If youre running flip up scope caps, laminate some round cards that fit inside the scope cap with your dope numbers. Print them, cut them out and then sandwich them between clear packing tape on the cheap. Its right in front of your eye, and unless you're running ACOG eye relief, youll be able to see it with the same eye youre shooting with.

I quickly learned what works and what doesn’t after my first few matches. Some guys however, are too stubborn to change some of their equipment. I swapped out my 1.93” mount to a 1.54” mount. I got an Arca rail piece by the barrel nut area and two pieces of Arca rail up front (keep the bottom of the Handguard as flat as possible without any VFG or hand stops). I left the middle open so I can grab the Handguard better. I also learned that the NX8 1-8 with the FC-DMx reticle is an amazing scope and works great for long range and also close range at my 3-gun matches, which was contrary to all the internet hate for it. As much as I love the setup that I have, I ordered a 4-16 ATACR and I’ll be competing in the SPR/DMR division next year.

A lot of people ditch their tall mounts, and also foregrips etc when they play this game.

I'm glad that you liked your NX8 with the FC-DMx. I just installed one on my 14.5 and am about to try it out!

This was really interesting and means a lot to me as a self trained shooter. I will be looking for more of this type of competition in my area.

Also. If you're running a top dot, factor that height over bore into your zero. My SPR pushes 75 gr HPBT match rounds from Hornady at 2900 fps. My top dot is at +4.75" over bore (measure from center line of bore to the center of the glass on your optic if you're unsure) and the zero i run is 75 yds. Its incredibly flat out to 300 with that combo, and running a 2 moa dot ensures you can cover a 6" target at 300 and score a hit.

My load is 23.7 grains of IMR 8208 XBR under those Hornady match projectiles with CCI small magnum rifle primers. Pressure IS above listed max for .223, so use that at your own risk. COAL is 2.235

Looking forward to coming across and taking the Scoped Carbine Course this Winter. For the Gas Gun Competition are you allowed to use a short stroke piston 5.56 like my LWRC M6? Or does it have to be a conventional DI? Tried to research the rules for the Precision Rifle Series, here in Florida, but didn’t really find an answer.

You can use a piston. This last Barrel & Hatchet match, some guys were using 5.56 AK’s. Just has to be semi, and 5.56

17:48 Why the velocity cap on 556 SPR? Would seem as though any 18/20 barrel would be pushing close to that 3200 cap? That's far from a race gun. And it's kind of the purpose of the SPR. Definitely fighting rifle territory.
@LtG510
@LtG510 Жыл бұрын
Could be so they don’t beat up steel targets too much. Really only certain 55gr and under would reach that velocity from a 20in.

Most of your heavy grain stuff like match 69 or 75-77 go about 2700 maybe in 28-2900 but that is rare and that’s out of an 18inch. The only Time we have ever seen a round break that 3200 FPS is when we ran M855A1 out of a mk12 and holy hell, it was HOT, it was clocking about 3150-3220 out of the chrono. However it was also shooting groups that we’re minute of man. So yea you can get the speeed but most of the time your BC and SD, will it be pretty, which makes it not the best choice for accuracy at distance.

@@barrelandhatchet I very much appreciate the timely and candid response. Thank you. I have set my rifle up to work with 55/62 grain common military rounds for compatibility reasons. I had always figured the 77 would be a welcome + in accuracy. Now I'll have to get some and give it a try just for fun.

If I have an M-Lok Magpul bipod, is there an attachment of some kind I can use to make it QD, or do I need to buy a new bipod entirely?

18.5oz handguard....why? You can get a much lighter Midwest Combat Handguard and add an arca rail and save half a pound.
