vengeance and succeed in getting that vengeance. I don't care what you've been thru but when you've been betrayed by family or the most trusted person in your life, it hurts at least %100 more than feeling betrayed by a random person. I can feel for the dude thru and thru. In his case he was manipulated and tossed around by people around him except his friends in which requires a bond and he had already been scarred before reaching that point all the while he just wanted to understand everything before he goes crazy thinking too much about everything that happened. Makes you not want to put your trust into someone especially since he was so innocent when his life changed and he wasn't told what was going on. Gives you the fear of trusting. As far as his daughter lol I think he didn't really trust his feelings too much and how could you blame him. He wanted to fucking kill naruto at one point in time lol hell he always wanted to kill itachi until itachi was literally on his deathbed. Then and only then he wasn't going crazy overthinking things that happened in his life. Makes you wonder as a person if you have the right to be a family person.

My major problem with Sasuke is how much of an asshole he is and how inconsistent he is. Sasuke has backstabbed, abandoned, and tried to kill everyone who has ever cared or supported him. Why on earth would I like a character who does shit like that. Also on how he is so inconsistent. In his first appearance in shippuden he was going to kill Naruto and Sakura had Orochimaru not stopped him. But some time later he has Suigetsu join him and tells him not to murder anyone. Like are you serious. So Sasuke is cool with murdering people who care about him but not random strangers. Are you serious.

After watching all of the episodes of Naruto and Shippuuden, I still think that Sasuke is an irredeemable character because at its core, Sasuke is an absolutely selfish character throughout the show. It did not matter how many people he had to betray, hurt, used, or kill to reach his overall goal which his overall goal is completely one sided and never once even considered how his actions will affect those around him. Yes, he may have had a fucked up childhood that affected how he viewed the world around him but he’s not the only character in the show that had suffered from traumatic childhood experiences. And on top of all of that, his redemption feels completely unearned as I felt he got off way too easily for all the terrible things he’s has done in the past. Sasuke hasn’t done nearly enough to redeem himself in my opinion. I just can’t stand him.

Naruto even acknowledged the fact that he didn’t even understand sasuke until Jaraiya died. Sasuke has been completely protecting the village from the outside since Shippuden and in boruto without him they would be at an disadvantage in many aspects. Ya hate sasuke because what he’s done to NARUTO. It was even foreshadowed when Karin said his chakra got dark and cold and later on tobirama explained why! I enjoyed this video as much as I enjoy Sasuke’s character. I’ve seen lots of different perspectives of his character and as I understand (and happely understand why a lot of people don’t appreciate him) I love how his development shows how down the road a person can go when using poor thinking patterns. Sasuke’s development may not make a lot of sense to most people, yet I see a good analogy in him to the distorted way a whole bunch of people operare from.

After watching all of the episodes of Naruto and Shippuuden, I still think that Sasuke is an irredeemable character because at its core, Sasuke is an absolutely selfish character throughout the show. It did not matter how many people he had to betray, hurt, used, or kill to reach his overall goal which his overall goal is completely one sided and never once even considered how his actions will affect those around him. Yes, he may have had a fucked up childhood that affected how he viewed the world around him but he’s not the only character in the show that had suffered from traumatic childhood experiences. And on top of all of that, his redemption feels completely unearned as I felt he got off way too easily for all the terrible things he’s has done in the past. Sasuke hasn’t done nearly enough to redeem himself in my opinion. I just can’t stand him.

Here’s the thing, I just understand Sasuke’s motivation to take out the leaf village and all of the Kages, after knowing everything that has happened. If it’s revenge for the Uchiha massacre, he already killed Danzo, and justifiably so. If it was for Itachi, that goes against everything Itachi had sacrificed everything he had before and was to protect the Hidden Leaf Village and Sasuke. He knows why Itachi was forced to kill all the Uchiha because their father and every high ranking member of the clan was attempting to commit a coup d'état against the Hidden Leaf which would have resulted in a complete slaughter against innocent people in the village. I honestly can understand why the massacre had happened because none of that would have happened off there wasn’t an attempted coup d'état against the Leaf Village. All that just confirms my belief that Sasuke, despite knowing everything, was still stubborn enough to do things his way, despite that going against everything that his loved ones (especially Itachi) had fought so hard for and used the tragedy of the Uchiha massacre and Itachi’s death as some some sort of justification for his actions despite it being so hypocritical or even taking into consideration of what Itachi truly wanted.

I disagree with some of the examples of plot armor, like against garra. There’s a lot of times in the series when characters would die if someone didn’t step in, I see that as something that they often do to generate hype but not necessarily plot armor. I think the same thing about the 5 kage summit example, he definitely made it through a lot of crazy stuff with the help of obito, but I see actual plot armor as when there isn’t a good reason why a character made it out, or something new was created just to bring the character back or something. Saskue is my favorite character in shonen. I would put him up there with my other favorites like Alucard and Guts, why because to me Saskue doesn’t feel like a typical shonen rival…Vegeta or Bakugo, he feels more like a Seinen protagonist I would even compare his story to Thorfinn from Vinland Saga. Saskue doesn’t care about the main character so much like other rivals in fact he doesn’t care about what anyone else thinks,he’s going to do what he’s going to do. To me Sasuke is a traumatized kid who was so full of rage and hate and never got the help from others like Naruto did. Naruto could of gone down that dark path but he had someone there for him in those moments. First he got saved by Iruka Sensei and than when fighting Pain, his father was there to save him from the nine tails fox and when he was just about to give up after Neji died he had Hinata by his side. In his darkest moments Saskue had no one, Itachi tried to be there for his little brother but failed and then the only people who were there was Orochimaru and Madara/Obito and they manipulated him to go on a dark path. Saskue character for me is well written and I like that we got to go on his journey. It was like I was watching a Seinen protagonist after losing everything becomes cold and ruthless and just mentally exhausted walk down a dark path and then tries to discover who he is. The sad part is instead of like other Seinen protagonist he is a broken traumatized kid.

I didn't like Sasuke all the way up until the final fight with Naruto. Actually, I despised him. However, after him and Naruto fought, and he explained his behaviour was a result of his own insecurities and fear of abandonment it all made sense to me. Not to mention the fact he is a Uchiha adds to that, as they are very emotionally volatile. The fact that he refused a new arm infused with Hashirama's DNA offered from the Leaf also made me gain a ton of respect for him. Its like he felt that was a part of him atoning for his sins. Sharingan or not, missing an arm is extremely disadvantageous to a shinobi.

He was also the one remaining after the genocide of his clan, so him being "anti-social" has strong logic behind it. Him trying to kill Sakura only happened when she was trying to kill him, and Naruto was hell bent on trying to get in his way and forcing him back to the leaf village. Even so he was not able to bring himself to kill him at the valley of the end fight.

Personally, I do find that Sasuke was mishandled but I don't fundamentally hate him as a character. I think he would've been used better if he was allowed to remain compassionate towards others and relearned the value of teamwork. Despite his desertion from the village and revenge quest he was actually the first member for team 7 to reach out for team work and still had some moments of his original friendlier disposition buried under all his trauma. He makes a good foil for Naruto but I'd rather that was played more in a way where Sasuke had his own respectable moral code like where they seemed to be going with him post Orochimaru. It'd help call into question some of the more messed up things Konoha was involved in and the need to address the systemic issues with ninja villages to make it a place he could reasonably be expected to return to. A big problem with how Naruto ended is that they raised societal problems within the setting and then never really dealt with them. Sure, Naruto talk no Jutsu'd people into getting along but beating up a handful of bad people doesn't actually fix things like kage and villages being a military dictatorship, child soldiers etc. It's a bit like the problems I have with how they handled Naruto's pent up resentment towards the village by him just being ok because they stopped abusing him when we could've gotten more nuanced commentary about the process of letting go of unhealthy hatred and resentment without ignoring the harm that was done. Both Naruto and Sasuke could've faced eachother with equally sympathetic goals and motives instead of having Sasuke just be the objectively bad one who's a jerk to everyone and has to cede entirely to Naruto to ignore his grievances to end the conflict.

Eh...I wouldn't say he's mishandled really. Not really...as that stuff was meant to be handled after the series ended. I mean...getting better relations with the other villages helps with that and they really aren't a dictatorship. Well not just that but he could understand why they feared him and that they really aren't bad people. But...that's what we got, it's why he hugged that evil version of him and have him become one with him instead of ignoring it completely. I mean...Sasuke was both objectivrly bad but also had a sympathic and kind of a sad goal too. He doesn't ignore his grievances though....but he sees that Naruto is right which makes sense.

The part where he was going out on his own assembling a team and shaping his own standards outside the village system was really good. That could've led to a really compelling take on the narrative about the village's failings and Sasuke slowly healing from his trauma. It would've been a real challenge and counterpoint to Naruto if Sasuke was allowed to keep within standards that aren't actually all that objectionable beyond the village's obligation to deal with their rogue ninja and the political ramifications of his actions with the resolution being that both Naruto and Sasuke reach a sort of middle ground putting together the strengths of their outlooks and addressing the faults of them to really create change they're both satisfied with. Pain's arc had a lot of put into the philosophical aspect of his conflict with Naruto, so I don't see why they couldn't have worked something like that into Naruto and Sasuke's rivalry.

Yeah which I'm pretty sure is kind of what is meant to happen...that they will create changes eventually...it's what Naruto wants to do when he becomes Hokage. They kind of did...by the end of Shippuden part of the deal of Naruto and Sasuke's final fight is who will decide the fate of the shinobi world and their vision for it.

@@jaydenc367 I meant he's thematically equivalent to a version of Madara who made peace with Hashirama and stayed/went back to the village given that he's literally reincarnation of Madara and the whole Indra and Asura thing. He was already equated to Madara to a degree before the Indra and Asura stuff came in and took over everything. I personally found the setup for their final fight kinda dumb. There wasn't really any good reason for Sasuke to just trap all the tailed beasts and declare he was going to take over the world like that. I'm not saying there wasn't some attempt to do the thing you're claiming but that it was done poorly and there were a number of better and more narratively satisfying ways to go about it. The narrative says Naruto somehow solved the systemic issues with the villages and the story just waves a magic wand to make that the case but it really just sidestepped all the complexities of what it'd take to actually fix those issues to skip to things being ok again. It wasn't narratively satisfying as a solution to the themes and systemic issues that were brought up and part of my problem with that is the way Sasuke's side of it was handled.

I love your content but its funny cuz I disagree with the Sasuke hate and plot armor. A.) Sasuke Vs. Haku: -Haku was stated to be too soft and too kind by Zabuza so I feel like its not head canon to say Haku was missing spots even if the Manga panel may have looked like it. B.) Sasuke Curse Mark: -Sorta plot armor but clearly having Uchiha blood (aka very closely related to Hagoromo and the Otsutsuki) its not that big of a deal to make his survival rate a bit higher. C.) Sasuke Vs. Gaara: -Sasuke just got saved by Naruto like a lot of people. Thats like saying Iruka has plot armor because Kakashi saved him from Pein. D.) Sasuke Vs. Deidara (Even though you didn’t mention this I figured it was still a talking point because people arguably bring up that more than anything regarding to Sasuke’s plot armor): -Sasuke was holding back and still won. He was still in “I don’t want to kill anyone” mode and could have used Dragon Flames when Deidara was on the C2 Dragon and then later Kirin and one shot easily but he let the battle drag out a while. E.) Taka Vs. Bee: -Sasuke kept getting saved by his teammates that he very carefully chose as supports so he could kill Itachi and later have other motives etc etc. -Yes Bee was stronger and Sasuke managed to “Win” but it’s not really plot armor to have a good team that YOU collected to help you during battles. F.) Sasuke Vs. Kage Summit (Mainly Ay): -Sasuke was fucking Ay IV up so badly that Ay had to cut his own arm off and need Shi/Cee to heal him (aka what you would say is plot armor according to the Taka Vs. Bee fight) and if he had Guillotine Drop Kicked Sasuke’s Kagutsuchi Susano’o rib cage, Sasuke would have just survived, grew his Susano’o to Skeletal, and Ay would have lost his leg and Sasuke would clap him.

About the plot armor i cannot say much, i dont judge sasuke . Sasuke could summon Manda as he had the summoning seal on his arm. It’s the same way Orochimaru summoned him against Jiraiya and Tsunade. Summoning Manda in this way uses no chakra so that wasn’t a plot armor.

It wasn't the first time she saw him, Sasuke spent a lengthy amount of time living with Sakura and Sarada during Sarada's early years and Sarada has very happy memories with her father if you've read the novels you'd know the reason she awakened sharingan is because she missed her father so much but since she awakened it at such an early age her vision became impaired and it caused her memories to be repressed just like how Sasuke's memories of the night of the massacre and Itachi were repressed depending on the situation it's a side effect of the sharingan that's why when she saw him she immediately recognized him and that sense of familiarity returned to her. The anime did a horrible job of adapting Sarada's story making it seem like Sasuke never was in her life and that Sarada had never seen or known him at all which is completely untrue.

@@BriSand1993 loss of eyes sight isn't an effect of the first stage though. The ms is when eye loss become a concern, or with izangi or izanami. Her losing her eyesight because of awakening sharigan, means Sasuke should've worn glasses as well.

Oh you undersold the Deidara bullshit. Not ONLY does he pull out the chakra to summon Manda, he has the chakra to put him under genjutsu, hop in his mouth, and then get "reverse summoned". All of that happens AFTER the blast goes off like 10 feet away from him.
