My grandma was smart enough to counter a scammer trying to get her money via phone call. So her answering machine just loops her trying to properly hear them out and pretending to be partially deaf and would just end up wasting their time on hold.

My favourite scammer interaction was an 1 hour long call, it went in circles and I got 4 "managers" all because my only source of internet was the LG smart fridge, but it wouldn't allow me to access google coz it was in love with the LG smart toaster, but it loved the LG smart microwave, which loved the LG smart fridge, and none of them would help me coz of their love triangle. The final "manager" figured it out and told me to f off. Lol second to that was a text one back and forth where they were trying so hard to make me fall in love with them, they had photos of Lucy Pinder (model), and I told them sorry I'm into guys actually, midway thru the conversation they started sending me photos of a random male model playing off that they were the guy, my response was "damn you had the fastest sex change ever" lol

I'm somewhat maybe fluent-ish in Japanese. (I can somewhat hold a very basic conversation and read stuff to a certain extent). Naturally, the moment a scam comes my way, I put on my best Japanese accent and/or most overly formal Japanese speech and start replying. Normally, a just "Hello, who is this?" written or spoken in an extremely formal/borderline archaic way does the job extremely well... The trick is to just pretend that I only speak either Japanese or at best very, very broken English...

Few things give me more pleasure than when someone makes scammers shiver in their seats, turn their own scamming scripts against them, or generally just wasting their time. The only thing that would top it is if the authorities in the areas these scammers operate out of wouldn't be as corrupt as to allow these scams to continue virtually unchallenged and actually make an effort to shut them down. Shame that it has to come down to private scambaiters having to do the dirty work just to have an ounce of a chance to have these scam call centers shut down. At least we get to have a chuckle on behalf of these scammers' fragile egos until things starts to actually change. Also disgusting that they use stock photos or stolen Instagram pictures of good-looking women when they themselves are likely some scrawny of chubby guy who wish they could have relationship with one. Probably thinks the "payday" they get from their successful scams could buy one too, which is one of many incentives for them to keep doing this. Never believe that they do it because they're in a "tough spot" and need to pay for their "families" or whatever BS they try to cook up - they're in it solely for themselves, like any other career criminal.

One of my favorites was a call saying I was entitled to free renovations to my house because of some lawsuit settlement. Sitting next to my mom on the couch, I put on a thick Russian accent and kept asking increasingly frustrating and insane questions and he kept sounding more and more annoyed. It ended with me demanding that he have big monster truck wheels fitted to my house so I could drive it to work, because my car was broken down and being able to drive over and crush all the other cars in traffic would make my commute faster. Upon realizing I'd been messing with him for the last 10 minutes, he finally lost his temper and started cursing me out, my mom and I both burst out laughing and I hung up. We laughed ourselves to tears until we couldn't breathe, and then laughed some more, and we still laugh about it from time to time to this day.

When my old discord main got hacked, my friends knew what was up and then proceeded to troll the hacked account. I also pinned a tweet containing my old discord handle to my Twitter account for people to message.
