I just recently found you on KZbin and have watched several episodes. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. My issues concern heart (had a stroke), Kidneys and diabetes. I was taking potassium for my heart and other herbs and supplements. I only take what dose is recommended on the bottle but didn't realize that with everything combined that I was getting a lot of potassium which could damage my kidneys, through some of the herbs I was taking. I was taking chromium for weight loss and learned that was not good for my kidneys. Too bad because it was helping! I research every thing I take but, never thought of researching the specific properties of the herbs. It gets confusing about what to take since what to take for heart issues that doesn't hurt the kidneys and visa versa. Thank you so much, you have probably saved my life.

Oddly, the recipe she gave for oatmeal sounds like mine! I have 3 heaping teaspoons of oatmeal, half teaspoon flax seed, chopped walnuts, about 2 whole nuts worth, blueberries, cranberries, a half teaspoon 100% cacao powder and water. Sometimes I'll use apple chunks instead of blueberries or strawberries or even blackberries and add cinnamon., ginger and clove. Since b i dont use any sweetener, i do melt a squirt of whipped cream, 1 to 2 tablespoons, which has only 1 carb and sugar. Wgen i had it, ( hard to find now) I'd add a GOOD pinch of oat bran for extra fiber. Once cooked, it only came to about half a cup of cooked cereal. I eat big,at breakfast so often I have cooked veggies, kale, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, asparagus or cauliflower., meaning a combination not all at once. Just these are my favorite veggies of choice. Fortunately, i grew up on these so I have backed off the meats. I still LOVE meat, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, butternut squash, white potatoes but very sparingly these days😢 Luckily I never was a fan of pastas or rice. I eat little bread but sourdough or pumpernickel rye and not too often.

Great video! There are various NBCI studies that show healing effects of Nigella sativa on the kidney function. I wonder if you could touch on this subject one day because there are various clinical studies on it and it's not spoken about on youtube. I've ordered pure black seed oil and I'm very excited about it along with my diet changes.

Hi! I have some questions! :) I have a special needs son who had a kidney transplant years ago and became diabetic later on. He's been on a lower carb/higher fat diet. For a year+ I've been tracking his diet using cronometer. We both recently switched to a whole foods, plant based diet from a diet that was rather high in fat using nuts/seeds/avacados/animal products. My son hasn't had any processed foods, other than olive oil, in over 8 years. When thinking about fats/saturated fats, how much do you think is too much when it comes to adding things like nuts and seeds? I'm trying not to 'gum up the lock' when it comes to insulin resistance. Does it take some time to become more insulin sensitive when decreasing fat intake? On controlling blood sugar when on prednisolone because of the transplant....any tips? My son gets this drug every other day after breakfast. My son is special needs. He's in a wheelchair and has low muscle mass. Any tips on increasing calories without going overboard on carbs/fat/protein? I guess that's where my question on how much fat do you think is too much fat. He definitely poops better with more fiber from a plant based diet and less fat! Thank you for all of the great info you two are providing! I really appreciate it. I've learned more from the two of you than from all of my son's dieticians and doctors over the last 22 years! I stumbled upon your channel while looking into a plant based diet for diabetes. It is through you that I learned how beneficial a plant based diet is for your kidneys. I've worked with several dieticians on behalf of my son over these years and never once did any of them suggest a plant based diet. I really wish that they had. My son and I both only have one kidney (I'm his donor). We would have switched to a whole foods, plant based diet years ago. The one major, life changing thing that happened almost immediately after we switched over was my son's mood. He can't talk or communicate other then yelling, a lot. The yelling has stopped for the most part. It was light flipping a light switch when he stopped eating animal products. I have no idea why. Something to do with PRAL? Your channel is the first time I had EVER heard of PRAL. Crazy... THANK YOU AGAIN! I've shared your channel on a couple of kidney Facebook groups. :)

Hi Lorna! Thank you for sharing yours and your son's journey and results thus far! It is so amazing to hear :) It does take time for the body to become more sensitive to insulin! The fat from whole plant foods (like the avo, nuts and seeds) are great choices to keep the calories up. As far as how much is too much will really depend on your son's individual needs. You mentioned working with dietitians in the past...the National Kidney Foundation website has a database of renal dietitians. Many are educated on plant based diets and work 1:1 with clients. I would definitely recommend checking it out to see if you can find a renal RD to help provide some of those specifics for your son's diet. The website is: www.kidney.org/ckdrd

Could you please focus more on foods to eat foods to avoid can you show a list for us to follow, effects of vitamins and minerals which are good and those to avoid, as a diabetic we are told potassium is very important, possibly in the future you can demonstrate on how to cook different recipes. Can you give me recipes on smoothies to drink. I drink a lot of water and liquids during the day to control my sugar and I am up and down all night I do this so I do not have to take my diabetic meds on a daily basis for fear to injure the kidneys. Is it possible to reverse kidney failure. I work at home and I am sitting down working on the computer most of the day which causes lower back pain and I believe eventually it will affect my kidneys thank you great video will continue to follow

How do you solve insulin resistance?
@PlantBasedKidneyHealth
@PlantBasedKidneyHealth Жыл бұрын
The key is diet, exercise, and weight loss. With diet it's about avoiding simple sugars and saturated fats. Exercise can be anything as long as you move every day. With weight loss, even a few pounds can make a big difference.

@PlantBasedKidneyHealth

It is usually best to get fiber from whole plant foods. A fiber supplement might fit into your daily routine as well. It's best to check with your physician/dietitian so they can make an individualized recommendation.

Great video Great video, thank you so much. You´re answering so many of the quesions we normal folks have. As a typical 58 year old westerner I´m constantly on the look out for intelligent science backed information, and this video has helped. I must say, as a layman, the division in the nutritional world between low-fat high carb and high-fat low carb is very unhelpful. So please feel free not to shield us from the science, if you don´t we´ll all end up believing "Dr" Berg. I have to say though, the plant based crowd are all much better looking 😂😂

I have made the experience that I ( diabetic type 1) can handle a lot of fruit with a moderate insuline shot, but if I eat it together with a lot of fat ( or there is still fat im my stomach ) even good fat like avocado, things become chaotic....

19:14 or just stop telling very, very sick people with diabetes to eat food containing sugar, and so tying everyone's brain in knots. If it mobilizes insulin (just to eat, for godsake) its sugar to humans. We are running out of time.
