Marco is such a carismatic person. He could teach in university as he has an innate ability to catch your attention. I feel he could read the telephone book and find it still interesting

he could not teach in a university unless it was a course in cuisine. Teaching in university does not require a distinct ability to hold the attention beyond any other institution or professional context: if you mean that Marco could become a teacher, then yes, but he could not teach in a university for political science, for instance.

The way MPW cut the interviewer down to size was brilliant. Just the right tone of voice and the right look in the eye. I wouldn't cross his path. I also liked his comments on self discovery.

I get that vibe, too. But that's MPW now. Imagine him back in the 80s, fighting to get those 3 stars. BTW, Ramsay did a totally dick move during White's wedding. He effectively violated his private life. I can understand why he burned that bridge and it's on Ramsay's head.

Would that you were the only one ! What a jerk. The fact that he's repeatedly interrupting Marco and not letting him have his say, is proof he's not really listening: which is another way of saying, he's not really interested in what Marco has to say. Good on Marco for calling out his rudeness live on air,instead of pretending to find his forced banter amusing,which it most certainly wasn't.

mike m Not every chef is praised only the really good ones. Plus basically any doctor is praised, we may not know their names but in society they are universally praised for what they do. Similar to soldiers and police officers.

I love how Marco speaks with his hands. He reminds me of a composer while he speaks. Using his hands, he enunciates words. I have decided in the past few days while learning about him and his past, that he is a true genius ans perfectionist. He has an obsessive love for what he does. I consider him to be the epitome of a man.

What Marco says here is very important. Whatever your job is, whatever you do for a living: in essence, stay close to yourself. Do it your way, the way you feel is the best. I'm not talking about procedures or simple processes, but the bigger picture. And if your boss or bosses don't like it? Don't change. That's the journey Marco refers to. If and when you stay close to yourself, you might just discover on that journey that everything you did, every job you had, was merely a path to discovering what you really want in the short time we have on this planet. And that knowledge my friends is worth more than everything. Marco Pierre is a very very wise man. Through default ;)

I'll like to add to his ending quote which is such a true statement, You can only find self discovery through knowing what you don't want through trial and error. Failures if used properly can be a catalyst for self reinvention. Finally, it truly is about the journey and not the destination of life.

I can certainly relate to what he says about working hard for a long time to achieve something you never really wanted, and the way you change as a person when you realize this and change your path accordingly. Finding you true self is the key to inner peace and a fulfilling life.

The reason I love MPW is that he gave up the thing he was genius in, because it was simply an avoidant outlet. A lot of what I've read from him in recent months has actually sounded rather Zen, that last minute is a wonderful statement for us all to reflect on: “Winning three stars in Michelin, what it taught me, is that for 22 years of my life I worked very hard for something I didn’t want. What I realise today, is that true success is self-discovery. The day you start to discover yourself, you can accept yourself, then you have the opportunity to fall in love for the right reason, to do things for the right reason, to realise your true potential as a human being. Discovering yourself is the thing that is important, not Michelin stars”

every fine dining restaurant kitchen I have worked in or ran has always made EVERYTHING from scratch, that's why you start at 8am and finish at about 1am six days a week =)

he may do ads for Knorr, and he may use stock cubes at home and possibly in some of his pub menus, but he hasn't "always" used stock cubes. I assure you that back in his fine dining days when he spent HOURS making sauces, the base wasn't from a stock cube! and he couldn't sell a starter, in the 1980's for $100 a serve if he was taking shortcuts using stock cubes. Stock cubes for home use or simple seasoning are fine but only lazy/unskilled chefs use cubes to make stocks in the restaurant =)

yes! BBC One and BBC Two are readily available via the 2 main cable providers as a basic package that comes with the tv licence. It was part of the Good Friday Agreement that Northern Ireland would receive the Irish channels RTÉ One and Network Two and the Republic would get UTV, ITV , Channel 4 and BBC One and Two. Prior to that those channels had been readily available to southern viewers anyway. Other BBC channels are also available on more expensive UPC and Sky packages.
