sitting here in sunny ca watching. Fun to watch but not my thing to be there. I remember an old video posted by Colin where he and his friend went up in such conditions and the wind was howling. His buddy got out the tent to fix the guy line and the second he exited the tent, it ripped lose and blew away into darkness, off the side of the hill, and into the black abyss! He and colin decided it impossible to retrieve or get off the mountain, so they say cramped in colins tent till day light. Didn't find the tent, found his sleeping bag and various gear but not the tent. Weeks later another guy, on another video, found the tent with broken poles and posted his find. Few days later, someone said, that's colins friends and the tent made its way home. But, if his buddy were up there solo, it could have ended in a bad way. Dangerous conditions. You're one of my favorite guys on youtube Eddie, take care and happy new year I lost a tarp one very windy night at 10,000'-foot summit, just up and flew away. Impossible to retrieve but there were rock rings at the summit for emergency shelters from wind. Expensive lessons!

Yeah Alan winter not for everyone I've been in a few dangerous conditions but never overstep i think. Yeah your one of my favourite channels too. . TBH i got about 12 channels i keep up with. I don't have much viewing time now so i can only dip in occasionally to a channel. Several of the channels i really liked have given up the ghost last few years. Live long and prosper if possible nowadays, have the best 2023.

Aye am no surprised that the polis are wanting you two ha ha! But to be honest that was quite good of them especially up in that place in they conditions. -13 was the worst for me there just up the Munros on the other side of the car park was baltic with the wind chill and my camera like yours packed in was mental! Great film again Eddie the winter landscape was brilliant mate :) Happy New Year big man and we will all see ye when we see ye mate, peter. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Best wishes for 2023 Peter hope you get back oot regular. 3x there and still no made the plateau lol. Always too late setting off, next time i say we need to camp at 3,000ft first day then hesd to plateau next day rather than going somewhere else first. Despite the sking apparatus it is a great landscape. Should get oot with Stevie next week but we see what happens.

Great stuff Eddie! Always good to let people know what your plans are, especially in winter. Reminded me of my first winter camp back in 1972, it was the first week of March, no money for gear just 4mill plastic and some wool blankets. I made my pack frame from electric conduit and canvas straps. My next one was in 1973 up near Lake Superior and I had a goose down sleeping bag but still just 4mill plastic for a tent, we got over a foot of snow during the night and had to keep pushing up on the plastic to keep it off our faces. Each trip has a learning curve no matter how many times you go. Overcast and 33f here this morning and they say freezing rain turning to snow tonight with 3 to 6 inches by morning. Nice to see you and Mark out! Take care, Ossie
@ScotsWildcamper Жыл бұрын
Hi Ossie I've never camped with sort of homemade gear, it did the job. Not sure about a plastic tent TBH. Its been a very wet last few weeks not cold. I hope to get out next week, its forecasted so far to be a wet month. Yeah every trip a wee bit more experience to draw on. ATB.

We have been unseasonably warm since that cold spell at Christmas. We had a mix of rain and snow so now everything is icy. This is not the January weather of the 50's and 60's where we could see -20f for ten days in a row. It stayed 33f for 36 hours, crazy! Full moon tonight and typically we see a weather pattern change, all of my solar gear needs som sunshine, me too.
