12:00 Handful of heritage facts because this shot has a few cool things in it First: That bush behind the "End RFR" sign would be located near the end of the former Ballarat East Railway Station, the train would have just passed the old platform on the Melbourne tracks. Those bluestone sheds behind the train is actually the old Goods Shed with the platform inside, today used by Steamrail and where the only extant Y-Class Steam Locomotive is stored. (Y-112, built in Ballarat on July 24th 1889) Second: The rightmost line is the mainline between Ballarat and Melbourne, the middle line (The one the El Zorro train is switching onto) is the Geelong mainline and that last, leftmost set of tracks is the only remaining bit (And origin point) of the old Buninyong Branch Line that went right up to the Midland Highway in Buninyong until just after WW2 and still went through to a former siding where the Eureka Museum, Pool and Caravan Park is today. The old station platform at Buninyong is also still extant at the Buninyong tennis club along with various cuttings and culverts along the old route, although it's been mostly built over these days. Third: The Bombardier workshops (The big white/silvery shed with the train photo on the side) is where the old Ballarat East Yard used to be with the engine sheds being where that big greenish/yellow shed is now. There's still one of the old turntables there, it was once inside the big engine shed and I believe it still sees use for turning heritage locomotives for Steamrail in Ballarat when needed.

Hi Brendan, Is there no more Deni train or is it just stop running due to the drought. Can't it run down the Echuca line through Bendigo to Qube ?
@Schony7474 жыл бұрын
It very rarely runs these days because of the drought so as you say the train runs via Bendigo. It's uneconomical to fix a line with very little use according to the government
