You're always helpful and I have a question. Maybe a video idea for you. I've painted metallics before, but on assembled cars. I'm about to do a full color change on a stepside pick up truck. I have it all in pieces, fenders off the bed, bed separate from cab, etc. How would you tackle it? Can I do the bed and everything off the vehicle? I also can't fit every part, of the truck, in my booth at the same time. Thanks, in advance!

Not calling anyone out, but I watch a lot of videos and to back this up, I tried a small repair of metallic wet, and it worked fine, in fact, better than relying on using basecoat blender (clear base, binder, etc). That one tip as well as others has really helped me step up my skills and increasing speed while being able to handle faster guns now is one of them. You give awesome advice man! Hey do you have any experience with doing spot work with single stage? I've got to spot repair a 1971 original paint car (acrylic enamel single stage) and I need to figure out the best way to blend into the front side of the door without using clear (it'll have a different sheen even with the original paint polished). I've never used single stage but I was thinking maybe 1500 where I'll have solid new paint then spray blender or adhesion promoter on the entire door and feather out over that, then if needed a little more blender on top of the feathered area. Do you think that will adhere good? I thought maybe you'd have some experience with these situations to tell me if that'll be garbage or not. I'll be spraying acrylic enamel single stage.

@@stephenwhite5444 you'll basically need to prep the blend area the way I did in this video. 👇🏼 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGPSg51_l72Sb6Msi=mOTkTx3jiXwEAmrd Use a scuff paste, Then Instead of using the aresol can blender use a clear coat blender from a can that you pour into your gun. Mix that with trace amounts of already sprayable activated single stage. Blend the blending agent with the paint into the scuffed area, the scuff will give it enough mechanical bond to adhear. Then give a good polish with NO sanding. Medium speed let the panel warm up from the buffer and it'll melt that finish in. Polish and use a silicone free wax. Then wait 3 weeks. And wax it with a silicone based wax like a carnauba or something and it should be fine. I might just have to make a video on it to make it clear what I'm saying. Hopefully that helps.

If it needs a drop coat then give it a drop coat. And you'll definitely want to give more than two coats of metallic. Some areas have a climate that's so hot the painters aren't not even able to do a drop coat. So it all depends on your environment look at the panel and determine what it needs.

@thetriggerman95417 күн бұрын
Yes I completely understand what you mean. Like I said in videos in the past your most important step is going to be your sealer it's pretty much impossible to have a non-pely finish when you put down peely sealer. Only three things you can really do 1 try not to burn through your primer and don't use sealer. 2 use a better gun that will give you a flatter sealer finish. 3 if none of that works find a different sealer that goes down smoother for you or maybe even add a little more reducer to your sealer so that it flows out better for you. Excellent video and well stated. I think beginners with different guns also need to look at is the pattern their gun is spraying at so they can determine their overlap and gun distance. If you have more of a SATA O-pattern you really need to move. Gun distance is key no matter what gun to determine how wet is wet

💯 correct everything has to be taken into consideration for a wet even application
