just had the same exact issue this weekend, I did end up pushing it all the way so i didnt have to turn off and on but when i got home i tried to re-calibrate it but didnt work. Gonna lube it up when i get home, thanks for sharing!

we have our minn kota on vertical jammed or stuck on the holder, we tried to pull the lever so that we can push the motor out but no avail we can't move it - any advice or suggestion how to push the motor out in between the holder - please let us know - thanks and appreciate it

It definitely means more maintenance.. and why I want to get a riptide.. but even riptides need cleaning after salt.. but with the reactor 40 kicker auto pilot I won’t need the bow mount on the boat in the salt at all.. it will let me steer and control the boat with the kicker by remote .. now if I don’t use the bow mount to steer.. I or someone has to steer from the helm .. thanks for watching and commenting..

I wish I could have made one first but there are a few different ones already on the market.. the reactor 40 is the newest one form Garmin.. it’s actually replacing the TR-1 which has led the industry for years.. there is also panther steer with pro troll.. but that one has no auto pilot no gps just throttle and steering control..

Getting ready to install my Ulterra in a couple days. Keeping it lubed seems to be a necessity with these self deploying motors. My boat is stored in my garage. So weather isn't a concern. But I'll hit it with some WD40 or PB Blaster to make sure I don't have issues later.

HELP!!!!! My last fishing trip, my Minn Kota Ulterra "paused" while deploying once it raised up to a vertical position. Mr. UnlikeU, I tried what you showed in this video and all I could get it to do was lower the shaft, not raise it and not allow me to stow. Unfortunately I have a tongue mounted step directly below the trolling motor while on the trailer. If I go down another 1/2", it will bottom out on the step. Any suggestions how I could get it to stow?????? THANK YOU!!!! Reply

I would recommend removing the step and go through a trim stow reset procedure. See if that fixes your issue.

I won't either I sold the boat I had it on and my new boat I have the terrova. You can try taking it off.. a pain if it's not on a quick release. And try some tests on the bench or take it to a shop.. if it deploys and latches and will trim down and not up it's probably the trim motor.. and the new one comes with a belt..

No they should both move on sides .. if you push the lock bar in the bottom..

Haven't had any trouble with mine yet but I will have to check that out. 2016 I upgraded it myself to an I pilot link. 2 eBay remotes and $500 later lol.

Awesome! Yeah I’ve had just a couple issues with mine.. but this one I’m kinda kicking myself for not trying the WD first.. but I had sold it to a buddy assuming the dampener shock was the issue because with it off it worked fine..

the biggest issue i have with the edge 45 is the steering is just awkward, with your foot and then to activate it with big toe I find it very weird. I don't care about speed but i might get a power drive

Yes sir, that is something I want .. I really only use the bow mount to steer.. I use the kicker to push.. but with the kicker being auto pilot with a hand held remote.. I would never have to worry about batteries going low.. especially on long fishing trips.. but I still want a bow mount.. they give you more control and i couldn’t drift live bait with just the kicker auto pilot.. that is why I’ll be keeping this one for awhile.. eventually I get a riptide.. thanks for watching and commenting.

Everyone talks so bad about these motors. But I’ve had mine since 2017 and use the hell out of it. They just need every blue moon a little TLC. Just to oil the pivot points like you had said. If mine ever dies I’ll get another for sure.

Another great tutorial...Thanks! My Ulterra is about two years old...no problems so far but it’s getting some WD-40 soon thanks to your vid. While we’re on this topic, what’s your take on using Ulterra or Terrova in saltwater? Also, is it wise to cover such trolling motors with plastic or something similar whenever boating on saltwater? I troll for halibut using my big motor and I always cover my trolling motor to protect it from salt but wonder if it’s necessary.

So I use mine in the salt.. and I want to get a riptide.. but even riptide requires that you clean them after salt use.. really the only difference is the paint on the motor is made for salt and holds up better.. and no built in transducer.. and color of course.. also one of the reasons I want the reactor 40 kicker auto pilot because it will let me fish and control the boat by remote control with gps and throttle control.. and leave the bow mount at home.. .. now I use it to steer and use the kicker to push.. minn kota of course recommends never using a fresh water version in the salt water.. thank you for watching and commenting..
