This has got to be one of the best sketches they've ever done. It's not silly or over-the-top or slapstick or gross. It's just well written. Doesn't make you fall over laughing but it's clever and poignant and as good as any scene from a sitcom.
@jdj8303 жыл бұрын
It feels so lived-in, like we know every character and their back story and you can imagine this going on for eight seasons. Everyone really disappears into their roles, and even the set designer paid meticulous attention to detail. I haven’t seen any other SNL skit quite like it.

@BambiTrout2 жыл бұрын
@ It might not be as laugh out loud as some of the others, but that's not what the OP is saying. This sketch feels like part of a much larger show and it's extremely well written. You know all of the relationships between the characters without them having to explicitly say "How's my ex-wife doing today?" or some other unnatural expository phrase. It feels like a conversation between slightly heightened real people, which is how all of the best sitcoms work - by making you care about the characters as people, rather than just as caricatures or plot objects.

I was an English teacher at a high school in Warsaw, Poland. I had three students drop my class because they wanted to take Arabic. About 2 weeks later at a staff meeting I finally met the Arabic teacher and realized why they chose her, an impossibly gorgeous Lebanese-Polish woman, over me (male...nice hair, tho). To clarify a couple of things: - We both worked part time (and on alternate days), so we never crossed paths. - Students needed 2 language credits, and the boys who dropped my class were already pretty good at English (and were taking Spanish)

That's funny and a familiar feeling. In Secondary school when I was about 14/15 years old a new French teacher who was female came to teach our all boys school. Whenever she wasn't around, or when other teachers were present, the boys would talk quite loudly. But when she came into the room all the boys suddenly turned silent for the whole duration of her teaching, you could hear a pin drop. She was always dressed in some black stockings and black dress and big red lipstick and she had a French accent of course. Once I whispered to a boy next to me "Why is everyone really quiet when she's here?" and the boy replied "because she's hot" hahaha. This happened in around 2007/2008 in Bolton School, England.

Had a teacher in high school ( I was 16) She used to bend over to put a VHS tape in, to play the class a documentary. It was the highlight of our dull young boy days ! My god!

The funny thing is, there actually is a Creighton Prep High School in Omaha, Nebraska and it's an all boys school.

My German teacher looked a lot like how Tina fey looks today. She was the sweetest most caring teacher. She was like the mom for all her students, and I swear I would have never taken to the language so well if not her her genuine love for it, and her love for all us students. I can confidently say I’m bilingual.

I remember drawing a Swastika on a cartoon elephant drawing I had made in my exercise book, I was around 12/13 years old, and my German Teacher noticed that and got very upset. I am against Nazis and my cartoon wasn't done to offend but I was just a kid. The boy next to me told me that in some situations I could've been arrested for drawing that cartoon, I was scared after that and learnt my lesson lol

As a teacher, the part of this that gives me conniption fits is that students and parents just WALK RIGHT IN TO THE FACULTY LOUNGE. I beseech the heavens, is nothing sacred? 😭😭😭

Seriously. When I was a student the teachers lounge was like the forbidden zone.

I must be old but I remember being in Middle School (grades 6 - 8) in the early 90s and the teachers lounge was more like a smoker's lounge.

There's no doubt, kids are doing better when they are motivated. You just gotta make sure those motivations are not perverted in any way or possibly could get somebody in a cell.

Two seconds after Catherine showed up and I’m already floored lol! Her French is great but I love how what she said when she entered the room meant nothing but could mean something if she really wanted to elaborate... Love Rachel but glad they didn’t choose her to be the french teacher but is perfect for the German one 😌😙

This happened at the “all boys high school” I went to. The substitute, pert-titted, twentysomething, French teacher had no idea what was in store for her... a hundred thirsty teenagers crowding her classroom. Youth.
