The Guy Surugi at 2:46 and 22:53 is based on *Sonny Chiba* from the "The Street Fighter" films in the 70's (No correlation to Capcom). His fighting style was Karate with this crazy breathing technique. He was also the guy who made the Sword for the lead character in Kill Bill. Side note... I think that Girl that they chose with Karate is based on *Hilary Swank* as the girl from "The Next Karate Kid".
