Fun fact: in the comics this film is based on, Lucas Lee doesn't actually care to fight Scott - in fact, he's willing to take a bribe from him to let him live. The two end up just talking about how Ramona cheated on him. He then goads him into doing the deadly trick, winning the battle. Funnily enough, this is arguably the second most accurate fight to the comics despite this massive changes as all the other fights are drastically changed.
@tuturoo_014 жыл бұрын
Wasn't Bryan still writing the Comic, while the movie was in production? I feel like I heard that somewhere, that's also why they recorded the two endings. 1 where he ends up with Ramona and the other with Knives (Ramona was absolutely the right decision, Knives is too good for him) I also heard that Bryan and Edgar were working together, so ideas switched hands, and that's how the movie became what it is, and same with the comic
@SK91NO4 жыл бұрын
@@tuturoo_01 All 5 volumes the movie took from were already out by the time the film started being produced, the only one that wasn't was volume 6 and that came out around 3 weeks before the movie had its theatrical release so the changes I'm guessing were made in the best interest of not stretching out the run time and keeping the pacing
@محمدالميلادي-ط5ر4 жыл бұрын
How the the other fights went exactly in the comics ?
@adamandom4 жыл бұрын
@@محمدالميلادي-ط5ر ***Obvious Obligatory Spoiler Warning For the Books*** Matthew Patel is relatively the same, but the sex bob ombs help in the fight. They also take some of his lines so its more of a song battle (and Scott is the one who messes up the rhyming, not Matt). Lucas Lee was already covered. Todd Ingram was a LOT longer, and Ramona has to also fight Envy (their fight is reused in the film for the Roxy fight). Todd's fight involved going through an irresistible supermarket and a bunch of other petty things organised by Envy to annoy Scott. Crash and The Boys (the band from the Matthew Patel fight) help out in the final round, now cyborgs with super powers. At the end, its revealed Todd cheated on Envy with the drummer, Envy knees him in the balls, and the Vegan Police show up before Todd can kill Scott. They cite him eating Chicken Parmesan on his affair with the drummer and he gets deveganised and headbutted by Scott. He gets a one up here instead of at the Katayanagi Twins. Roxy Richter's fight takes place on the streets, Subspace (a concept almost entirely removed from the film) and Ramona's house. She is also a "ninja delivery girl" like Ramona, and uses a sword. Pretty sure Ramona fights her for the first half at least. It ends up being a three man fight as Knives' father shows up to kill Scott, but leaves after he earns his respect. It ends with Scott pulling out the Power of Love Sword and cutting her in half. Katayanagi Twins weren't EDM artists, they were asshole robotics experts who sent robots after Scott. They talked a lot more in the Comics. They kidnapped Kim to lure Scott into an alleyway and he gets beaten up. Kim makes up something about how Ramona sent him a text apologizing or something and the Katayanagi Twins are caught off guard at the prospect of Ramona having actually changed. Scott takes advantage of this and defeats them with dual knees to the face. Gideon is very strange. Its still in the chaos theater, but I cant remember the details. Ramona isnt mind controlled with a microchip, rather, Gideon has afflicted her with "the glow" which pretty much traps her in her own head with her own personal problems like regret, sadness and anger. He also affects Scott and thats why the two argued all the time. Its visualised by their heads glowing yellow and is brought up pretty early on (i think theres a small reference to this in the movie). Ramona tries to escape with Subspace, but is stabbed by Gideon who them enters her mind. Scott follows and frees her by going into her bag (which is how the hammer fits btw, the bag itself is subspace) and headbutting Gideons giant god form giving him the glow and returning him down to normal size. Gideon goes in to slash Scott but Ramona pulls them all out of subspace and blocks the attack with her bag, splitting it in half and causing all her stuff to go flying throughout the Chaos Theater. Ramona gets fully healed and Scott uses his one up and the two X slash him with the Power of Love and Power of Understanding swords (which is gotten after Scott finally understands that he and Gideon are similar and that's why he has to die). Nega Scott comes earlier in a removed scene where Scott does some soul searching in the woods. Instead, Gideon reveals his collection of 6 cryogenically frozen women that he wants Ramona to be a part of. His failed "league of exes". The books end with Scott and Ramona having nothing in life and deciding to move to New York together. Side Notes: Gideon was able to manipulate the memories of Scott. He made up the story of Simon Lee (Kim Pine's ex that he had to "kill a 100 dudes to get to). Simon was just a regular nerd that Scott bullied which is partially why Kim dislikes him so much. Subspace is pretty much like a dreamspace. In the film its said that Ramona "appears in Scott's dreams" and that is actually entirely true. Scott sleeps during the day and his head is empty, so Ramona uses his subspace bubble to travel more efficiently. Thats why he saw her. Knives loses interest in Scott almost entirely past being friends in the books, as opposed to the film where she still wants him. Envy appears in the Chaos Theater instead of Sex Bob Ombs as they no longer exist. Envy's dress contains Gideons hidden sword. Lastly, Ramona is a massive hypocrite. She cheated on (almost) EVERY evil ex and us just as bad if not worse of a girlfriend as Scott is a boyfriend. The two are told that they are "made for eachother" because of this and stay together.

Is it just me? Or is Lucas actually a REALLY nice guy? He actually seems like he was concerned for Scott's safety and didn't want to kill him. While he's certainly okay with beating him up, it's obvious that Scott is enjoying it, and it seemed like Lucas was holding back on what could've been a much more lethal beatdown. He's also the only ex that asked Ramona how life is for her. Everyone else either tried to control her or tried to ruin her life harder, but he was cool about it rather than spiteful! And thing is, the ONLY reason he got dumped was because she was starting to see Todd at the time, which would actually give him an even bigger reason to hate her than the other exes! Not to mention he warned Scott about the League of Evil Exes, which he wasn't really certain of before, which can be seen as an indicator he wanted to let him know in advance. And he even helped him up after kicking him through the sign instead of going further while he was down! The whole time he seemed like he wanted to scare Scott away through intimidation instead of actually killing him. Honestly, Lucas isn't evil at all. He's an unspoken hero of this movie. I just gotta say Scott vs The Stunt Team was probably the best fight scene I have ever seen
@Coconut_Prrson3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Too bad it took to much time and replaced the scene of Scott and Lee drinking a coffee and talking. This scene is extremely cool but the talking scene is the first step to both Ramona and Scott's relationship's developement as well as also making the exes seem more human instead of cartoony villisns. I think they had enough time for both scenes
@KerMaWaffLe2 жыл бұрын
@@Coconut_Prrson it already took many creative liberties with Brian O Malley’s blessing. Instead of being more dramatic and heavily focused on relationships. It instead went for a more action packed movie with the focus of relationships on the side. All in all, this movie is amazing for what it is and with the comic in mind it just a different version of the same story
@clausrobinson9554 жыл бұрын
Just noticed how scott only defeated 1 ex by himself.he outsmarted Lucas and Todd causing them to basically defeat themselves,he needed Ramona's help for the fourth one(I forgot her name),He needed Stephen and Kim for the twins,and he needed knives for gideon.the only person he beat 1 on 1 with no help and with only brute force was matthew.
@AxleTrade2 жыл бұрын
Imo that still makes Lucas and Todd 1v1 fights Scott won. Outsmarting and manipulating your opponent counts.

I like that Lucas doesn't really care who Ramona is dating (compared to the comic where he has a grudge against her), he pretty much joined the league just so he can have an excuse to give someone a beating. I also love how he respects his stunt team and even asks them if they want coffee or anything.
