Saying Goodbye To Pee Wee Herman / Paul Reubens - Hollywood Blvd Tribute & House From Big Adventure

My cousin got terminal cancer when she was 5. She used Make a Wish Foundation to meet Paul. He wasn't her first choice, that was Alf. But the Alf team denied my cousin. And so she chose Paul. He was so nice! Brought her and my Aunt and Uncle to the set of Pee Wee's playhouse. When she died, Paul sent a beautiful array of flowers and a heartfelt note. Miss Yvonne from the show came to the funeral. After she died, the Alf team made an episode of Alf visiting a sick girl in the hospital...pathetic. I've never watched Alf again. Paul Reubens has always had a wonderful place in our families' hearts. Thank you Paul! And thank you Adam for honoring this wonderful man!

It was puppeted by 2 people and voiced by another. Logistically maybe they couldn't do it when you wanted. Grow up. It’s always a little weird when I cry when someone I didn’t even know dies, but this was a tough one for me too man. Paul Reubens was a fantastic artist but also a huge influence on me as an educator. On his show, he promoted humor, playfulness and discovery in ways that never seemed pandering or artificial to children. He exemplified a strong, daring sense of individuality, and encouraged the boundless possibilities of imagination like i’d never seen. He was a true innovator that probably wasn’t recognized enough in his lifetime. I just wish I could have said thanks.

The YT vlog of Hollywood Graveyard details the life & passing of celebrities/notables, & the number of people whose life was way too brief is quite common. Paul Reubens at age 70, while still way too short, is comparatively lengthy compared with when lots of other people over the past 100-plus yrs in the entertainment industry passed away. The most recent Hollywood Graveyard vid is astounding to me. I hope Adam doesn't mind it being recommended to people. It shows how the memory of the departed (such as one of movie's major Santas) yrs after the fact becomes nostalgic, melancholy & a triumph all at the same time. Now Pee Wee becomes a part of that. Thank you for your sweet tribute to Paul Reubens/Pee Wee Herman. My son was born in 1978 so we watched a lot of Pee Wee's movies and his show with our son. His laugh will always be in my head-none like it. I often wondered if Pee Wee and Ernest (Jim Varney), were friends. They had a lot of similarities. In a way they were grown men who never grew up. Know-what-I-mean? I loved them both and are sad they are gone. The scary thing about Paul is that he was my age. I have seen way too many friends pass away. Adam, there are just certain movies and characters that are Iconic and Timeless. Pee-Wee Herman, as personified by Paul Reubens , is one of the greatest comedy characters of all time. Thank you, Adam, for your kind words and wonderful tribute to an amazing character, and the actor who portrayed him. The 80’s truly was the decade that created some of our most beloved and memorable films. Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure is one of the best films from that era, along with Back to the Future, as you mentioned in your tribute. I started crying immediately when I found out about Pee Wee's passing yesterday morning. So very sad. I grew up watching his movies and show and have a few trinkets and toys from that era of my life. Adam, You did a great thing making a tribute video in honor of Paul…He will always be remembered as Pee-Wee who was also part of my childhood as well. So sad to see his humor and talent silenced. I just watched Matilda last night. He was one of the "boat salesmen" . So many small roles, and my kids loved Pee Wees Playhouse.. what a gem of fun and imagination.. RIP
