I love how Jamie just casually puts in that he was molested by The Maetser and Tyrion just ignores him. 😂

I found the scenes meaning near the end was how jamie realizes and almost goes into tears over the fact how empathetic his brother Tyrion is, adding to the fact that he couldn't of ever possibly killed Jamie's son, making the whole thing hard to deal with because knowing his brother truly does not deserve this sentence and knows 100% he is inicent

This story didn’t come to mind for no reason. He’s contemplating more than just what’s about to happen next but why people with power prey on the weak even when they have no tangible benefit for doing so, and furthermore why all his life everyone around him and worst of all his family felt a need to kick him while he was already far beneath them in almost every decreeable way, simply because he was a “dwarf”. The answer is simple, because people like to feel powerful, and preying on the weak is their insecure way of affirming that belief, but that’s not why Tirion is asking why. Being the logical compassionate man he is, he just wants a logical answer for senseless slaughter, when the answer itself is senseless. They do it because it makes them feel powerful, but why?

Orson smashed for the same reason the mountain smashes: cruelty makes people feel powerful and in control

People made fun of Orson. He wasn't in control (power) but beetles, absolutely

It's also definitely a metaphor for the the series itself. The show is just constantly about people dying and being killed or tortured, mostly for just simple bad choices, which is exactly what is about to happen to Oberyn. It's fiction, but millions of people around the world care very deeply about these characters and whether they live or die, but ultimately none of us know what this is leading to, if there's any point at all to Ned's death, or Rob's, or Oberyn's, or anyone. Why did Orson smash the beetles? Why does Martin?

Its directed at Orson Scott Card who criticised the show. Pretty petty

Orsen smashes the beetles because it was his only form of power. Just like how Tyrion at first joined and laughed at Orsen to feel normal. Orsen crushes the beetles to feel normal. It’s obviously also a metaphor and what not but if you’re asking why an individual based on the information I’m given that’s my closest answer.

A good study but you missed the sweetest part. GoT had a critic in the beginning Orson Scott card. He also directed Enders Game a movie about bugs vs humans in a war started for unclear yet simple stupid reason just as cousin orson did. This seen is a did to their most outspoken critic. But it also shows how Tyrion just doesn't understand senseless killing, he thinks he should bc he is smarter then them all but like everyone that mocked him all the time he cant relate to them or it. And the killing bothers him more than anyone else yet here he is on trial for killing. But he isn't like them so he puts the bug down.

At the end of the conversation when Tyrion asks Jaimie "Why did he do it?" First time I saw this scene I thought he was reffering to Tywin And that the senseless murder of Orson´s beetles was a metaphor for his father´s multiple murder of men. And Tyrions own future death at the hands of Tywin. All in the name of the House of Lannister. Which to Tywin is the only thing that matters. He is willing to kill anyone if he thinks that will help the Lannister name last, even his own dwarf son.

We see how vulnerable he was at the end of the scene when he asks Jaime, his brother who’s always protected him, what it was all about

The Orson story is not just about men dying in a pointless war that ultimately does not matter, it's about the cruelty of the gods. If the gods don't stop the beheading of a good man like Ned, the murder and rape of the Mountain in the Riverlands, and the violation of guest right at the Red Wedding then the options are either they don't exist or they actually enjoy these things happening like Orson enjoying smashing the beetles.

Well, right now- my channel is more of a 'back-woods' KZbin kind of channel. Still pretty small really. The videos that do well is just seemingly random or luck. Idk. I feel I could have done much better with this video-essay overall, but it is what it is. My work improves as time goes on. My older videos are never as good as the newer are typically.

I interpreted the scene to be a critique of the senseless killing that is happening in the world of GOT and you can also generalize it to include the real world that even Orson, a simple human of no no intelligence can still have the cruelty to commit heinous acts against living creatures simply because he can

One thing that I don't scientifically understand about GoT is how exactly one knows for certain whether or not Tyrion is truly the son of The Mighty Tywin, or how one knows that Jon Snow is the son of Ned Stark. As everybody knows, rape happens, infidelity happens, all kinds of deception happens, so how do we know? EDIT: I've only watched to the end of Season 5, so please don't post a spoiler in response, thanks!
