Perfectly habitable planet? Earth was utterly uninhabitable until microbial life forms shat out enough oxygen gases for it to become what we now think of as habitable. The Engineer shouldn't have been able to breathe the toxic mix of chemicals present on a lifeless earth. Alternatively, if they want to pretend that there WAS oxygen on earth at that time, then it would HAVE to be constantly renewed by life forms present there (atmospheric oxygen is too reactive to remain in the atmosphere for very long), which we don't see. There are no plants and no algae blooms visible anywhere, so this is DEFINITELY a planet without any atmospheric oxygen.

The Engineer that drank the “black goo” did so as a form of punishment by the other Engineers (hence why they remained present until he actually drank it). “Prometheus” is the name of the Titan God that, according to Greek mythology, gifted humanity with fire after stealing it from the Gods. This scene comes from the oldest creation story of all humanity. It has received alot of hate but personally I enjoyed Prometheus. The two scientists freaked out by the old corpse but not cautious with the cobra like snake thing was dumb. I did like the medical equipment Shaw used to remove the alien fetus was set for a male patient. An obvious clue that Weyland was aboard the ship. There is a theory that the alien engineer was infected by the xenomophs and was placed in suspended animation so his people could find him later and remove the egg before it hatched. The humans waking him up ruined that hope. No wonder he was angry.
