Great interview, I saw an interview with Glen years later where he talked about the tension between John and the rest of the band, like for example 2 tour buses - one for John and another for the rest of the band. fave moments: Steve saying 'don't be predictable' to Paul. And when the interviewer says '...will this progress into anything beyond a tour?' Glen says 'can't see it, really' instantly. Glen reminds me of an elongated Dudley Moore, in appearance - there was a nutty idea going round once that the Earth experiences fluctuations in gravitational pull which (supposedly) accounts for the varying heights of persons. Glen could portray the low-grav Dud in an illustration of said concept. Steve said 'concept' just as I typed that! Plate o'shrimp! God bless Malcolm.

"revert to vikings"
@mattiassvanberg8292 Жыл бұрын
Not in Finland so much.
@linuxsauna2 ай бұрын
@@mattiassvanberg8292 The "vikings" originated from Finland / Vinland / ancient Odenmaa (Uudenmaa). The concept is about Vi=we kings= "are the kings now". Only certain folks was supposed to breed back in the day by a natural order. Lemminkäinen ("the one who breeds") was the main bloke. Val-halla ("the choosing space") was / is located in front of modern day Hel-sinki (one of the islands) . "Hel" was the central place of Odenmaa. There is still a museum there to this day. Root= the language people nowadays call as "finlandsvenska" was the first language of mankind. It is a "genetic" language - just like you know how for example birds "just know how to sing". A very basic sound base thing. The first human created (and more descriptive, poetic if you like) language was / is Van ("one") which is nowadays known as "Finnish" or "Suomi". This Van language includes so called Root-keys. In Finnish the "swedish language" is called "ruotsi" - in estonian: "rootsi". The ancient connection there. Well, there was this ancient breeding system in Finland (from where ALL of humanity originated from - FInland / Odenmaa (Oden is the sun and Maa means land) was a tropical place before the Ice Age) - but the catholic church (after destroying the original culture of Europe) eventually reached Finland (the last pagan domain). All know the rest of it. Other Nordic countries had been converted to "christianity" already. An ancient account (and others) exist of that ancient Odenmaa and Vinland (Finland) culture: The Bock Saga (set in motion by Ior Bock - the last Bock or "Pukki" - breeder. But it is (of course ridiculed by the mainstream history consensus / media). Basically we're all in bit of a trouble these days in means of people power, no matter where ya from, really. Cheers.

John always acts like he doesn't care but then he turns around and talks as if he has something to prove about how important and influential the Sex Pistols are. It's a little annoying but interesting to see that he very much always cared about how they were perceived. For the most part, John's schtick really is all such an act. And in a situation like this, he has to flip on the "Rotten" switch and give everyone what they expect from him. It's also a wall he puts up due to his insecurities.
@ndogg20 Жыл бұрын
Kind of sad that he has to do this act for a living and live on past accomplishments. But he can be intentionally or unintentionally funny as hell with claims that if not for him then Hip Hop wouldn't exist.

It's pretty clear that back then it was about using the nostalgia effect to make a few lousy bucks. The thing would have been much cooler if they had played new songs or produced new albums back then. But that's not what the whole thing was about. The Pistols stood for something completely new and original in their time. Instead, in the 90s they simply warmed up the whole thing a bit and that was it.

For the Glasgow SECC gig, I stood up the back of the venue, as I looked around the crowd trying to spot any music biz people, a lady wandered through the crowd and stood right next to me, it was John's wife Nora, she seemed very happy, dancing a little, really enjoying the gig.💃

I remember Steve saying on his radio talk show a few years ago, (the one where Paul was on as a guest) that the band peaked too soon. They were just beginning to find their sound, but then they were catapulted into stardom as a result of the Bill Grundy show. On reflection he felt that was the beginning of the end. Overnight their 'exaggerated' reputation went before them and council's up and down the country wouldn't let them play in the local venues. Kind of ironic John going on about fossil Mick Jagger considering that the Pistols reforming in 1996 was 20 years after their initial break-thru. When the Pistols first formed, the Stones had been together for a little over 11-12 years. John was later kinder to Mick in his memory that Jagger had helped Sid find a lawyer when 'whatever happened there' went down with Nancy. Obviously, It's not true that nobody cared for the Pistols when they first arrived on the scene. I was in my last years at school in 76 and 77 and everyone was impressed by them for being cocky, loud-mouthed and unapologetic. Pop or Rock Music needed them and it was a refreshing change for the scene as it was then. Bollocks and Swindle both sound fresh today as they were back then, and of course, it did open the doors to the punk/new wave/electric era. In this interview he comes across as a caricature of Johnny Rotten. It's like he's trying to be edgy but in a polite way.
