Actually, in the actual books, he's motivation is based on wanting to save Middle Earth, to heal it and preserve it, like putting it all in a tiny glass bottle that only he could control. Sauron's motivation was a desire for order brought to its most extreme conclusion, like any tyrant. He is to morgoth's desire for destruction what Hitler's desire for "saving the world" was.

I think morgoths corruption ran too deep and in his redemption he believed that he was truly good and truly the savior of middle earth. Sauron was never the true embodiment of Evil, that was morgoth. Morgoth wanted to destroy creation. I think Sauron never wanted to destroy but had a lust for power (like all Maiar) and really believed he was doing something good. Thats why he would never attempt to free Morgoth or continue his masters path.

When she says “and you my king, the dark lord” she is so tempted to access power but she can’t and she fights him and that is why she is light ! But I think Sauron kind of think she could help him to balance him. He thinks he could control everything on Middle Earth and after all he’s a fallen angel he sees everything as extreme and his pride makes him believe he can redeemed all by himself. But he just wants to have power over everything. So .. we know where it leads. To me their relationship makes perfect sense. She is attracted to the power he has and him to the light she has. She is resisting him in the LOTR. Not only the ring but the HIM. That’s so interesting honestly.

Can we talk about the fact that Sauron was actually the good guy in this serie ? I mean, he saved Galadriel from drowning, he kneeled before the queen of numenor, he got a job as a blacksmith... and then Galadriel manipulated him and the numenoreans in order to get an army to conquer Mordor. She forced him into conquering a land he had no interest to, lowered his self esteem every time she could, and when she finally learn the truth about who he is, she hates him, say he's just unforgiveable, and tries to kill him. The Galadriel of this serie is the real villain. And now I truly believe she cannot be redeemed.

I think the writers were adding oomph to the show. To make it interesting to a broader audience (like the romantics etc). Sauron is all about power and control. He sees galadriel as closest to his equal. Hinting that what would start as a partnership could develope into more. Obviously it wont but it adds a different aspect of "what if"

Sauron's great sin was pride - he believed that he alone could order Middle Earth into a Utopia. Whereas Galadriel, Elrond, Gandalf and the rest of the Justice League believed that that was the perogative of the Creator.

Galdriel’s fatal flaw is not looking past her grudges. If she had truly been the person to “bind” Sauron to the light, then they could have “saved” middle earth for real. But she couldn’t look past the blood feud. She quite possibly could have prevented all the evil. Also, this gives her line when she rejects the ring from Frodo to hold more weight as she says “I have past the test”. She jumped ship from the boat to destroy Sauron, she ends up being the one to thrust him into power, and when opportunity presents itself, she rejects the power, finally able to allow herself back to the Undying Lands

He just didn't trust the Valar to allow him to redeem himself and not cast him straight into the Void, so he wanted to redeem himself first by healing Middle Earth. But centuries of serving the dark warped him and he didn't see how his methods would bring more evil and that ends do not justify the means. Hence where Galadriel could have stepped in.

To be fair though, Sauron is from the same "order of angels" as Gandalf and the other wizards, and the only time we hear from Sauron in the books, when Pippin butt-dials him on the Palantir, he sounds like a regular guy there too. "Tell Saruman that this dainty is not for him. I will send for it at once. Do you understand? Say just that!" He sounds pretty excited too, because he's finally gonna get that ring!

Both Sauron (his true name is Mairon actually) and Gandalf (Olorin) and Saruman (Kurumo) are the Maiar (if we take a parallel to Christian lore, Maiar are lesser angels) who were created by that world's God to serve the Valar (Archangels of that world). Mairon was originally the servant of Aule - the Smith Valar. Melkor (true name of Morgoth) was a Valar and good originally too - he is that world's Lucifer - like Lucifer he became too prideful and questioned God and seduced many good guys to his side - Mairon included

When I first saw this scene, I thought how Tolkien might write it, had he planned such a meeting: Galadriel would tell Sauron that if he wanted to be forgiven, then to submit to the will of the Valar and the judgement of Manwe, for she did not have it in her power to pardon him. Sauron's actual encounter (to the extent that he ever sought forgiveness, which was questionable, even to Tolkien) was with the herald of Manwe, not Galadriel. The account goes that Sauron was ashamed upon being told what he must do by the herald, and then fled, refusing to seek pardon. I wonder why the writers of Rings of Power strayed from this? It suggests a change in the character of Sauron...?

Wish the legal issues and rights obtained from LOTR and the silmilrian wasn’t an issue. I mean, Annatar isn’t something I can easily write off but I do respect and say I can live and be satisfied with that they had to work and write with. This is very well done IMO for lack of source material and had to get creative. But still, Annatar will always be the force behind the scenes. Here is the problem even Tolkien believe Sauron could be redeemed if given the chance and had someone to guide him Now Sauron in the show as depicted is said actually wants to be redeemed every action he has taken as been away from evil and to improve lives, saying he wanted to abandon his evil ways and redeem himself by healing everything That’s his methods and mindset might be off but his heart is in the right place it’s being alone and thinking he is the only one who is willing to fix it leads him to think he must control evil to true good but ultimately becomes evil by trying ti control it Now don’t think I’m defending this show or saying these writers are good But this concept Isn’t actually actually isn’t far off from the books with a possibility for a redeemable Sauron or a Sauron who wants to do good but leads down to becoming a near fully evil person the difference is how whole methods were wrong which he deemed necessary because to him evil can’t be destroyed only controled hence why he made the rings hence why he became the dark lord he viewed the world filled with evil people and he thought he could govern them better if they allowed him to be I change but he couldn’t given his history with morgoth Hence why he made the rings and why conflict started In the show he actually abandoned his idea to rule all like that, at best he says he rules that south lands but he never wanted to be a ruler Galadriel said he was based on the fact he has the crest of the south lands king which he probably kept in the event he did want to rule a good land He essentially just wanted to live quietly on numinor and leave it at that Or even just help the elves Essentially nothing suggested he wanted to go back to evil Only when he saw Galadriel someone who said he could be free of his past made him feel good again but once she knew that he was Sauron she said he is irredeemable Basically the one person that made him feel like he could do good again basically said he should be damned for all eternity despite at least trying to be redeemed And now has fully embraced being the dark lord cause she made it clear even someone like her can’t forgive him Hell the show itself actually said Galadriel starts the downfall of numinor, saying the vision happens with her arrival And she says Galadriel and Sauron were brought together by a greater power Implying the valar or Eru wants Sauron to be redeemed as well and Galadriel just has to guide him towards goodness or just outright forgive him not necessarily to be romantic with him As when she leaves numinor the petals fall implying the valar are actually losing faith in what’s happening Meaning Galadriel leaving and saruon being alone might lead to ruin Essentially the show is saying Sauron could have been redeemed and all he needed was Galadriel’s forgiveness and guidance She is ultimately responsible for his return in the context of the show She is the true villain as she ultimately created the lord of the ring’s himself

If you vandalize something like that, people have a right to be angry. We did not ask for this show. In fact, most fans were sceptical from the very start of this project. I just hope Amazone doesnt make any profit with it so they cancel the show. But I know that you do not care which is fine. If you would ever happen to have the Lord of the ring book in your hand, I doubt you would read past page 2^^ Some people just have lower standards

I could never wrap my head around this show. They so butchered the timeline, it's not even funny. Galadriel is like 3000 years old at this point, and still acts like an angsty child. Events that happened over thousands of years got crammed into what seemed like a months time. Not to mention the piss poor story writing the actors had to work with.. It's a downright travesty!

Can't believe the writers did this to the mythos and legends and art of the great Professor Tolkien. I just.. it's heresy... it's not even anger anymore.. it's sadness. And so few people read these days, they'll think this is how it all went down, and have no idea. That's what the people running this show wanted. Re write Tolkien in their image, and just let the drones consume, consume, consume their nonsense. Sad times. With all the problems in the world would have been nice to have a faithful, beautiful story to escape too, instead woke, hyper feminist, men emasculating woke nonsense in every possible way.

La forma de elfo era una más de las formas que Sauron usaba. Podía tomar la forma del ser que quisiera, incluso de animales, razón por la cual en esta historia se presenta como humano. Para pasar desapercibido y ganarse la confianza de los elfos... especialmente de Galadriel.
