Scattered Minds, Dr. Maté offers a completely new perspective on this disorder. #adhd #gabormate
"Scattered Minds" by Dr. Gabor Maté is a groundbreaking book that delves into the complex world of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Dr. Maté, drawing from his own experiences and extensive medical practice, provides a compassionate and comprehensive understanding of ADD. He challenges the conventional wisdom surrounding the disorder, arguing that it is not merely a genetic condition but is significantly influenced by environmental factors and early childhood experiences. The book offers a holistic approach to managing ADD, emphasizing the importance of addressing the underlying emotional and psychological aspects rather than relying solely on medication.
Dr. Maté's insightful analysis and personal anecdotes make "Scattered Minds" a compelling read for anyone seeking to understand the intricacies of ADD. He highlights the potential for individuals with ADD to harness their unique qualities and thrive in life. This book is not only a valuable resource for those directly affected by ADD but also for parents, educators, and healthcare professionals who wish to support them in a more empathetic and effective manner.

Was Diagnosed as a young girl (age 7) in 1976 with ADHD. In later adult life with ASD. All along the way was much depression and a stressful marriage. Now, age 54, I am happier yet unstable with chronic lichen planus. I then discovered Vedanta (after many years of atheism. Vedantists consider the body/mind as mattter. Meditation and reading the Upanishads have provided immense comfort. I must add I was in rehab for alcoholism and smoked like a maniac. Been sober since 9-20-10. Went through AA and enjoyed its benefits even as an atheist. I no longer attend. I must not discount the spiritual family I have found at the Vedanta Society. Swami Vivekananda did a great thing by coming to the World’s Parliament of Religion to spread Vedanta through the lens of Sri Ramakrishna’s teaching. Bless them 🙏
