That line would have been an epic twist! The build-up definitely had that intense vibe. Your analysis of the themes is spot on. If you enjoyed this, check out my insights on similar narratives-there's a lot to dissect! Always fun to explore the depths of storytelling together.

1:40 To them these were "scraps", probably very outdated/basic tech to them, but to humans they were no doubt godsends, tech the likes of which the humans never dreamed of or could have hoped for during their talks. The humans swore they would repay that great gift. 5:10 And so, as the humans had sworn all those years ago they repaid their friends with ships no doubt improved by those "scraps" and tech developed from those same "scraps" too

I'd believe by the point the humans were helping out they'd have reached the tech level of their contemporaries. 2 lifetimes? With free access to view and observe all the juicy advanced tech on most planets? The reverse engineers would be publishing a paradigm shift every three seconds.

It would be very human to have incited/guided this dispute in first place, so they could solve 3 issues with 1 stone: deal with the competition/enemy and return the favor to these not-so-friendly guys they once helped the "monkeys". Which would prompt a speedy incorporation to the galactic consul.

Trust earned the hard way. But working to better others without taking. By honest hard work. By standing by your friends no matter what. Of all the human qualities, I'd list stubborness and loyalty as our best. We dont give up when we should, and if we make a friend, we will stick by them to the very end.
