Great video, I just bought my first scooter, a very used one, it worked fine for a month but then it the engine started shutting off when I release the throttle, I decided to inspect it out of curiosity and I found out that the oil reservoir is empty and doesn't even have a hose attached to it, also I didn't found a battery in it, I just wanna know will it be fine without oil? Is it optional?

No if there was no hose connected to it previous owner must of just mixed the oil in the petrol tank

Hi Andrew, this is really helpful thank you! Fixing up my yahama yn50 neo in a similar state! Could you do a video doing a valve adjustment on the scooter please? I can't find the valve cover as it appears to look differently to other videos I've seen :)

Hi Catriona, if yours is a 2 stroke like this one, it won't have valves. But if it's a 4 stroke it will. Thanks and hope you manage to get yours back on the road.

I don't know for sure but if yours is a 2 stroke I'd imagine it'll be similar. I think the 4 stroke came out in 2006 so if you've got one of those, it's likely things will be different.

At that mileage i would be replacing piston rings and little end just to be on the safe side

Hi Andrew I’m getting a neo soon so is there anything I need to check when I get it

I would start with these: -Check automatic lubrication is working. -Check for rust underneath around centre stand and around tops of fork legs (kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJuUfZuKideDorc) -Make sure both wheels spin freely and the brakes aren't binding. Make sure the front brake pads aren't worn out whilst you're there. -Check the battery is being charged when the engine is running. If you want to get a bit more involved, you could check the thickness of the drive belt.
