Great video. I definitely love the clear bins visually. But it is nice to see that it can be done cheaper if needed.

Thank you so much for going in detail on the pros and cons of doing each project! You were very very detailed. I also noticed through my own experirience the products of the dollar stores many times use less plastic and are flimsier but its the choice you make for each project. Sometimes its worth cutting cost. Great video - I appreciate the time you and Tashia took to do it!

I loved seeing the differences in products in the exact same space. I’m often curious about such comparisons, but don’t want to go the trouble/expense to organize twice . You did a great job showing us the differences!!

I definitely like the clear bins. Looking at the organization of them soothes my heart and mind. I don’t get that from the others. However, my main concern with both, is actually completing the task
@barbarasolsaa54582 жыл бұрын
The orange bins have the large lip because they actually lock together. I use them and lock them together which makes them much sturdier. That doesn't work if you want to pull out the bins, but if you want them to be sturdier and use less space, lock them together!

For aesthetics, you can also turn those orange bins around so that the taller side faces out. It makes them look better and they can still be pulled out individually. On the con side for those containers, FYI, they do not work well on their own if you don't have something next to them and you put taller/heavier items like books, etc. then they fall over. (I tried them on a desktop.)

I think the clear bins make everything look neater because they are all uniform. But it's great to see what can be done on a budget. Great video!

I like both (don't know if it's worth an extra $300), but I can't help thinking that the ideal is somewhere in between, with some items from the Container Store and some from Dollar Tree.

I like the look of all the orange actually! Interesting video and well done.

The smell is likely Formaldehyde off-gassing. Anything that is cloth and made overseas is sprayed with it so the natural fibres don't rot before they get to their final destination.

Great video! Very fun and helpful to see the differences, for those of us who are visual and can't quite 'see' in our heads. I was surprised at the price difference, so appreciate you sharing that. The video also helped me to be aware of my visual preferences, which sometimes clash with my budgetary preferences🤣

Thanks for this video. Obviously I think the cleat bins with labels look organized but the price difference many people can't afford or don't want to. This helps them. Walmart is also starting to carry some bins that are not clear sort of opaque.

WoW Laura! That was a very ambitious project ya'll took on! .. the shelf with the orange Dollar Tree bins, if the books were removed from the bins and put bookends that slide under the books it would free up HALF that shelf. . . That smell on the cloth bins is the smell of China 😉

Great comparison. I have a lot of Dollar Tree bins. The cloth bins smell like a chicken coop. I kno because we used to have chickens. The smell has finally dissipated after 3 years. Just airing them didn’t work. Spraying with Odo Ban didn’t work. Time did.

Great video! Really appreciated you going to all that work to show us a real example of both organization options & telling us the pros & cons you discovered in the process. (I love those labels, too!) I just wish the Container Store offered these bins in solid white. Have you ever spray painted or painted the Container Store bins? Since they don’t come in white & I don’t like being able to see through the container, I’ve wondered about painting them - or at least painting the end / side seen as I open the closet door. 🤷♀️ If so, what type of paint would be best?

Love the first one...when those smells "off-gas", they don't just dissipate, as one might think...those gases are breathed in by whoever is in your house. Yipes! Sorry to be a heavy but many of them are formaldehyde-based (yes, like embalming fluid) to keep things from wrinkling in transit. Be ware. Over time they can make you sick. M

Very good video on comparisons. The only other thought I had was the dollar tree wasn’t labeled and it definitely isn’t as easy for kids to take things out and put back away. So the system might not be as good and last even if it is less.
@GetOrganizedHQ2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would definitely help if we added labels to that.

I think the clear containers look better. In the UK we have Poundland & some of their containers are total rubbish. Some are often split. A couple of years ago I bought a plastic chopping board from Poundland & it kept sliding around the worktop. So dangerous. In the end I bought a much better quality one from Amazon which doesn't slide around. I personally would rather pay a bit more money for good quality containers that ones that are rubbish. By the way, when people in the US call them bins I usually chuckle, as a bin in the UK is something that you put ribbish into.

I often wonder why, if you're using clear acrylic containers, is it necessary to label them? I mean, unless you're legally blind, you ought to be able to see what is in there. Sorry, but it seems like overkill to me.
@GetOrganizedHQ2 жыл бұрын
I've found it makes it easier to see at a glance, and we all put things away better.
@brendatomlinson4 ай бұрын
Everyone is different but for me, saving that half-second or so of glancing at the label rather than computing in my brain what is in the bin saves me time and frustration. I label literally everything I can so I know at a glance what goes where.
