Its so surreal when Nostalgia Critic is at the point where he's reviewing a movie I definitely remember watching back in '09 on Cartoon Network when I was 12. This movie is now considered old and nostalgic and is almost a decade old. That's how you know you're old. EDIT: The "old" comment was not meant to be taken literally. It was just an exaggeration of how I'm no longer a kid. Also critic started in like the late 2000s. This movie is from the late 2000s, which means it was new when he started. Again, goes to show how time flies by. EDIT #2: DAMN. Been a while since I've garnered such a big amount of likes.

Ronnie_Alley Well, I truly feel for you, my wife also has depression and chronic pain in her back from an injury she got when she was 15, so I'm not going to belittle that, but yours is also a unique circumstance. This movie is just stupid, not to mention for a prequel, it completely contradicts the mindset of the gang in the other movies. Why? In the first movie, Velma and Fred are firmly in the mindset that monsters and ghosts don't exist... yet their very first mystery had REAL ghosts and they knew it from the beginning of said mystery? Yeah. Failure as a prequel and far worse a Scooby Doo movie than the first 2.

Couple of things. 1) I noticed he didn't point out they still do magical elements in the live action movies like he did for the first 2 films. 2) To be fair, in basically every version of this show, the culprit is always the person we forgot about at the beginning, he even mentioned it in his Sailor Moon review. 3) I actually don't mind the attempt to give the show an origin story, and I also enjoyed A Pup Named Scooby as a series though I wouldn't call it the best version. 4) I forgot for like 7 years Cartoon Network basically had nothing but live action shows during this era, and so many horrible memories of bad shows returned in that brief montage. And 5) At least this gang wasn't as unlikable as the original movies' gang, and for a tv movie their acting is pretty decent despite not looking exactly like the original characters.

NC, please review Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. It's an amazing incarnation of Scooby-Doo targeted at a more mature audience. It's one of the most mysterious and story-heavy cartoons out there, some episodes are even downright terrifying. There's an actual plot here, and it has a great cast of side characters like the gang's friends and family. Also, the Hex Girls appear in it, so it's automatically great. All characters have way more defined personalities, Velma had enough of everyone's shit after 40 years, and became the queen of savage, Fred however has been very dumbed down, his obliviousness is funny most of the time but can get repetitive. Sometimes it feels like they're trying to force the romance in this show, but that's pretty much my only complaint. The second season does get pretty dark though, for example refferencing an anime that had nazi robots massmurdering lots of people... by having nazi robots massmurder lots of people (A FAMILY PICTURE) All things considered, it's a good show and I think you should check it out. I hope you read this and I look forward to hearing your opinion!
