I’m getting my 350h premium delivered in the US at the end of March or first week of April. I also concluded the 18 inch wheels were the way to go because there are better all season tires to choose from when the run flats wear out. More rubber and smaller rims are a much better choice for wintry northeast roads and will hold up better in roads with potholes.

1) This Lexus model targets a semi-older audience who doesn’t need that much except for reliability, good fuel economy, and the luxury feel. Despite its competition, Lexus will still see this model sold on the market anyways. 2) The size is sufficient for a couple with a maximum of 3 kids. It gets the job done, has decent cargo space, and has a cabin noise that isn’t overly obnoxious. 3) I agree that the pricing is pretty ridiculous if you want to upgrade to higher trims. Awesome review as always you two!

I've been waiting for these reviews to start coming out. Good to see. This was one of the vehicles I was considering to purchase 6 months ago. It wasn't quite out yet and I figured the pricing might be a bit higher than I was comfortable spending. I ended up buying a Venza Limited as it offered a bit more luxury than a RAV-4 but would still be less expensive than the Lexus and our local dealer happened to have the exact model I'd buy on their lot. This new NX does look like a good vehicle, but I don't regret getting my Venza (especially considering the lack of inventory of most vehicles right now). While the NX uses the larger electric motor to bump the HP numbers up by 21, I never find my Venza lacking power during normal driving (it's not a racecar, but it's not a dog either). As an added bonus, my Venza runs on regular gas. In all, I saved likely $10-$15k by getting the Venza and didn't really give up much (I like Lexus, but I'm not a badge guy). As is common in reviews, I don't get why the manufacturers insist on piano black plastics. They should really stop using it.

While I wouldn't pretend the current Venza has identical ride or fit-finish as the 350h, for me it is pretty great. And it uses regular gas, not premium. I have noticed in the past couple of weeks during our cold snap that the mileage is more like 9-9.5 L/100km (range of about 550km with a full tank), with seat warmer, front and rear defogger, and the windshield defroster turned on, and the 3-4 minutes of idling to brush off the snow and scrape the windshield. I am skeptical with these new powertrains in a all new model. If anyone can get it right initially it is Toyota, especially Lexus. If you could live with a smaller SUV, I would buy the Japanese built UX that has been out for a while allowing Toyota/Lexus to iron out any wrinkles. On the other hand, if you do not mind going up a size, then the RX is a better choice but slightly more expensive. It comes with the V6 which is phenomenal in both performance and fuel economy for its size. These turbo 4 cylinder engines are too tractor like and really take away the true essence of luxury. They may work for the RAV4 but not for Lexus. Lexus needs to offer a V6 hybrid powertrain on the NX and the next generation RX (which it will not). CVT experiment needs to stop and be replaced by a well tuned 9 or 10 speed automatic. In the city in slow traffic it works but everywhere else it’s a like a constant whining passenger that you cannot stop and get rid of.

I love the dashboard but I don’t understand why a piano black on the doors. I wish they stop making a big grill. It’s looks ready to eat something..perhaps snow? And too pricey. Great video Andrea! Cheers! ☕️☕️

Ok I have to comment on your fluffy, soft top Andrea. I'm a guy who grew up with 2 brothers, so what do I know about fluffy furry women's tops? Well, now I have 2 daughters 10 and 13 and I'm their wingman shopping now, and they've taught me to appreciate this soft fluffy world. The pants, the tops, the jackets.... LOL. Uniqlo here in Toronto is full of fluffiness. Anyways, you got 2 thumbs up from the girls. ;) Oh wait this is a car review. Lexus? I get why people love them, they are really well built and they hold their value. It's the smart buy but that nose... and it's not the most engaging drive is it? And the black piano, replace it with fluffy material!!!

Best comment ever! Thank you so much, this fluffy sweater is from Aritzia, that's next level for teenage girls, hang onto your wallet Dad. Tell the girls I love Uniqlo too.

Whats the main difference between the NX300h and the NX350h? That would be my next car I like it so much in this grey colour!!
@daicasg2 жыл бұрын
Just a nomenclature, or system of naming things, for example nx350h is for all-new model 2022 and nx300h for 2021 and older models. The same thing is applied for the rest of Lexus lineup such as LS460 vs LS500, LX570 vs LX600 and so on...

If you are a woman don’t buy this car. It’s not safe because there are situations where you can’t lock the doors. When you open the hatch all 4 doors unlock. If you want to lock them you can’t, even if you try-not with the key, not using the lock button inside the door, not with the touch lock on the door handle. With effort you can get the dealer to change this as it’s a dealer programmable option, but it will only work with the key fob. If you use the “hands free” option to open the hatch all 4 doors will unlock and you can’t change that. Another problem is that you can only lock the doors if all 4 doors are closed. One of the most unsafe features is that the default setting is for all 4 doors to unlock when the car is put in park. Luckily this is an option that can be changed on the vehicle settings. Make sure to change that right off the bat as there is no audible feedback to indicate whether the doors have been locked or unlocked. If you miss the little display on the dash you won’t know it happened.

Thanks you for the great review. I live in the Netherlands, the starting price for this car is €73.995,-. That is in Canadian dollars 108.824,-😢. Greeting from Jeroen.

Could the sound difference be that the other models you drove were “F-Sport” models, which are tuned more sporty? I’m leaning NX350H, Premium Package, no F-Sport.

Really like your reviews. I live in QC, and the NX350h that is comparable Equipment wise with the base NX450h+, with provincial rebates, is $4000 more than the plug-in. Given that, would you still go with the 350h? I have placed a deposit on a 450h+ based on this + added fuel economy of the 450. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that one!

If you can get the 450h for the same money, go for it.

The run flats are a deal killer. I am in Seattle where the roads are very noisy due to studded tires being legal. I'll keep my 2020 NX300 with its physical switches a while longer.

No such thing as a RAV4 platform. Its the TNGA-K platform. RAV4 is just a model. Is your opinion the RX450h is still better value?

This is my favourite trim (premium) However there's a signature basic trim below this one Starting 2025 the premium trim is the basic one - no longer signature trim No need to pay more money for a bigger screen or panoramic sun roof in my opinion!

I live in TN (grew up in West Van); I priced out the 350 turbo with the options I want v the 450h (whichcomesmuchbetterequiped). If you factor in the (I've been told) $7,500 federal rebate you get with the plug-in the cars are basically the same price (but you get the plug-in hybrid). Why would you not get the plug in ?
@MrKillerRC2 жыл бұрын
You have to owe $7,500 in taxes to actually use that credit. It’s not a rebate. Plus the 450h+ is only available in a handful of green states 🙄, not the Midwest. Plus the dealers are marking up the price.

Keep in mind that the Rav 4 has a vastly different ride quality. Even the Venza has significantly better ride quality than the Rav 4. I test drove these hybrids back to back two weeks ago and I can tell you that the difference is seriously palpable. The Rav 4 is also louder than either of the other two vehicles inside the cabin even at slow speeds.
@william67652 жыл бұрын
I test drove the rav4 hybrid. I think it was the limited. The cabin is not that quiet. If you are not bothered by it then the rav 4 is awesome. The digital cluster was great with lots of eco info.
