I am 42 and I could literally overdose on nostalgia. The 90's was the last decade where there was still an innocence to life. They had the best movies, tv, and music. I sometimes sit and just close my eyes and go back to this time on my mind...just immersing myself in all the memories. I cry a lot just yearning for those days that I can never get back. The world is such a 💩show today and I just wish I could be a kid again. Just wanting to relive all those precious times 😢. I thank God for KZbin...one of the only online platforms I really look at. Long live the 90's !!!! 👍👍👍💜💜💜

Songs like this are reminders of the fact that music indeed peaked in the second half of the 20th century. Singers were not celebrities. They were famous for having a "one in a million" type of talent and the focus was on their music instead of their private lives. They could get on stage any time anywhere and could sing live. Older songs provided so much more variety sonically. Even the tiniest background sounds were carefully crafted for the sake of quality over quantity. There is not much novelty these days, a lot of songs are cover songs or based on recycling successful samples. I remember how we thought in the 90s that the new millennium would certainly bring so much advancement. Now we look back and realize we were living in a golden era when we mistakenly thought we had something way better ahead of us.

I feel the same for Japanese music. Some of my all-time favorite artists are Japanese (L'Arc-en-Ciel, Aiko, Ajikan, Yui, Sukima Switch, etc.) I may not understand the lyrics unless I Google them, but the music, artistry, and the Japanese words make me feel different things such as sadness, joy, and nostalgia. ❤

I first came across this song at work. It was playing from the loudspeakers in the building. That was in 2016-2023. It immediately caught my ear and after leaving the job the song stayed with me and then I found this video last year and it went deeper into my brain and brought back the memories from working at the job I was in. I love this song still in 2024 and I wouldn't have probably heard it outside of my job.

When superstars and cannonballs are running through your head A television freak show cops and robbers everywhere Subway makes me nervous, people pushing me too far I've got to break away So take my hand now 'Cause I want to live like animals Careless and free like animals I want to live I want to run through the jungle The wind in my hair and the sand at my feet I've been having difficulties keeping to myself Feelings and emotions better left up on the shelf Animals and children tell the truth, they never lie Which one is more human There's a thought, now you decide Compassion in the jungle Compassion in your hands, yeah Would you like to make a run for it Would you like to take my hand, yeah 'Cause I want to live like animals Careless and free like animals I want to live I want to run through the jungle The wind in my hair and the sand at my feet Sometimes this life can get you down It's so confusing There's so many rules to follow And I feel it 'Cause I just run away in my mind Superstars and cannonballs running through your head Television freak show cops and robbers everywhere Animals and children tell the truth, they never lie Which one is more human There's a thought, now you decide Compassion in the jungle Compassion in your hands, yeah Would you like to make a run for it Would you like to take my hand, yeah 'Cause I want to live like animals Careless and free like animals I want to live I want to run through the jungle The wind in my hair and the sand at my feet

It’s almost a simple religion this song explaining why animals and children have no bad intentions and adult humans are the Evil we fear even though we all want the same thing to live careless and free long lives devoid of tragedy! Brilliant and no donation or confession required!

Nope. Your mom wasn't lying. Neither was her mom when she said the same thing about the 80's and her mom when she said the same thing about the 70's. Five hundred years from now, your descendant will be telling her daughter that there was so much better music in the 24 century.
