Woman Wreaking Havoc on I-95 After Leading FHP on Wild Chase

Miami - On March 29, 2024, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper initiated a pursuit after observing a silver BMW speeding northbound on the I-95 Express Lanes, endangering the lives of other motorists by weaving through lanes and ignoring commands to pull over. The chase continued into Broward County, with additional FHP units joining the pursuit to assist.

I agree. The vast majority who flee have a criminal record. A minimum 18 months for fleeing with no previous criminal record. All previously convicted receive a minimum 2 years for fleeing, 2-5 for fleeing with property damage; 5-10 for fleeing with property damage and personal injury.

California Highway Patrol does not do any pit maneuvers on the highway unless there are no other cars on the road. This was a bad decision on the cop who decided to do the pit maneuver and 2 innocent parties got involved which wasn't necessary. FHP should have new policies regarding this type of accidents.

Police used that type of reasoning in the past to justify all kinds of abusive actions. To accept it is to justify pretty much anything the police choose to do under the guise of some theoretical threat to public safety, which could be used against anyone under almost any circumstances . And if you give them an inch, they will abuse the power and go too far.

@@spaceshantynow1851 There were quite a few opportunities where one (or two) of the officers ahead could've used the bottleneck of traffic to block the shoulder of the express lane, slowing over time as the BMW caught up to them. Rear end either officer, add more charges. Then the pursuing officer would've simply parked behind her, making for an easy 3 car box. Even if a civilian vehicle was used for this box, it would've once again forced more charges if she dared ram either the officer or the civilian in the lane they're meant to be in, still achieving the desired result of stopping her.

The cops really screwed things up. There were about 3 or 4 cruisers over on the right of the dividers, who could have stopped traffic before they attempted the PIT maneuver. Instead they did it with all the traffic still around and caused those two innocent drivers to crash and damage their vehicles. Not too bright .

I can't believe the trooper did the pit during a high speed chase on I95 that caused so many accidents. I used to dispatch for Manatee County Florida Sheriffs office and that would never been aloud to happen. I know FHP has the authority, but just because you could, doesn't mean you should. FHP's jurisdiction is all of Florida so they can't use that excuse. I am really upset about this! What if that was a person with a gun and started shooting after the pit in full traffic? The description states the BMW was endangering other drivers when I only see the trooper actually endangering other people. What truly amazed me was the fact that this BMW actually had signal lights that worked. Very rare to see anyone driving a BMW and use their flashers... She should have gotten two years for each vehicle damaged in this ridiculous chase with absolutely no chance of parole !! BUT, FHP would likely claim sovereign immunity and argue that if they didn't PIT the BMW there, she could've caused a "worse crash" later on. Either way, most likely it will be the innocents' parties insurance covering the cost of the damages. You could sue the lady in the BMW, but you'd likely never see anything so why bother with the legal expenses. TLDR: it's a lose lose situation.

I lived in Hieleah (Miami) decades ago. I recall that one evening the news media reported that State Troopers found very little remains of a person who was reportably walking on the shoulder of I-295 a few hours ago. The Troopers also estimated that the person had been run over 150 times or more by many different vehicles traveling on I-295. The news caster then asked the audience, "If you drove I-295 between 9:25 pm and 10:00 pm, please check your vehicle for human remains and if you locate any remains on your vehicle, then please contact the Florida State Troopers vehicle investigation unit for more infomation and you will not be held responsible for that persons death.

TBH if those people were paying attention instead of blithely driving along a a dozen screaming police cruisers are coming up on them, and pulled to the right and stopped, they would have avoided all that. What they should’ve done 7:45 ; There was a few FHP in right side traffic non Express, they should have gone about a quarter mile ahead, traffic break (rolling road block) causing all normal traffic to slow and allow a actual break in traffic to subside, therefore allowing FHP to do what was necessary. Where was the supervisor? This play should’ve been 1,000,000% called.

Executing a PIT maneuver on a busy freeway, making the fleeing car spinn around and hit another car which then hit another car. I feel a lawsuit coming from those drivers and the occupants in those cars. I would definitely have filed a lawsuit on that cop for negligence and endangerment.
