Alfa Romeo is attempting to re-boot the brand however, in a field of cars like the Mercedes C63 AMG and BMW M3 this seems to be a risky place for an experiment. We review the all new 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio QV to see if this is a winner or loser for FCA and the future of Alfa. We take one of the deepest looks at the car including all of the pros and cons to see whether or not affordable has fine print.

I'd REALLY like to hear the excuses that EVO, Drive, Motor Trend, et al have as to how is it that, even with six camera men per shoot, $100K in video equipment, professional writers and exotic locations, that an amateur, driving around the Chicago suburbs, produces more compelling car videos than they do, time and time again. Well done sir!

Motortrend KZbin does a GREAT job with their head 2 head videos. Matt is good but no comparison to mtrend. He does a GREAT AMAZING job but you can't beat people who do it full time with crew, script etc.
@overbuiltlimited
@overbuiltlimited 7 жыл бұрын
I said that the SG vids are more compelling and I stand by that statement. They carry much more information to a car buyer than any MT vid. Mark really conveys what it is like to live with the car. He goes into detail that the other guys just don't. I mean he spends ten minutes talking about the underside of the car. No one else does that. Then there are the truly awful scripts that MT has. They should fire whoever writes them. Truly nails on a chalkboard bad. So yes, SG can and does beat people who do it full time. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
@weedmastersr
@weedmastersr 7 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but I have to disagree. I have enjoyed watching this review of the Giulia QV much more than that of MotorTrend. MotorTrend might have a bigger budget but they're kinda crappy in the writing department. I don't subscribe to and understand their views as much as I do with this guy. They try to insert too much forced, unfunny, humor. Plus, these reviews are way more detailed.

MT and other biggies rely on ratings so they use gimmicks, such as burning rubber, drifting, fake screaming, yelling, good guy/ bad guy rhetoric, and other pre-written tactics to tell an exciting story. none of that here. production done is a piece of art.

The old Motortrend Ignition videos used to be good, when they had a structure: intro, drag strip, figure eight, canyons... but now they are all over the place and have some seriously schizophrenic editing.

Such a great review! More cuts than a JJ Abrams movie. Can't imagine the amount of hours you put in editing this. It's obvious that you put a higher amount of effort in your productions than literally ANY other car review site, including the professionals. I've said it before, but thank you for NOT cracking silly, predictable and unfunny jokes that make the video damn near unwatchable like some other shows. Harris, Cammisa and Lieberman I'm talking to you...

Steven silverman Could be. Cammisa's review of the 911R was quite good I thought. The guy can do a good car review. I believe I even commented there telling him so. He appreciates the little details that can make a car great and that it's not all about the numbers. So I'm not anti MT. I just don't understand why they feel they have to be schticky at all. It just comes new off as disingenuous and manufactured. They should leave that stuff to the Top Gear guys. Those guys have real chemistry and pull it off 100X better.

C63s- you want a brawny insane V8, bonkers looking interior. M3/M4- second car, a little too stiff to daily but still amazing performance, combined with great customizability. Giulia QV- all round balanced package. Completely unique looking car, closest you’ll get to a daily drivable Ferrari with insane performance when you want it combined with relaxed driving when you want it. Drives lighter than it is, and one of the most intense and connected driving experiences you can get from a sedan these days. Also quite reliable, but journalists looking for clicks won’t tell you that. All of them have their ups and downs…for me, this Alfa comes out on top.

Hi Steven, my problem is that the video is inaccurate in so many aspects. The whole story about the relationship between Ferrari and Fiat shows no knowledge of the business. Ferrari wanted to get out of FCA because they decided 'they were done with it' is a joke. FCA owned 90% of Ferrari. Sergio Marchionne is both the chairman of Ferrari and chief executive of FCA. The journalist is not comparing the car with its main competitors. I am just listening again his rant about the trunk size, which is the same size as the BMW M3...what the hell? As for the comfort, most people who actually drove this car without prejudice will tell you one of the key strengths of the car is its comfort even on hard suspension mode.
@michelcoulon3923
@michelcoulon3923 7 жыл бұрын
When he says it is the last Alfa designed in cooperation with Ferrari, it is also not accurate. Ferrari helped build the whole platform that will also be used for the Stelvio and key new cars for the next 10 years. The number of non accurate statements in this videos is stunning...
@savagegeese
@savagegeese 7 жыл бұрын
You are cherry picking plenty out of the video. They spun Ferrari off to make that division money. FCA is separated from Ferrari, period. Whether or not they share resources depends on how that spin off is structured. And yes the architecture will be re-used and the Stelvio will be a clone but going forward they will be farther from this car. Lastly The Alfa is a mid sized car, the trunk space in the Alfa is 12 Cubic Feet. BMW M2 has 14. Honda Accord has 15.8 Honda Civic 15.1. Its small no matter how you look at it.

This is better than 99.9% of car reviewers out there. And his response about the interior is exactly how I thought when I first looked at these cars. I thought to myself, if that was without badges, I’d think it’s a Mazda.

late to the party but I'd love to see you review the 2.0T Giulia with AWD (preferably the 2020 that has the updated interior). I'm curious how much of the handling & performance is retained with the much less powerful engine. Seems like if you get the same or similar handling, transmission performance & interior quality and don't need the insane power of the QV then the 2.0T would be a huge bargain.

You actually showed us the mechanicals of the car -- Thank you!!! This is the best review of all. Great research on your part, too. Thanks for providing the informed review of the components that matter, along with the test drive and critiques. So far I've driven the Ti Q4 with sport package. That's a shockingly great fun/$ value, with what looks like much of the underpinnings of the Quadrifoglio (but minus lots too, such as the QF's dual exhaust and subframe aero shielding) I hope you can review that less expensive model too, and crank it up on the lift to see how many components it shares with its 2x more expensive big brother. One question on the QF's underbody stuff -- Forward of the rear wheels, it all looks like some sort of compressed jute or such. Is that actually just a fabric material as it looks like? If so, that wouldn't last even a whole year in New England weather!

I've owned my Giulia Quad since May 2017 with 25000 glorious miles....I have the Carbon Fiber brake option so brake dust is a non issue....I have the dark 5 hole wheels that I think are far more beautiful and Alfa than the "Technico" wheels you have in this video.....also the steel brakes throw off a ton of dust...I love the fact that I don't see myself coming and going (ala M 3 / M 4 / M 5) and my uniqueness apparently drives those Bimmer boys crazy because all they want to do is race on public streets with grandpa and grandma behind the wheel....no thanks....want to race, meet me at the track...but don't cry when my Alfa SMOKES YOUR BIMMER !!!! Had to turn in my 2017 Giulia 2.0, I loved get but couldn't rely on her after a monthlong fiasco in the shop. You forgot to mention that the cupholders are two different sizes 😂. The standard seats are a joke as well, skinny me was flying around the seat through every turn.

Yes this is an excellent review - the best by far I have had the pleasure of viewing. I am long-standing owner of Alfa 156 GTA and fully intend to purchase the QV in next few months but one of my concerns is that here in the crowded and heavily policed UK it may be very difficult not to exploit the QV talents or even 70 % and lose my licence but it is not a deal breaker and I will get one -probably in grey or black so as not to attract attention of the over zealous and mis- prioritised UK traffic police 👌

And? Did you get one? I did, a manual one in black. Coincidentally, I also own a 156 GTA. Two very different cars but that’s exactly why it’s great to own both. The Giulia is much more competent in every way. However, the moments of thrill can only be brief as you can lose your license faster than you can say ‘Quadrifoglio’. And although the noise of the Giulia is nice, it can’t hold a candle to the Busso. So get a Giulia, but keep the 156!

I'm so fed up by those ridiculous claims on the internet. Always wiping, destroying or crushing something on roads limited at 80 kp/h and great max 130 kp/h highway. The simple fact somebody need to wipe/destroy/crunch another brands car is a call for a lack of self confidence or awareness. You don't need to prove yourself, enjoy driving man. We have enough wars going on right now, car should not be part of it.

We also don't know what reliability will come out of this car right now. We just know that a Ferraris are costing a TON of money to run and maintain properly. So this car could become a giant pain in the @ss to own after a while. But only future will tell us.

@Ian Lee Because American buy Japanese cars like Toyota and Honda a lot, they know what reliability is. You should also look more into things like the Shelby GT350R, Corvette, Viper, they're good in corners and less expensive than European competition But I am by no mean a "fan" of American car products, I just like these 3 because they are some of the only ones that handle well I guess, and I've always more been on the Japanese car side, but I love those Alfas
