Academy 1/48 S-27 Flanker B (Part 4 & Last)

In this part I finally put this kit together. Struggling with brittle decals that don't conform to seam lines on the canopy.

Having had this kit in the stash for a while now I was looking for some build reviews and so I have watched all four parts. You've done bloody well on this build mate. Good narration and great to be forewarned about some traps to avoid with it. Also, great job on saving those decals. Well done mate!

Great video series! I've had the same experience with Academy decals, with them being hard to work with and not responsive to Micro Set/Sol. I have a newer kit in my stash, one of their ROKAF F-4 Phantoms, and the decals are printed on a different kind of paper and I hope behave better. Many of their newer kits come with Cartograf decals which are very good quality. Anyway, great work overcoming the decals, nice build! I'd like to do an Su-27 at some point.

Thanks Jonathan. I think in this particular instance I got a really old kit. I have made a few newer Academy kits as well but you never know what quality you get . In my experience, Academy kits can range from fairly good to really poor. Anyway, thanks a ton for the kind comment. Cheers :)

I have this same kit ready to build but I think I will do it inflight and fabricate a stand I think I will either look for a aftermarket decals of leave the large shark decals off

Hi Glenn...I would strongly recommend aftermarket decals for this kit. The decals in the kit I had, were old and brittle and made life very hard. Good luck with the build :)
