For me, 3 key difference from the RAV4 that makes the Lexus much more rigid and yet firm- 1) laser welded continuous weld instead of spotweld for critical joints 2) 1180MPA ultra high tensile steel on key structural parts 3) rear double wishbone suspension (RAV4 uses multi links)
@naveenthemachine

Isn’t multi link the same as double wishbone rears? Because I remember the 2018 Camry had a double wishbone rear suspension but now they have multi link rears?

@@naveenthemachine I agree - to a point. While Enform is not great, I actually think the amount of flak it gets is a bit too much. It does everything I need it to do, and I know where everything is. I have to sit in one, but I think this is the first touch-based seat controls that I don't instantly hate. The positioning along the bottom row of the screen means the buttons are isolated from the rest of the controls, and I think it's a one-glance interaction, with the ability to brace your hand against something that is not a screen or button, much like some physical control layouts.

Excellent presentation, and putting the NX into perspective relative to its competitors. I'm generally pleased to see the reception it's getting, and the new infotainment has brought them up to par with just about everyone else if you ask me, if not better. If they could put this system into the ES, it'd definitely be the easy buy for me over any other vehicle thus far.
@naveenthemachine
@naveenthemachine 2 жыл бұрын
Well the reviewers say otherwise. Sofyan from redline said the nx interior and the nx350 turbo leave a bit to be desired. The nx250 has the same noisy 4 cylinder as the RAV4 Motortrend and Edmunds said the nx might still not be competitive and it’s no class leader by any means.
@Smychavo
@Smychavo 2 жыл бұрын
@@naveenthemachine Allow me to rephrase. I'm pleased that it's a step up over the last NX. They certainly put work into improving the tech, it's on par with everyone else I feel as far as interface, and ergonomics are concerned what put into perspective with other touch-centric infotainment systems. Yet just like SG mentions here, despite using the same platform, it's nowhere near as refined as the ES, even in its Luxury trim, which to me, is disappointing. If you ask me, this feels like a stopgap while they leadup to RZ. To be real with you I'm not even someone that gravitates towards the best options (which people conflate with the Germans) in a segment, I like different. I'm not a CUV buyer, I'd rather have a sedan, but even if I was, NX unfortunately doesn't do that for me. That would be GV70 for similar money to this, or hell, even something like the Alfa Stelvio if I really wanted something different.
@naveenthemachine
@naveenthemachine 2 жыл бұрын
@@Smychavo I prefer sedans too haha. The nx is an improvement no doubt but with really stiff competition from other brands including the new kid on the block genesis it’s becoming harder to justify that the nx is really competitive. They didn’t take the nx to the next level over a RAV4 or venza. Heck tbh the venza I think is the better nx
@Smychavo
@Smychavo 2 жыл бұрын
@@naveenthemachine I think the Venza is great for what it is too, arguably as good as the NX for slightly less money just about if we're ignoring the infotainment. Genesis still has work to convince others to buy into it despite their parity with others for a luxury experience (much of the same can be said with alot of the other 'B tier' luxury brands if you ask me), but I could realistically see myself in a G80 or G90.

I test drove all three trim levels and will go with the 250 if I decide to purchase. I was quoted a price of 42k for that trim level and can't understand for the life of me why folks would pay thousands more for a turbo or hybrid engine. The 350 isn't only roughly 50k but it only takes premium gas. The hybrid was fine, but it isn't going to outlast a naturally aspirated engine. I live in the Chicago area where it is rare for a dealer to get a 250, so I will need to travel to Indiana or Kentucky to buy a 250 but I think it's worth it.

Lot of fun though, Can’t tell it’s CVT. Fast launch off the stop, as both the electric and gas kick in together. A slingshot effect. When I say in sport mode, I mean changing it digitally on the dashboard to sport mode. I don’t mean the S on the shifter. I don’t understand that S on the shifter. Speaking from Polish perspective I was cross shopping BMW X3/NX/BMW 2 Active Tourer/3 Series/RAV4/Lexus ES with long term highway cruising in mind I could not find any other product better for it than NX. Lexus packs even the most basic ones with Adaptive cruise and lane keep assist as standard (which to me is a must have), at entry pricerange all BMWs except for X3 have cloth seats and are pretty gutless. Even X3 has basic 184hp engine. Lexus residuals make 20% difference with finance in the current climate, it has much nicer alcantara like/leather mix seats, much bigger infotainment (albeit weird aspect ratio), much better speakers and decent ride. ES basic model is a bit over 20% more expensive here. In the end the biggest gripe I had shopping in 2023 for a car was finding one that wasnt stupidly configured and well...available to purchase right away.

@@dcarts5616 Update, I received the car and I got into an accident. My exact configuration was AWD, 20 inch wheels, non performance pack, no leather interior, plus pack and pilot pack. The Polestar 2 is very sturdy and stable, whether you are doing high speed lane change or quick turns the car always feels like it has plenty of grip and you feel little G force. A very specific aspect that stood out for me is the smoothness of the car, with or without regen on, you could easily come into a full stop and you won't feel the transition from moving to stationary. The acceleration is plentiful and non jerky. Here comes the bad points, The vehicle is cramped both the front and rear seats doesn't feel like it has much room to stretch around. It's very easy to head your head while going in or out of the vehicle. The cup holder situation is idiotic, the rearview is bad but you could get used to it. The suspension doesn't handle broken/uneven pavement well, I would almost rate it the same as a model 3. It does beats its EPA range depending on your driving style, especially in the city. All in all, the Polestar 2 is pretty good but its neither a performance nor a grand touring vehicle. Its interior feels somewhat premium but the choice of material is subpar. It's sitting in a strange place where it excels at nothing other than the smoothness.

The 51K price tag for Luxury will likely be higher since it can still exclude popular options that really should have been part of the package, such as heated steering wheels, advanced park, Mark Levinson stereo, etc. When I price these in as well to get a fully loaded Lexus it comes to $57,000.
