YOUR eye for detail is flawless Garry, I wish that I was in the same financial footing as another terrific railway modeller, rock star Rod Stewart so that I could fly you and some of my other favourite British modellers to Florida to build the proposed 'British' half of my layout so that I could legitimately run the British OO-gauge sets that I have. Beautiful inspiring work you and your colleagues engage in Garry, BRAVO!

Well Gary as someone who had to travel by motorbike from SE London to Harlesden for work each week I can tell you your new corner is spot on. It reminds me of my route of coming of the West Way past the Scrubs short cut through an estate at Fitzneal St that bought me up to what looks exactly like your corner at Old Oak Common Lane. So very well done all the best Peter

Hi Garry, just wanted to drop a quick message to say I love your content. I'm not sure how it's taken this long for me to come across your channel, I follow the likes of Everard, both the Daves, and the other Richard, as well as Chadwick, I guess KZbin's algorithms are still as lop sided as ever. I was ill for a few days last week, and since finding you I decided to play all your videos whilst I laid in bed. What I really enjoy is how easy to watch you are, you seem very approachable, very grounded, and a natural at passing on both your knowledge and passion for your hobby (and yes I'm a big believer in the railway should be a hobby first, then content, I've said it to Everard Richard, and Scot Dave, ignore those demanding or complaining, I don't care about the gaps between videos when the content is usually so good, the main thing is to enjoy first, then worry about those watching). I don't have a layout, yet, I mostly setup a bit of track on the floor every now and then, but I am hoping to sort out a 6'4" x 2-3 ft shutting yard in my home office soon, there's just enough room behind my chair, I'm thinking, to put in 2 mainline tracks with a curve at one end, to kinda of future proof it, so if I do ever have more space, I can extend what I already have. Anyway, I've gonna a little off track, I think it's great how you focus on budget and the new younger hobbyists, some of your tips, tricks and techniques were great to see and learn of, some of which are very ingenues. Finally, massive respect to your back scenes, never mind those "photo realistic" back scenes, I think yours are way better, especially the newer or refined parts you've done. I love them. Like you said, the back scene is meant to be suggestive and unobtrusive, and in real life when you're looking out into the distance, particularly on a typical British day, it is often a bit hazy, and you can't always clearly make out what's out in the distance. One of my top 5 of your videos I think has to be the painting tutorial/time lapse video you did, it was perfectly explained how you built up the scene, and you showed how easy it can be done with a few shapes, a few layers and a bit of time invested. Even the most novice artist/painter could follow your principles and create something that would look decent. You can definitely tell you've improved your artistry skill set, in the early attempts the "hills" and foreground were definitely the weakest part, I think coz you were over doing them in a uniformed fashion, but I think you can be very proud of you back scenes today, no word of a lie, they are my favourite back scene I've seen. Take care and I look forward to seeing future videos, whenever or however infrequent that may be.

Hello Mark Not sure anyone has ever made such a message to me with so many compliments - this was very appreciated - so thanks buddy This is an amazing hobby and i do feel passionate to promote it to be enjoyable without all the cost which can be very over looked due the vast items now available to us modellers. I do get many comments where people share their memories from something i make or do which is very magical but yet very precious as the layout is based all around my memories from family and friends now watching over me. My inspiration comes from those memories shared and great people. And to mention an amazing man that has inspired the world is a man called Bob Ross - he painted landscapes in seconds with the inclination that if he showed one person to paint - that person will teach 10 more and so on. Which as i believe is a great analogy to life. Your future layout sounds great 👍 So follow your dreams and relive the passion. Take care & keep safe Garry

Another great update. To help with the illusion with the hidden road you might want to add posts to show it has lighting as all roads around the area would have them. Rather than having the light with a bracket coming out the back of the lantern put the light on top of the post as it’ll reduce space needed to get it in. Lighting in your era were using ‘post mounted’ systems so won’t look out of place. Or paint the columns on the backboards.

Hi David many thanks - the buses where from my late fathers collection - so great to have them on show on the layout. If you search eBay for EFE london buses - you will see theres a few on their fairly cheap 👍 Hope this helps Cheer Garry

Thank you for a bucketload of inspiration. Quick question, do you have any details on the small table saw you used for the bridge construction? Thanks.

Its made by Proxxon www.hobbies.co.uk/proxxon-ks230-modellers-circular-saw?Shopping-Research_Campaign&adid=388174523725&addisttype=gpla&matchtype=&gclid=CjwKCAjwxuuCBhATEiwAIIIz0bhPgd9uEc5FVnbH3wxAZATZl7LTiybtjF4DXk8iPBJdB8aq1e2AURoCcD4QAvD_BwE Here is a link that Hobby stores sell £120 - i payed £70 for mine as it was a demo model at the Warley model railway show so keep your eyes open at model shows / engineering etc as they discount near end of day. 👍 Hope this helps - Garry
