1:40 To them these were "scraps", probably very outdated/basic tech to them, but to humans they were no doubt godsends, tech the likes of which the humans never dreamed of or could have hoped for during their talks. The humans swore they would repay that great gift. 5:10 And so, as the humans had sworn all those years ago they repaid their friends with ships no doubt improved by those "scraps" and tech developed from those same "scraps" too

one thing that comes to mind is that the other species (narrator) mentions signing deals with humans to get rid of them if they did that they probably accepted raw deals which were way more favorable to the humans

Of all the human qualities, I'd list stubborness and loyalty as our best. We dont give up when we should, and if we make a friend, we will stick by them to the very end.
