Hello Dr Sean and Dr Michelle. I’m repeating my question from the previous video about biopsy. I’m 68 I have CKD stage 3 with significant protein in urine but during a year time of labs protein in urine is diminishing. Do I wait before a biopsy. Thanks Doctors.

Is there a clear relationship between uric acid levels and increased protein in urine? We are largely plant based but CKD4 spouse had high Uric acid levels on a home test kit. The nephrologist had neglected to call for A1C and Uric acid (and magnesium) levels. We have her uric acid back down from over 9, to 7.6. We have been using grape seed extract due to some Pubmed articles I've read. Sorry for long read. Short version, uric Acid levels & protein spillage... Thanks

Hi Michele, would Plain Coconut Yogurt that's made with pure organic coconuts and few other clean ingredients be ok. I use that with fresh fruits. The brand I use "Cocojune" has 15 grams of sat fat. In the context of no sugar and this context be ok for CKD3? thank you

Doesn't MCT oil having the advantage of not needing bile and lipase for digestion? MCT oil is still saturated, is that OK for the kidneys?

I have recently come across some information regarding the management of diabetes and its correlation with diet. Specifically, I am curious about two scenarios: 1. If someone’s HbA1c level is 5.5 while consuming only animal-based foods such as meat, chicken, fish, beef, eggs, and dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt, does this indicate that their diabetes is cured? 2. Similarly, if an individual’s HbA1c level is 5.5 while consuming solely whole, raw plant-based foods including fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, does this suggest that their diabetes is cured?

There are 3-4 ways that Diabetes can be diagnosed. A1c 6.5% or higher, fasting blood sugar 126 mg/dL or higher, oral glucose tolerance test blood sugar of 200 mg/dL or higher at 2 hours, or random blood glucose of 200 mg/dL with symptoms of diabetes. So to answer your question, yes an A1c of 5.5% put's someone in the normal range based on A1c. But it is important to still be able to "pass" those other tests that can diagnosis someone with Diabetes as well. So that means look at their fasting blood sugar level, and how their body would respond to an oral glucose tolerance test (or simply to eating foods that contain carbohydrates) to truly know how their body responds to glucose and their insulin sensitivity.

What fat content and quantity makes up walnuts, peanut butter, and avocados? I tend to eat these daily. Thanks in advance!

These plant sources of fat are mostly unsaturated fatty acids (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids).

Google search "Walnut fatty acids" ect. And that will give the fatty acid percents or grams etc..

I find these things to be flawed. I spent 3 years following doctor's recommendations and a 90% plant based diet. During that time my eGFR remained constant - a low 30, my creatinine stayed the same. My A1C was 5.6 and I was insulin resistant. I started the carnivore diet and within 1 month my eGFR went up to 45, my creatinine went down, my A1C went down to 5.1 and my fasting insulin is 1.1 - not insulin resistant anymore. I feel better, sleep better and have more energy. I also find it disturbing that McDonald's was used for an example. Anyone eating at McDonalds will be metabolically unhealthy and should not be blamed on healthy meat and SF.

McDonalds was given as an example of how much saturated fat can be found in fast food and processed food. Examples were also given of non fast food/processed foods. We have an episode on the carnivore diet that you can check out if you are interested.

The fact remains that I have seen significant improvements after going high fat low carbs that I never saw on a plant based diet. Quality of life, energy and sleep have improved as well. Using fast food or processed food is a poor example. Both contribute significantly to metabolic syndrome where clean meats do not. @@PlantBasedKidneyHealth

The gist of what I’ve read is that the high fat will work for a time but will eventually cause you to become insulin resistant because it’s doing culmative damage.
@albundyrocks2115
@albundyrocks2115 4 ай бұрын
Quite the contrary. I'm 4 months into carnivore and just had more blood work yesterday. My eGFR has improved another 4% to 49 and my insulin resistance is 1.1 which is excellent. All other markers improved as well. I'm sold. Feeling great and lots of energy. Insulin increases in response to glucose. There is no glucose in red meat so insulin naturally is lowered.@@michaelhunt2747
