Everything about Vertigo is Alfred Hitchcock at his masterful best. This motion picture could never be recreated and/or remade. Even today, when viewing, Kim Novak and James Stewart are mesmerizing...

Strange that the director and film composer best known for their work on the horror classic, Psycho, together created one of the most romantic movies ever.

When Herrmann was asked his favorite film score is said it was The Ghost And Mrs. Muir and I tend to agree with him. Although this surely is a work of genius as well.

that chord progression at 3:16 is totally Wagner's ring cycle ripped off, but then he sidesteps nicely. lovely piece! ~ :)

I concur, unfortunately not enough people know about him.

Aaaah yes a fave. This track is pretty much Tristan and Isolde but a great interpretation.

Me, too. Brilliant and affecting as the Vertigo score is, I prefer the score to The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.

This is amazing, it sounds a bit like Wagner but that's no criticism. Soundtracks these days sound shallow and self-indulgent compared to this.

@Herrmann90 this great but HELL NO Taxi Driver is without equal!

Absolutely Wagner. How many other clasical authors this nice jewish boy plagarized? As they ALWAYS DO?
