The one that I always remember as just making me CRINGE hard, was when that lady stuck her hand up into that box to try and get the antidote...only to have her wrist get cut up with razors and not be able to pull her hand back down without it cutting her more 😬

To me I would go for the the newer traps from saw X like the Brain surgery trap But if saw were to have a video game it should be like a telltale game. Telltale is extremely good at making extremely well written stories for their games and it all depends on the choices of the players and we view the consequences. I wish telltale would come back because Saw seems likes a good choice to make a game out of and say that the game is not canon and it’s ok we’re there for story and death traps

Good summary :) I watched a playthrough of this ages ago and was infuriated with the minigames as well - they’re so repetitive and unimaginative! Especially as Konami were at one point thinking that this universe would be their new horror focus instead of the Silent Hill games - it’s a bit like those with all the imagination surgically removed (in three minutes, or this anvil will fall on your head and it’s an automatic lock-in)

I actually had to look that up and saw that according to a Konami marketing guy (who said it in a Variety interview that sadly seems to no longer be on the internet), they did indeed see this franchise as something that could be on par with Silent Hill... now, it WAS just a marketing guy from their US division, who knows if the big decision makers believed it as well, but deciding to just buy a franchise and farm it out to others instead of treasure the talents that they had to further grow their games... sure feels like a Konami-thing to do.

And to think I haven't seen ONE single Saw movie so far in my life, yet still enjoyed this video despite only being about one of the games... well, I may not know the franchise but I know horror games. And this one, yeah... when the main mechanism seems to be "puzzle minigames" instead of the more elaborate ordeals like in Resident Evil or Silent Hill, pouring on grime and action... I know Saw is usually seen as a grimy gore-franchise more than cerebral stuff, but I feel like a less action-y, more Silent Hill puzzle-solving / exploration game could have been better, make it a sprawling complex to investigate rather than just hallways with traps and enemies.

To me the only Saw film worth owning is the original Saw (2004). The series became a convoluted mess that focused more on gruesome spectacle over character development and atmosphere, or a plot that makes sense. Yeah, this game is not for me.
