Schluter®-KERDI-BOARD is the perfect solution for setting tile on walls. I had to do the wet shim technique for flat and plum walls. Everything was looking pretty good until the next day when I installed the screws. Now they are neither perfectly flat or perfectly level. Should I start over?

Just to clearify, one doesnt need cement board under kerdi board if theyre going to tile, correct? Had a plumber that state you still need to secure cement board and then apply kerdi board, then mount tile to kerdi board. Thanks for the advice

Hello there! KERDI-BOARD can be installed directly to the studs and then tiled. No need for anything else.

at 2:23 the video says the vertical edges of each panel must be positioned over a stud "or other solid backing". Is a 2x3 on its flat side sufficient to provide a nailing surface for the end of a panel, if the drywall/keriboard transition doesnt line up with a stud?

Hi there ! The edge of the KERDI-BOARD does need to be over a stud. Sorry for any confusion. A 2"x3" stud on the NON-flat side would work. Hope that helps!

@@schlutersystems1 thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I'll be adding some additional 2x3 studs to a 2x6 exterior wall and was hoping to reduce thermal bridging by using the flat side, but I will use the stud-side instead. thanks!

Hi Sarah! You will need to install KERDI-BAND over every washer and screw. You will have to use the KERDI-BAND as well to seal the seams between two boards and in the wall corners. What fasteners should be used installing the Kerdi board over a cement block wall with furring strips?

Hi there ! We don't, but you could buy screws that would work. The selected screws must be of sufficient length to reach a depth of at least 3/4" (20 mm) in wood studs. If the studs are not thick enough, the screws need to be able to penetrate the masonry to that depth. Make sure the screw material is the same as the washer, to avoid galvanic corrosion. Also, be sure there are no moisture concerns with the wood furring strips in between the masonry and the waterproof KERDI-BOARD. Hope that helps!

Its practically is almost zero given we have to patch every screw. 40% of the surface ended up to be tapes. That is very time consuming, and I might as well use the membrane.

Can't find any Kerdi board, seems to be a shortage in my area?

Hi there, there is a global shortage of raw materials that is affecting our Kerdi-Board production at the moment. We are working on getting this resolved asap, however there may be some shortages in your area as a result of this. We are hoping to have a much better supply by end of Q1, and in the meantime there is also KERDI WIDE -- also a waterproofing membrane that's easy to use and install. Can you use epoxy resin on the panels? Or do you need to use a mesh tape?

If reinforcement is needed in dry areas, the Schluter®-KERDI-BOARD ZSA would need to be used on the joints. Hope this helps!

@@schlutersystems1 was thinking more along the lines of complete wall panel coverage. In other words the Kerdi board would have an epoxy resin outer skin. Think Stone Coat counter tops. The ENTIRE wall face would be epoxy resin. No tiles. No seams. My bathroom idea is to make the walls look like they're melting. I'm wanting to know how smooth the kerdi board surface is. If rough. I can order a thinner blend of epoxy resin. If the surface is rough. I would need to order a thicker resin.
