At first I was afraid the truck would turn out a gaudy chrome clad mess. After hearing you guys brainstorm the route to take in this video I have a lot more faith in it. I personally like to see the moving parts (like the airbags, maybe put a door in there :) ) but that's a personal preference. A fact however is that the cover plate is going to make it a lot harder to service, having to remove the fifth wheel every time you need to access something.

This European, at least, think most of the planned customisations sound good. 😊 The hubcaps will look nice, but personally I would have put a rounded bevel on the edge around the front plate, and not a sharp edge, to more go with the more rounded look of the truck. The V8 logo would also look good being a tad bigger. I think the deck plate should be painted blue, to contrast with the black lines of the frame and match the blue on the sides. Especially if the covers talked about in 10:46 are also painted blue. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is to put a center panel with the American style round tail lights on there. They would clash awfully with the rest of the aesthetic of the truck. Especially when keeping the original square tail lights as well. Instead, make the stainless steel back cover and center panel as suggested, but just have it a blank plate without the lights, or with a big V8 logo lasercut into it. I think that would look awesome. 🤘

I believe we should accept that this isn’t really a European model, but rather a U.S. version. After all, the potential customers aren’t Europeans-they’re American companies-and it makes far more sense for Scania to meet their expectations rather than force a European design onto them. If you consider other sectors, such as the automotive industry, you’ll find that certain cars simply look different, and that’s perfectly normal.
@sterlingodeaghaidh5086Сағат бұрын
A great example is as you said the Auto industry, when Ford entered europe they didn't bring American designs constantly, after they established their slot in the market they made European designs for the European market. I don't think some of the commenters realise that it's not the first Scania in the states, it's not the first new Scania in the states. I think this is exactly the reason why Scania has partnered with Bruce to get something different, a Scania that stands out on the US market for the US truckers, the intended audience is NOT European truckers. Have I personally been somewhat scared at what he might do? Yes a bit, but that is also a me problem, not a Bruce problem. I don't know what the US truckers want, so my opinion on the looks doesn't really matter.

@@Z4N7 Thats a pathetic reaction mate. Just because people hold a different opinion doesn't make them 'children'. Its like 10 years. By 'Americanising' it I think it will take attention away from the integrated engineering for example. Because people can't see it. It's on the whole other side of the planet, obviously culture and standards are gonna be different. Keep modifying it and make it appeal to the American market Bruce, after all, the possible future American customers can decide on their own if they want to keep it stock or modify it to their liking. You're just showing the market what is possible, rock on! This series has been amazing so far 🙂

Although here in France, at least, you see quite a few privately owned trucks being kitted out and some amazing paint jobs. Not that many but it does exist.

Hope scania looks for the truck back, i wouldn't let wilson alone with a lego set..
@dzzopeСағат бұрын
@DavidCorbett-ht4wf So stop watching, do you not think he has run all this past Scania? Or that even if getting the truck back is too much trouble (which it is) they couldn't just revoke his status with the company and make it illegal for him to drive? He didn't buy the truck, he is an agent for Scania and if you don't like modded trucks, why are you here? Keep it stock? Why? so you can look like you work for some soulless corporation where they may as well be a white goods. Any of the pretty/special trucks you see are modded.
@TormodNicholasMortonTorgersenСағат бұрын
@@dzzope you can mod the truck, just not trash it with this cheap looking stuff. Take a look at how these trucks are modded by someone that actually have a slightest taste. There are plenty of them in Europe
@dzzopeСағат бұрын
@TormodNicholasMortonTorgersen If you say you like every truck / mod in EU, your either a liar or haven't seen enough. Different people, different market, whole different culture means different tastes, just cos they aren't YOUR taste. As someone wiser than me would say, don't yuck someone's yum.

@ if you fancy the 70s look, why get a modern truck that have nothing that mach the old-school style. It just øook dated and tacky, Scania by Temu

Have you tried customizing a good Scania Mod in ETS2? Might help you with some ideas, there are mod packs available as well with water melon lights etc. But yes, paint the deck plate

This comment section is crazy. Last time I checked it’s Bruce’s truck he can do what he wants and if he is trying to make this truck to appeal more to the US market then american styling is what he should do. Cause here in the USA we are loyal to our truck brands.
@tapio_m686138 минут бұрын
It's not Bruce's truck. It's a Scania demo truck that was supposed to show the Americans what EU trucks are like. Bruce doesn't own it, it's Scania's truck. And now he's gonna turn it into something a 5yo kid would draw up. And it's seriously fine how the Americans like their trucks. Now this is gonna look like something that's less Scania and more "well how can we botch all the neat things in this truck." This is akin to someone buying a Ferrari and slapping a Buick sticker on the hood.

You're doing a great job so far. I honestly thought you were going to go full american on this thing but you have obviously listened to everyone and have a good grasp of the perfect americanised, euro concept. A bit of chrome in moderation will be great, hub covers work nicely to give an american touch whilst keeping it stylish, painted deck plate is perfect. Theres one thing that needs addressing though... For the love of god, please buy some metric tape measures for this project. It will save a shit ton of material and time.

I personaly would make some see trough parts as example : to the factory paint mached hubs, the airthings that lift up the back axle and some other stuff that you wanna be showing on that truck. I think that would be a nice mix of optics and practicabilety for the goal. and i would keep the deck plate black.

You should add a turkish wolf whistle. It’s fun to whistle on people and it’s a pretty common addon to mount in europe 😃

I respect your enthusiasm but do feel the Scania should be kept almost as it left the factory .. a simple deck plate should be fitted allowing the chassis components still to be seen and allowing easier access should any maintenance or repair work be required whilst still providing a safe place to stand when coupling/uncoupling etc .. Extra chassis rear lights are unnecessary and again inhibit access to components .. I feel the hub covers may act like a bell and could increase radiated noise (trucks in Europe are subject to strict drive by noise regulations and much development goes into achieving this) .. I think you should leave the truck as near to stock as possible and on a minor note should try to use all metric fittings on any additional attachments. Given the risk of increased animal strikes in parts of your country I would endorse (as in Australia) front protection bars and perhaps additional lighting .. Really enjoying following this adventure .... Regards from England.

I thought the whole point was to showcase the Scania truck in its brand new from the factory look so everyone could see how they're built, not customise and cover everything so no one knows the difference between them and what they already know. All the customising should come in the future if the trucks are allowed to be imported.

When you look at videos of European truck shows, you can see way more bolder customization than that's planned for this truck. So if it's (still) looking good - that's ok.

I think the deckplate would look cool in Blue. As for the lights, maybe use lights that are square or oval instead of round, because only the wheels are round on that truck and i think they would look better then roound lights..

Since you are putting hub caps on, i wonder if a self-leveling hub cap like RR have but with the griffin or the V8 would be cool.

Just as i was about to start furiously typing about the hubcab and bolts... Glad i'm not the only one who saw that those rivets or bolts would've ruined the look. Good idea about the painted plate at the back of the cut out.

I am no big fan of the hub-covers since the original scania hubs are very unique among all EU manufacturers and look good in my opinion. Other than that, although being european, i am not disappointed by the modifications, as long as you keep them pretty discreet. ;-) The Iowa Customs crew seem to be good craftsman who make quality parts. If potential american customers like it, the goal is achieved. "Whatever floats your boat."

for god's sake!!! BRUCE Take a look at the Mighty Griffin Tuning Pack from ETS2 Pictures, videos or buy the game and experiment with what currently looks "GOOD" I personally prefer "diamond plates" made of stainless steel... even painted, but a "workplace" should be safe and not turn into a "slippery place" when it's wet, slippery or dirty and it prevents this "hollow rattling" because the plate is more stable and can therefore be thinner to save weight. We get these "hubcaps" with a brand logo as "mass-produced goods" and in sets they even match the design
@everestyeti3 сағат бұрын
Re the deck plate, definitely blue, like the hub covers. The company though dealing with the European market, will find it easier to measure and cut using centimetres and millimetres. Glad the truck isn't going to be covered in chrome, yes its for the American market, but you need it to stand out. I do my best reading in the toilet as well. 😂🤣👍

About the editing, I understand you might want to get these videos out ASAP, but would be nice if you could normalice the audio between different clipps and the music. Also I'd prefer if the fade to black cut was a bit faster, like 4x the speed. Otherwise great work

Hey bruce, if you plan to paint the deckplate, maybe you can have the four silver bars on the front-grille painted as well (maybe in gloss black)? These bars are the only silver parts on the outside of the truck and look a bit strange. There is also a option from factory for a darker front-grille, I am sure you have seen some in sweden?!

Love the series, been looking at scania trucks from a far for a long time and I’ve been over the lack of innovation from Pete and kenworth etc. Eventually it would be sick to see a Scania farm truck in Ohio.
@AlexJeffDust-RenAzuma664 сағат бұрын
The rear hubcaps would've been a lot cooler if they followed the shape of the unique Scania hubs instead of a massive cylinder. They're very uniquely shaped out of any other EU brand too

If you're taking the truck to truck shows and other places to show to the american audience, then why cover up all the interesting things inside the frame with the deck plate? How about making a deck plate that can tilt open, so it's still possible to showcase all the things in the frame.
