It’s got pretty places and architecture, for sure, but soothing will never be how someone describes this place. A urban metropolis which is constantly moving. At least it’s getting better in some regards. It’s also expensive, we’re talking 2-3 times more pricey than any other big cities, and on par with what you’d find in the Alps near ski stations. It’s bonkers!

Check out jazz fusion, Japanese jazz fusion in particular - the Japanese approach it with an eye towards catchiness and accessibility compared to American jazz fusion, which tends towards super dense prog rock stylings that are aimed more at music school nerds (note: I am included in this group). Look up Casiopea and T-Square. The latter wrote one of the most famous songs used in multiple Gran Turismo games, Moon Over the Castle. Also just check out the J-MUSIC Ensemble, they do video game music as interpreted by world class jazz musicians including multiple professors at New York City music schools.

Moonview Highyway deserves THAT spot, is just as perfect as a song can be. I was obsessed with the WII version as a child, once i discovered the internet i was fascinated I could listen to it without having to turn on the wii and stay tin that track in time trials, i could NOT stop listening to it. When Moonview Highway was announced to be in the DLC packages, i was happy solely cause I loved the song and wanted to hear it remastered. The fact that both idorations of the song are a 10/10, and the final solo drums was added, blew me away. PD: I run marathons, and I always put that song on whenever im 5 kilometers away from finishing, 30 minutes of glory before ending.

I personally put Big Blue above Mute City for one single, yet oh so big, reason: The "final section" version. That concussive blast of saxophone kicks me square in the groin every time I hear it, and it cranks my neurons into freaking overdrive for the rest of the race! And it's not just the saxophone that makes it so spectacular; the back-and-forth solo battle between it and that positively SHREDDING electric guitar, with even the drums and bass getting their time to shine, keeps the tension high and the adrenaline pumping. It is, in my mind, the greatest BGM in Mario Kart history.

When i heard you were making another Mario Kart Ranking i KNEW you would be ranking the songs. Surprisingly not many others have done it before, the stand out for me being Fred the Monty Mole who has musical knowledge and uses music technicalities but still keeps it very accesible for most people (Also you should totally check out his medleys, specially the Kirby Bosses and Mario Kart tracks ones; and also his Paper Mario boss themes ranking.
