The vw polo bluemotion from 2008 uses a 1.4 tdi and they claim 86mpg. I owned a 03 Renault Megane 1.5 DCi and on a trip that averaged 88mpg and yes I did the maths as well so it’s accurate

This would make a great knock about car. I love cheap cars for nipping to the shop, tip runs and leaving in train station car parks. Owning a cheap car is one less thing to worry about in a stress filled world 😁👍🏻

The little Ibiza needs saving! Starts and runs is a big part of success, and yeah it may need an all round suspension upgrade and some proper wheels but overall, it’s quite a good little motor now the valeter has finished with it!

The Coilovers are from JOM, its a very cheap suspension (in germany you pay about 250€ for the coilover set). In the back i think the part with the thread ( sorry, i dont know the english name of that) has been removed to be able to get deeper. The company is known for a short lifetime and rust at the threads.

Great content as ever. Hopefully road test is OK, I think that will be your decision maker! If it's OK, fit set of good used OEM shocks and springs all round, good used exhaust system, clean up, MOT and move it on.

Love the Ibiza ! Will definitely tidy up well, salvage yard suspension and exhaust hopefully to keep costs down and a good machine polish and it will make someone a decent little runaround. Nice to see it being saved still has plenty of life in it.

I had JOM coilovers on my golf a few years ago, i think they lasted less than a thousand miles before the front shocks came loose inside the housings, utter poop.

you can upgrade the rear drum brakes with discs and calipers, it's easy to do, i had done it in a polo 9n3

@@zkljaja over here, they're not getting much over £1200, unless it's an exceptional car, so breaking even is probably is a good thing, may make a few quid, but the valet would not have been cheap, certainly the state it was in... Dean will make the best choice either way.. We like to see cars like this back on the road...

Gutted dpf and remapped - some boy racers been at it which is why it whistles. (Basically straight piped) They spent all that money on suspension I bet they made it go a bit quicker as well I'd have chucked the strut back in sent it up the yard and then decided if it was worth spending any money on... it'll be a cheap runner for someone is my guess. Not bad for 70mpg / £20 a year tax

You should never trust what an online website tells you relating to the tyre size. They pull information that the manufacturer submitted to the DVLA when it left the factory. However, the dealer can change the wheels for something more fancy, like going from 16" to an 18" alloy. This change will not be reflected on the tyre website. The 175 80 14's you had fitted on that are caravan tyres!

Hiya Dean, I know it's not an M series, or an R32 etc, but still a runner...minimal outlay to get it roadworthy and off your hands......I bought a Golf 130tdi estate about 5 years ago...98,000 on clock, really dirty interior, oil not rubbish like yours, but was sold as non runner ....found out in tank pump was full of black gunk, flushed tank, new pump, car has now done 208,000, has done 3 Europe tours of approx 3,000 mile each, and up until early last year, was doing a weekly drive to Dover and back for my work....as matter of interest, I can get a newer/fancier car, but at moment it works, faultlessly....and see no need to change it :) Good luck with your other cars too.

Jom=budget suspension. Had a set of coilovers on a v5 beetle I had just a budget brand fine for cruising but that’s it . The car will do someone a turn that’s for sure.

Ibiza is pretty much indestructible, it clearly went through hell and the way back and it still looks rather decent and salvageable after all IMO, not even a check engine light came on at least right away and seems to run smooth at least of engine and gearbox, also not that high of a mileage, I reckon a little suspension and exhaust work should be more than enough to be flipped for a profit or to keep a nice cheap beater to run errands.

If a battery is hot while charging is just faulty and can even explode, so if i were you i would throw it away asap, it cant keep the charge and it overheats while trying to charge

You can pick up a set of OEM alloys on eBay for a hundred quid, a steering wheel for 35, maybe give it the full Cupra bodykit while you’re at it? You’ll get your money back and more selling it to some 17 year old.
