Its nice to look big and muscular but its even better in my opinion to have full control of your body. Right now i can do about 8 good pull ups and arround 30 push ups. My goal is to start doing weighted calisthenics that way ill be stronger and more athletic. After just about 2 months of calisthenics i already feel stronger and more athletic then i was when i was doing 22kgs dumbell curls at the gym.

The gym's I have been working out in don't want people to do HITT, they like members to stand around doing weights & making the place look full. And spending time with classes and paying extra for personal training sessions. Beginner's need it, then you can do your own program of HITT in the gym. I attended a gym for 16 years, now I have kettle bells and a stepper machine in the garage with a weight bench, punch bag and an assortment of other stuff collected over the years. Everyone needs to understand that when they get older, they need to keep moving and have strong muscles. People in care homes get lazy and let the staff do more for them, then they no longer are able to move for themselves, ending up being hoisted to the toilet and rolled in bet to have their pad changed. So please everyone, keep strength training and keep moving.

I’m a runner and cyclist who for more than two years of experience side pains, lower back pains and lower abdominal pains. Your videos showed me how important stretching is and how stupid I was to this fact. Being over 50 years of age and running three times a week, cycling almost every day and thinking I’m just as fit as a 21 year old. I living in a fantasy world. After two months of implementing your exercises or better integrating them into my daily routine the pain has disappeared. I really appreciate the information that you have made available and would like to thank you.

Some people are just in denial about age, feeling younger because of diet, exercise doesn't mean we're, age is not just a number, it's a reality and you have to adapt to it.

I do something similar on the treadmill called a time ladder. I'm sure it would work for biking, as well. I lost 60 pounds in under a year just doing this two times per week. I modified the times as I got in better shape, but you get the gist. Warm up (5:00) 1:00 fast :30 slow 2:00 fast 1:00 slow 3:00 fast 1:30 slow 4:00 fast 2:00 slow 3:00 fast 1:30 slow 2:00 fast 1:00 slow 1:00 fast Cool down (5:00)

They are not doctors. They are physical therapists. Chiropractors can call themselves doctors, but physical therapists cannot... unless they have a doctorate in physical therapy( DPT). My husband retired after 48 years as a physical therapist. He tried hard to clarify this very important distinction to people who called him doctor. Also, he never wanted to be confused for a chiropractor!

32 and i just started doing interval sprinting again for the first time since highschool. im in pretty good shape from lifting and cycling, resting heart rate is in the 50s sometimes 40s but even still sprinting is a whole different thing. the intensity is insane. ive only been doing it once a week and ive only done it 3 times and already noticed drastic improvement in leaning out and the performance when i do the intervale sprinting.

Dear Bob and Brad. Thanks for highlighting this study on your channel. I am realizing cardio and weight loss results in using it everyday for two weeks. I’m not sure what variables on this study were found, but I usually add an additional HIT cycle or two. Using a spinning bike I also have to add more friction on the 20 second intervals. Thanks! Much appreciated. Steve

You guys are awesome thanks so much. I’m in my 60s now and from years of football, weight training and martial arts I’ve got some bad knees so walking or doing the treadmill is really hard. Doing this on a bicycle is excellent! I tried it once and I’m hooked. Keep up the great work guys, thank you so much.

Not sure why this is getting recommended so many years later, but one should be careful with the information being (mis)represented. While HIIT training does have benefits, the study has a few issues that limit how the results should be interpreted: 1. it only had 27 people, of which only 19 were outside the control group 2. it only looked at men 3. the men were all sedentary and "generally deemed inactive based on an International Physical Activity Questionnaire score of less than 600 MET-minutes per week" 4. it was on bikes, not running. You can't extrapolate those two exercises as being equal. 5. the "all-out" was based on Subjective feeling and not on an Objective measure, while the longer biking was based on an Objective measure (70% "max" heart rate) and not a Subjective one. Using two different measuring techniques can give disparate results. 6. given the participants were inactive prior to the study, their relative exertion will be lower than those who are regularly active (one example would be those in shape are more easily able to push themselves to their limit or hold a steady pace than a person who is not, and they are more likely to match their subjective feeling of exertion with an objective measure). 7. training high intensity vs endurance will cause differential development of muscles and cardiovascular health (e.g., sprinters' bodies adapt to the toll of sprinting, while endurance runners' bodies adapt to the toll of endurance running). 8. sprinting and endurance have differing tolls on the body regarding calories, sodium, magnesium, and the like Again, this is not to say that HIIT is not effective; I am merely stating that this video is taking the study a bit out of context and is overstating the actual results and efficacy.

Well done guys. SOme great foundational exercises - I do the bridges one leg alternate and crab walk, love the bed burpees (better for your back). My 12 minute lunch work out I made up coming back from THR is: 200 punches (swap stance after every 10x4 (=40) x 5 on the bag (100 seconds), 20 crunches (or bicycles crunches) - 20 sec, and 20 curls (free weights - 10 kilos) - 20 sec. I do five rounds of each, so that I end up 100 crunches, 100 curls and 1,000 punches. I find it a bit too easy but it's an enjoyable lunch time interlude from work. I'm almost 60. Can't wait to be able to skip again - how long should I wait before skipping with my Total Hip Replacement (been smack on 16 weeks now)??
