Wasn’t Pharrel the young boy that was on his bike and fell off the back of the half pipe at the skate park? Regardless the young man that had the horrible leg injury and his father had a amazing bond and friendship. I bet it was a relief for both of them that Dad could be there with him even though they both probably wished he hadn’t gotten on that bike on that day. Xo

Every show that I’ve watched they’ve always done it first come first serve but if you have a broken arm say and then next guy comes in and he has a very severe head trauma. Well then the head trauma guy is gonna go before you cause you’re not going to die with your broken arm, but the guy with the head trauma could die if he’s not seen right away, that would be the only way they switch it up.

I totally agree; it is so crazy that doctors, nurses, EMTs and police work insanely long shifts. These are folks that need to be on top of their game - they are dealing with life and death stuff. I have never heard the justification for this. Surely more sane scheduling can be figured out.

The team lead nurse has a shift of 25 hours! That is not right. She is going to be beyond exhausted and will have peoples lives in her hands. Nurses, doctors, police, ambulance medics and fire peoples should not work more than 10 hours with at least 11 hours or more in between shifts. The 11 hours in between shifts gives them time to get home, eat, sleep at least 8 hours, eat and get to work. The 11 hours should have time added to it if the person lives far away. This will make scheduling a bear to deal with but I think we would have happier emergency workers.
@shelleylee6354

The comment about 25 hrs " on call". She isnt a Nurse. She is a Doctor and on call doesnt mean actually there. The UK has more and better rules about working hours and conditions than US Resident Doctors who were actually there for 24 hrs. when I started. They did have a 'nap room'! Better now 😊

I find Emer sure did have a great outlook on life. When you think of how many children are abused because they accidentally spilled their cereal on the kitchen floor, they need to take a few lessons from Emer. If I had to go to RESES I’d want her and Jen to care for my trauma. But really all the doctors and nurses there really care for the patients that they’re taking care of. The father was a great example of how to care for your son no matter how old they are when they’re in the emergency department of the hospital. He stayed calm and loving and that helped his son to stay calm. You sure could tell the respect they had for each other and that is a very rare thing between a father and a son nowadays. It was beautiful to see this father and son’s relationship. 🥰

A Minor injuries unit is where some of these patients could be treated if only there were such units to be able to go to. I was in A&E at the RLH from 9pm Saturday night to 8am Sunday morning on oxygen because of breathing difficulties (i had swine flu but they didnt know it at the time). I was on a trolley chair which was comfortable and saw so many people who could have been treated in a minor medical centre. I was admitted and spent 6 days in hospital. 6 months after discharge i was informed that i had had swine flue.

Yes, I don't know if urgent care is a thing in the UK but here in America it is a great thing because it separates the life threatening and high level pain from conditions from more minor things like simple broken bones and smaller cuts. I just wish people would remember to use UC instead of ER for these more minor conditions because it could really clear up some ER beds (and that it was cheaper and more accessible to everyone).
@doreenmeyer1606
@doreenmeyer1606 Жыл бұрын
Not all areas have UC, even in the US. Big problem that UCs don't take MediCaid or uninsured, and federal laws only require actual ERs give treatment under EMTALA.

I too, crashed my motorcycle on the highway, and also hit a piece of furniture! Around 1991 I was going about twice the patients speed, at 70mph, at night, when I ran into a Lazyboy recliner on I-70. Not my fault, but of course, that doesn't magically take away the risk of injury. I wasn't significantly hurt, as I had on all the right gear. I would've been about 27 YO, and that was the last time I rode a bike on the streets. Since then, have had just 1 little dirt bike and happy on grass at speeds approaching 30 mph now. It's too dangerous w/ cars around to ride a street motorcycle. As a car driver, I have missed seeing motorcycles and pedestrians on occasion, busy or running late. Lucky I have fast reflexes and often cover the brake w/ my foot - ready.

I know exactly how the freddie feels everytime his son Dalvin would take off on his bike, my son is 21, although he bought his first house, is extremely responsible and smart about life etc, accidents can happen in a second,outa our control and the accident may not be his fault he does know because he's lost a few friends killed on street bikes..So to be truthful i was absolutely relieved and happy when he sold his street bike a cpl wks ago, i smiled inside, obviously not right in front of him, because he is an adult and he knows i trust his judgment and i believe in him and its a parents job to let their child make their own decisions and to give them the tools to grow up and the space to make the right decisions..but yes HUMONGOUS relief when he sold his bike 🫶🙌❤ I can tell Freddie is an amazing father and they have a sweet,loving relationship

I think ALL ED nurses and doctors think the way Sister Jen thinks regarding drinking and drugs...unfortunately many family members don't want to deal with taking care of drunks and drug takers so they end up in the ED or A&E being babysat until they're sober which means they take up a bed someone really critical needs...if you can't hold your liquor then don't drink.

He's been waiting for 4 hours to see a medical personal? That dog wouldn't hunt in my country. Very strict on medical operations.

The UK needs to implement what the USA does and that is "Urgent Care" centers where if you need stitches like from a cut, or you've broken a bone, minor acute illness or anything that can be treated fairly quickly. This helps keep our Emergency rooms more available for more serious accidents , injuries and life threatening illnesses. Then you don't see patients that need one stitch, or a broken toe or wrist sitting around for 5,6,7 hours before someone even takes your name down.

We have that. It's just that not everyone uses them. If the A and E is closer or easier, most go there. Also, the Urgent Care Surgeries are usually not open after hours.

I'm not sure which emergency rooms you've been to but that isn't the case. I won't comment on the dreadful state of the USA medical care!

I would volunteer to fix the nose that's been bitten .... Biggest needle l could find and some navy blue wool and a bit of salt. Needless to say l could never do their job. I've lots of patience and pretty non judgmental but not that much!

It amazes me even after all the studies done on wearing helmets. People still aren't wearing them just going to show how little common sense there is now.
