Yeah seriously I usually don’t like to exaggerate but I honestly think if they keep doing this it could be a flat out dangerous trope. It could create an unrealistic stereotypical outlook on people who either don’t believe or do but don’t practice it constantly. Not all people like that are awful people. I had to develop more to get that idea out of my head that non religious are always bad

One of the most influential films in cinema, one of the greatest movie villains of all time, one of the best scenes in movie history, and a wonderful Christian message. Not one you'd see covered by PureFlix, but an important one. Do it, Kevin! You've done horror before. Watch a GOOD Christian horror film.

OMGosh! I love that movie! The perfect "christian" movie that portays true and false christians and how sometimes we christians tend to be gulluble idiots. To bad when the movie first came out, it was a finiavial and critical flop. It discouraged the director to direct ever again. It has a terrific rating on Rotten Tomatoes today, though.

Okay I have a serious theological problem with this film (normally other PureFlix films are laughable and I don't really make a statement) And I like that Kevin addressed that it was a weird Christian movie. This defines Christianity as a group of nice, happy American people and not a Theology or Ideology. Not only is this movie bad from a filming prospective, it's bad from a Theological Christian perspective because it's implying God will take someone's faith and the Holy Spirit away if you ask Him to. This film also implies that simply being a nice person is what makes you a Christian instead of Christ and His Word--and that it somehow means that all non-Christians are mean people. And it also implies that simply saying "it's about Jesus" fixes everything out of nowhere--Anna's decision to change the Christmas Pageant last minute was abrupt and surfacey rather than impactful. It's all just a disaster of a thought experiment that places more emphasis on people talking about vague notions of Christianity instead of exploring the actual substance of it--like it didn't talk about Jesus in a definitive way--just "He's the reason for the season!" So this movie was blatant and vague at the same time. The story is disjointed and not relatable. Anna didn't have so much of a change of heart as just responding to her parents behavior when they "turned atheist" by wanting them to be Christian "not jerks" again and felt guilty just because of their behavior. Sorry for ranting lol And y'know, the whole Christmas ball thing would've been fine since some Churches do services on Christmas day, so the parents just could've made a compromise with her in the beginning of the film. Problem solved.

It’s true. That does exist in outlook. But it isn’t a separate plug in. You can ask my ex employer about that. 😂

You know, when the girl called out the street Santa for stealing, I was kinda like, yeah okay that's pretty scummy. But then his response, it made me stop and think. Cause, yeah, a lot of Santas _are_ homeless people who are given seasonal work. And while obviously it's not a _good_ thing to steal, much less steal from charity... I can kinda see where the guy is coming from, and how I could even feel like it was okay. I mean, if you're homeless, you've got this temp job that you'll be doing for a month at most, it probably doesn't pay well (if it did they wouldn't need to hire the very impoverished) and, it's not like you're stealing the entire thing, just a few bucks. When the previous night some rich guy dropped a Ben Franklin in there? Yeah. I can see someone making the decision to take a bit for themselves. Especially if the charity is for a different cause. I mean, let's say it's some food fund for people in Africa somewhere. They need the food, but you need to eat too and how horrible must it feel to be doing work, probably badly paid, for a charity fund that won't even benefit you? People being willing to give money to those far away in a different nation, on a different continent, but not even thinking to offer aid to you standing right in front of them? It's not the case in this film, I'm expanding on the idea of "homeless person stealing from a charity bucket" as a moral question. But again, I could really see how someone would feel justified in that act. I can't say I definitely wouldn't do the same thing in that situation. Well, that's me putting way more thought into that small interaction than anyone involved in this movie did! :D

Just because I am obsessive about such things, here are the actors with their dates of birth. I assume filming was in early to middle of 2016, but don't know for sure. Release was in November 2016, but I imagine these no-budget family flicks have a quick turnaround. Anna: Anna Fricks, 09/11/1995 (20 years old) Anna's Dad: Joey Lawrence, 04/20/1976 (40) Anna's Mom: Leigh-Allyn Baker, 03/13/1972 (44) Boyfriend: Ryan Boudreau: 05/12/1990 (26) Boyfriend's Dad: Sean T. Smith, dob not found So, it turns out that while Anna is too old for high school, her parents are not too young to be her parents. If we accept that Anna is three years younger than her actor, and the dad a couple years older than his actor, both parents could have graduated law school before she was born.

This movie shows you just how delusional so many Christians are. The parents would obviously not be noticibly different when it comes to the rules that would be enforced. I know this may be hard for a Christian to understand but regular people want there kids to grow up loving , helpful and ethical too. Shocking I know.

I handled all the nonsense before it, but Anna asking what a light year is made me lose it. What's a light year?!

Ugh, I hate how the parents are portrayed after they stop being Christians, so hammy and stupid. The writer really seems like one of those types of people who don't think non believers can be moral. Did morality simply not exists before Christianity or something?

Man, I'm grateful I went to school. I had no idea that not all atheists r jerks just b/c I am a Christian. Heck, an atheist classmate asked me could he interview me for his religious studies class, and we had two Muslims in said class. I even got to ask him why he's an atheist; his decision absolutely had nothing to do with being pissed off with God and using Atheism as a middle finger to Him.

@@jacindaellison3363 That's cool. Yeah, I'm not sure why these types of movies always seem to think people are only Atheists because they hate God. I'm an Atheist for a pretty simple reason. I'm the type of person who believes in what they can see, what they can touch, what is tangible. Religion simply doesn't offer any proof like that, what I can believe in, what can be seen or felt, it's that simple. I don't hate God, religion, or anyone really, it just personally has never made any sense to me.

Public schooler here. Yeah no one would show up to a dance Christmas Eve night. Everyone’s either with family, at church, or just is not gonna go up to school in the middle of winter break for a dance. Would not happen.

This is how I felt about going to school dances in general. It felt weird to spend my free time at school. It would be like getting released from prison and choosing to hang out there in your free time. Maybe people had better opinions of their schools, but I just felt like there were more productive uses of my time.

Wow, this movie was filmed in atheist Massachusetts instead of Christian Arkansas. Ugh, the Pastor Uncle is Jeff Schroeder from Daily Blast Live and Big Brother and The Amazing Race. The actress who plays the secretary wrote this. I wonder if the parents are going to be able to get out of their contract with the bank.
