Come with us on the #TrailToSEMA 2019 , I'm pretty sure this is day 3 or maybe 4... I've lost track by now! On this episode we are in Big Bear California hitting some of the local trails with Powerstop brakes and many more KZbinrs and Influencers. We make many trips to big bear and arrowhead every summer. Fun times! Welcome to Calif where the tree huggers dont want to remove all the kindling! We had a bad bark beetle problem. They cut down the half dead trees but forgot to remove the forest fire wood

I loved it up at big bear, i did John Bull in my JKU when it was only leveled on 35s. Was challenging for that rig, but not terrible, didnt winch. Some people I crossed paths with gave me weird looks, since I also wheel alone, with my dog. All about finding the best line.

Thankfully when I and my cohorts were running around trails at Big Bear tere were no video cameras or cellphones. Our idea of big tires were 31" snow tires. Winches were expensive so jacks, logging chains, shovels and rock stacking got us through. I'm thinking that my kids are right, I'm getting old.

Matt : The trees appeared to have been recently cut, the branches still have green on them, but tree stump looks ancient. Sometimes they are cut because of disease. Really it beats shit out of me .

Those trees may have been cut down as a fire line. There are paratrooper firefighters that drop into active fires and cut back a line to prevent fires from spreading.

About 4 years ago we got a Liberty on 33x9..50 through John bull. The pine tree they might of cut it down because of the bark beetle infestation up there.

If they stay standing the environment out there may almost preserve them so then you'd have a 100' tall perfectly dried out piece of firewood waiting there for the next forest fire to come along.

The drive up to Big Bear during the dead of Winter sucks more than anything else. They shut down the 2nd lane because of snow and it's usually busy because everyone is heading up/down to go to the ski resorts. I hate that drive up/down.

Did you guys get a special permit to drive on the street? The streets in Big Bear, Gold mountain, and other roads and trails behind Fawnskin are designated for street legal vehicles only yet you had a number of vehicles that aren't. Just wondering how you made that work.

They cut the trees for falling hazzard. especially with fires if they are so dead, like on the inside is rotted. they might be completely hollow and burn from the roots up inside and the hole tree could be on fire and you may not even know. And they will eventually fall and you never even saw it coming. Just like the small tree that looked like it had a fire on the inside of it in the beginning of the video... Wild fires are very crazy

Trees were cut down because they are dead from bark beetles. Commifornia has anti logging rules so even forest service has to leave the downed trees where they lay.

Trees with dessies or infested with pests get fell by the forestry guys. They leave them where they fall and people can get a firewood permit to harvest the wood.
