For anyone wanting this to do your own…. Couple little tips for you. Always pull the derby cover screws before you drain primary just incase you strip or snap a bolt. Common here as lots of folks put lock tight where they shouldn’t…. Not a requirement but I add liquid thread sealant to the drain plugs as well. This is a decent at home garage service… but you didn’t actually hit every thing a good shop would. Grabbing a fastener with your fingers does not count as “checking critical fasteners” lol

It’s from NH Pro Equipment. Not sure of the msrp now since we bought it about ten years ago!

Idk about the touring models, but on the softails, a full quart into that primary is too much. I haven’t tried the heavy gear oil, but I like the Formula +
@fennecfox808410 ай бұрын
It's the same on the touring bikes. Manual calls for 28oz in transmission and primary. This is likely overfilling by at least a couple ounces. At least that's the case in the 2022 touring owner's manual.

Remember to lube the oil filter o ring with new oil and pre fill the filter with oil. That lube job he did is probably why it was so hard to get off

15,000 miles, only the engine oil needs to be changed on later model 2018+ softtails.

Great video. Just a couple of questions. 1: The service manual on my 21’ Street Glide states to check the belt tension with the rear wheel suspended off of the ground while in neutral. Do you think that makes any difference? 2: I know on the 21’ you have to check the transmission oil with the bike on the jiffy stand. Is that year different, or are y’all just kind of like F it?

Thanks for watching. It’s definitely always best to reference your manual for detailed specifications. For the videos sake this was more of a quick run through.

@@3_AM Yeah. I wasn’t trying to be a smart ass. That’s one of the few videos that I’ve seen that showed a lot of the other thing’s involved in the 15K service besides the three holes. I just printed out a copy of the check list in the manual and went down it. When l did mine. Brake fluid tester and all.

@@PaulG75 no worries . We use the same checklist. From the creator side “how to” videos are a tricky subject. Even as viewers ourselves we’ll look at a few videos on a topic to make sure points are consistent!

Think u ment to use the word Monotonous not redundant, Always use new oil to lube the filter o ring and also, you're supposed to put thread sealer on the oil drain plugs ,,USE A Torque wrench!!

So much wrong with this but I don’t think they were being serious about the service. I think it’s supposed to be a comedy show. Do not use this as instruction for service.

Amsoil is $100 for the complete fluid change.
@3_AM Жыл бұрын
I've thought about doing that, as I run Amsoil in all my other stuff. But for now I like buying Harley oil from the dealer so there's no questions of my service intervals should I need my warranty.
@freebehindbars8654 Жыл бұрын
@@3_AM HD lost a lawsuit involving that exact thing. They were denying claims bc people were using other brands, which went against federal law. Amsoil is better, not that any oil is bad, just the lab test and numerous independent studies proving it. Project Farm has a few good videos on it. Anyway, I like my HD’s, can’t stand the motor company bc of their bs.
