I’ve read somewhere that Bucky’s choreographers deliberately had him do the dexterous knife stuff with his flesh and blood hand, and leaned more into heavy power strikes with the metal arm (which likely wouldn’t have had the same level of precision). I always appreciate attention to detail like that
@sirkelendor54292 жыл бұрын
Bucky is canonically right handed, maybe that could be why
@garmaruz3 жыл бұрын
I think the reason Cap jams his shield into the tricep of Buckys metal arm is because he realizes it’s mechanical and is trying to break it. The plates on Buckys arm catches the shield , Cap then senses he can’t break it so he pulls back and throws a strike.
@martystrasinger3801 Жыл бұрын
It seemed as busting up the metal arm caused Bucky some actual pain, which is why he didn’t flank to his left and attack with the knife- he was actually stunned for a half-second.
@ODINSON144 ай бұрын
@@martystrasinger3801yeah. Your statement is also proved by civil war, when tony blasts it off. It clearly causes him immense pain. I'd imagine it's connected to his nerves. And also it's sort of realistic if that's the case, because when I ripped my knee open and tried to pick the scab(the cut was so deep the blood looked black), I hit a nerve and my body froze
@ashutoshranjan4972 ай бұрын
@@martystrasinger3801 Also right before jamming the shield thing. Cap struck winter soldier's leg and if Bucky wanted to step forward he would have to step on the injured leg which might cause disbalance in step placement. Which could result in bucky's arm going bye bye.
@Scarran3 жыл бұрын
It looks to me like Winter Soldier tossed his knife to confuse Steve. I noticed Steve's eyes following the knife, and he was still keeping up with his strikes and counters. Soldier tosses the knife up..breaking the rhythm and making Steve unsure of what the hell is going on..as you notice he IMMEDIATELY stops attacking for a few beats. Buck knows how skilled his opponent is so any doubt he can toss into the fight works to his advantage.

@@storytellingsnek5255 it might've had some percentage of vibranium by the end but it definitely wasn't vibranium to start with because hydra would not have had access to that when they first gave him the arm. A few years back they did a breakdown of the shield the Spartans used in combat and ran a full power edge strike through a force gauge. It ended up being a ridiculous amount of force due to the small point of contact along the shield's edge. Now put that into the hands of a guy that can hold helicopters in place, casually lift Harleys with a trio of ladies on them, and punch with enough force to dent and stagger a ten foot robot. To give Logan Lo some more love, I highly suggest the 1v10 fight in The Final Master. It's definitely one of the little known movies inspired by Ip Man amongst the clones, but the MC here specializes in butterfly knives and goes through a gauntlet of weapon masters. What sets itself apart from other Chinese martial arts films is its relatively slow pace: the circling, the checking, the trapping, the strategy etc. It could very well be sluggish fighting, but I personally found it more realistic and artistic to have this slow, improv-like choreography with an array of Chinese weapons. I'm sure most people wouldn't know this movie, which is why I want to pitch this so strongly, because it looks like there's a lot of knife work to talk about.

cool vid! I personally thought the point of the standing armlock was that Winter Soldier's arm has articulated plate on the exterior, and cap manages to jam the edge of his shield between two segments of plate which gives him an unexpected 'grip' close to the shoulder rather than just a wedge under the arm. With some upward force applied through the shield while the wrist control is pulling downwards this gives decent control to prevent any rotation of the shoulders for a second while Buckey's still trying to catch up mentally and figure out how to strip the unorthodox grip. Cool example of cap's high fight IQ / improv and ability to get steps ahead of his opponent. At least this is how I justify a standing armlock that would never work in the real world to be okay here so I can enjoy the film haha.

Gooood! Frank's fights in DD and S2 of The Punisher were fucking gorgeous! There's this one episode where Frank has a 9mm and has to kill like 6 guys and they was getting ready to gang up on him and he simply slide as if he was skating and emptied the whole magazine on them and Jesus, WAS IT BEAUTIFUL stunt coordination.

The interesting dynamic between him using his knife hand as a primary weapon and his metal arm as a secondary, is because Bucky is right handed. He was given the metal arm on his left hand due to him losing his left arm in the accident. But since his right hand is more dominant, that's why he habitually uses his knife hand as the primary striking.

The knife flip was one of the coolest moves in the movie for sure but I’m glad most people realize it was just for show

It's so bad ass looking on screen for sure. We're not against flashy moves for fight scenes, we just want to let people know, don't try it in real life haha.

I’ve been bingeing these fight breakdowns. They’re awesome. If you’re open to requests, it might be cool to add a little James Bond to the channel. There are some good things to work with in the Casino Royale stairwell fight, and/or the Quantum of Solace knife fight.

Cap was trying to cut of the Winters Soldiers arm when he struck it with the shield. During this entire fight Steve has been about on par if not better then Bucky. However the one factor that kept swinging the fight back into Bucky's favor and prolonging the fight was the robotic arm. Just like how you would try to control and disarm a fighter that has a knife Steve tried to do the same with that arm. He held the arm out straight and tried to cut it off above the elbow. Taking Bucky's greatest weapon (his arm) out of the fight. However when he notice that the blow to cut the arm didn't work he switched it up and went for the head strike. See you all where looking at his arm as just that, a arm but Steve was seeing it for what it was a weapon and the one thing that kept edging the fight back into Bucky's favor. Remove the arm permanently swing the fight back into Steve's favor thus leading to the fight ending sooner.
