over 20,000 pods went in the tank.. safe to say I should have a nice population... Check out Algae Barn for info if you want some for yourself... More updates to come on stocklist and other changes... Thanks for watching everyone!

CJ'S AQUARIUMS hey cj I have a question for you you had a 45 gallon jbj right and I noticed that you had a lot of fish in your tank how did you keep your nitrates down I have six fish which are wrasse and two Mandarin Dragon nuts and I'm getting nitrates of 25 ppm 30 PPM and I do weekly 10-gallon water changes and I feed my fish every other day so any tips how to get my nitrate down
@CJSAQUARIUMS7 жыл бұрын
reef junkies I was doing 40% water changes weekly when my nitrates where high... eventually my sechems pond matrix media and tank matured to handle the nutrients ... dunno how old your tank is but I would worry too much... nitrates aren't as bad as people make it ... it will all balance out in time
@reefjunkies61977 жыл бұрын
CJ'S AQUARIUMS hey bro thank you for the advice I just put in Marine pure media and it's only been there for 3 months I believe so I guess my media needs to mature more so my tank cut handle the bioload

Protein skimmer will help a lot and change out the floss every 3 days - 1 week. Both will help dramatically. In conjunction check you flow. Look for the resting spots for food and adjust flow accordingly.
@tkotanko7 жыл бұрын
Bulk Reef Supply did a study on floss changing... every other day had the biggest effect on Nitrates. Of course 3 days to a week is acceptable but there's some food for thought :)

another great informative video CJ. If I was to be new in the hobby, by watching your JBJ series and now this 120g series... I would definitely be following all your tips and advice on how to start a Saltwater/Reef tank and be successful in the hobby. I bet many of the new hobbyists has done exactly that. You have given many new comers and even experienced Reefers different insights about what to get and how to provide new ideas for us to acknowledge. We all learn from each other everyday. This hobby isn't as hard as people fear/make it to be. The true keywords of "dedication" in this hobby are consistency, patience and awareness. Keep being an Inspiration CJ. High 5! Mel

I actually just came in second place for one of their giveaways that they had. I received a ton of pods and photo plankton like you did. Was very happy with their products!! Also my corals absolutely loved the photo plankton when i poured it in. My LPS swelled up and Acros increased their polyp extension even.

Instantly one of my favorite videos CJ. Such good coverage of a process that is adding so much life cycle to your reef. Really enjoyed watching and seeing this get added as a notable event not just something you do to keep certain species alive. Can you give us an update down the track in the dark/macro video if you can see pods etc populating your sump, etc?

PsyWAR Reefing not sure on ratios honestly... If I can see them on the glass at night then I'm happy with the amount I have in my system.. amphipods are always good to add ... I'd like to introduce them as well later down the road

you need to add isopods...not copepods...all your pods will will be dead in the month because you have good wayer quality...and adding right after the cycle is bad too...if you have any unsuspecting spike in anything they will die...i learned from experience
@CJSAQUARIUMS7 жыл бұрын
interesting point of view... Cant say I totally disagree... in a perfect situation id like to add them before predators.. I cycled this tank almost 2 months.. spikes are unavoidable but can be manged with patience.. and building a strong bacteria base... isopods? Ive seen mixed stories on those becoming a pest or benefiting.. id prefer to stick with cope-pods & aimpipods in my system.. as far as my water being too clean? keep in mind my tank is already overstocked by general standards.. 14 fish and planning to add more.. and i feed heavy everyday.. on top of having phytoplanktin.. I don't expect to have those issues in this system.. But the great thing is ill be documenting every step of the way.. enjoy the ride.. thanks for watching..

CJ'S AQUARIUMS in my nano my isopods keep my rear sump clean and my clowns eat the ones brave enough to venture out...you make valid points and keep posting good vids😊
