Maybe they can add a firmware update to have an option with a button press sequence so you can change the shut off time or turn that feature OFF until you change it back.

For active pick ups, it may depend on the shielding inside the guitar. I’ve used this many times in rehearsal and on one local gig with my Modulus Quantum bass - active Bartolini PUs and an Aguilar pre-amp - and it’s very clean. YMMV Highly recommend this. Glad I found them on Scott’s channel

Just ordered my NUX. I also noticed your Babicz guitar. I lived in Poughkeepsie NY just a few blocks away from where Jeff Babicz started to build guitars. I have a jumbo acoustic from 2006 that Jeff built before he started outsourcing to Indonesia. I love it. It’s unconventional but that’s what I like about it. Thanks for your review makes me glad I chose this NUX model.

Got myself the 2.4 GHz B-5RC a couple of weeks ago and I'm super happy with it. Can't believe I was clinging to that stupid cable for so long. So far, not a single issue with interference in our pretty wifi-crowded rehearsal space. And yeah, that charging case is a game-changer. Fits perfectly in a Gator case and is just so, so , so convenient. I would go with the 5.8 GHz version if I had to buy it again now though but... okay.
@ScottUhlMusic

Hey, if your 2.4ghz system is working great (mine has too), then stick with it! It’s definitely the best 2.4ghz system I’ve used. Both are great, I just personally have had much better experience with 5.8ghz. Although… You could always get a second one too just in case 😊

@@ScottUhlMusic Yeah, thanks. That's what I needed. More ideas to spend money on. ;) But seriously... if things are getting more serious, it's sure as hell that I'll be getting a second system at some point. Those NUX are not the cheapest ones around, but imo they are clearly worth the extra money. BTW, have you figured out why they put that rubber bumper on the side that is NEVER facing the guitar body?

Thanks for the review. I've been using the Joyo JW-03 for a while and been very happy with it until our band started to get more wireless devices with wireless guitars, IEM's and the 2.4G router for the digital mixer along with various IPads and other near field wireless devices. Now the Joyo experiences a lot of that flutter you hear when another wireless device is interfering or on a frequency that is too close. Now that we're using in ears, the flutter and odd sputter is very obvious and highly annoying. Time for something different and I think the Nuxx C-5RC is the answer. As for the Joyo wireless, the only difference between it and a 15 foot cable is that the cable is ever so slightly louder with only a little less compression on the signal. Sound and tone and frequency pass through is actually slightly better than a cable. I hope the Nuxx c-5RC is at least that good. All these guys who say that these small dongle style wireless units are not professional grade, are obviously not professional guitarists. I have used my Joyo wireless for large scale major venue highly paid professional gigs without an issue and 0 tone degradation. On a large stage the interference is minimal if at all which is a plus. I get the most interference on small crowded stages where everyone is a few feet from one another. You don't need Shure or Sennheiser at $700 a pop to get a professional road worthy highly reliable wireless guitar system anymore. The only reason the famous guys are using all high end packs is because they can and when you are out there making a couple hundred grand a night, a few Shure/Sennheiser systems in your rig isn't really an issue. For the rest of us who aren't quite there yet, these Nuxx and others work very well, are inexpensive and perfectly suited for a wireless solution.

Just be careful… when you start using too much cheap and budget friendly wireless all at once, that’s where you can run into problems. Watch my video here: Choosing the Right WIRELESS SYSTEM - A Comprehensive Guide kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpqVe5aDpNKdh5I I did the same thing when I started using wireless, which I address in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpjaammojpmHd8Usi=Qb6mwI-H1brbG0US The higher end stuff is definitely worth it for many reasons, and you’ll see why in those videos. great review :) this is my first wireless guitar system and i really like it.. works perfectly but there‘s one thing about it: if you’re a fuzz player like me it’s unusable in many cases.. fuzz pretty much wants to be first in the chain and the nux will not even turn on when attached to the fuzz :/ even if i put the fuzz later in the chain or through the fx loop it will sound really bad and muddy and the volume control clean-up will not happen.. i mean you can get very clear and nice sound out of the nux if you re willing to play without fuzz :) this was just my experience and i hope it will help someone ✌🏽

I’m glad you mentioned the power off after 10 minutes. I play keys in this band mostly but switch to acoustic or electric for a couple of songs in our set. I’m looking for something I can use with my acoustic that I'm guessing the output is most like an active pickup. like your singer you mentioned, the swift system i have cuts out when i use it with my acoustic. given how little i play acoustic it can easily be 10 minutes between the start of a set and when i play acoustic. i cant have it shut off then!!

Thanks for another great and thorough review! Do both the 5.8 and the 2.4GHz systems have the same 10-min auto-shutoff? And does it shut off both ends (transmitter & receiver)? Just trying to consider how much of a disruption it would be to have to re-power it on during a set.

This interest me. I had my mind made up to get the XVive 2.4 but this not only has that cool case and 5.8, but that mute bottun is a big deal to me . @@ScottUhlMusic so have you done any experiments to see if there is any correlation be tween time and the receiver also shutting off? Can you run the receiver while it is plugged in to a charger? If so, does that affect if the receiver also mutes after a certain time or just the transmitter mutes?

Question...if i plug the transmitter into my tuner, which is my first pedal, does the mute function of the pedal still kick in? When you put the receiver and transmitter back in the case, it starts charging. Unfortunately, batteries become bad when you charge them too often. Charging stops when the two are fully loaded, but what happens if you leave them in the case after they're fully charged? Batteries will lose power when you don't use them. Will the case start charging again, or will it wait until you start the knob on the outside? What is the best way to save battery life?

I have a Mooer 2.4ghz Wireless System and it is bad. Some times I hear a hiss sound on the background. I don't think that it mess with the instrument sound but is not good at all. Another thing that annoys me is the noise reduction that has a little delay to start the sound from 0db and cuts it at the very end of the sustain, like a noise gate. The battery doesn't last so much also. In two gigs, I had to stop and plug cables to keep on. So, is NUX C 5RC reliable on this points? The delay at the start of the sound is unacceptable...

Hi Scott! Question, Is this system True stereo ? Or It use the second ring to get charged? Cause i have an eletric Guitar with passive piezo and wiring with humbuckers and single coils, with a stereo female jack on the Guitar. i can switch a/b/ ab so only pickups , 50/50 with piezo and only piezo, right now im using a stereo jack to dual mono with helix, Will this system gave me wireless on the 2 channels? Maybe using an adapter to dual mono in the receiver? If not, do you suggest anything that can help me out?
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think there is a wireless that is “true stereo.” I actually looked because I wanted one to go out of an iPad and still send a panned signal of left and right for backing tracks. The only way I’ve seen a true stereo wireless setup is to use two wireless. I’ve seen that with Opeth and Rodrigo y Gabriella live.

My ammoon finally busted after a year and a half of use. Thinking of getting this one. When it goes into sleep mode after 10 minutes, do you have to just hit the button on the transmitter and it all wakes up? Or do you have to hit the button on both of them? Cheers

It’s usually just the transmitter that needs to be woken up. Every now and then the receiver goes to sleep though, but it’s usually just the transmitter. This system is awesome! But that’s the one thing I wish I could change on it

Value for price. If I spent $50-$100 on a wireless that lasted 2 years, and then I had to replace it because the internal battery eventually died, I would say it’s a great deal. And it’s still cheaper than an entry level Shure/sennheiser. You still got a great deal!

You’re out of your mind if you think this is an acceptable wireless for major live gigs. The signal drop, like most all wireless systems is so bad with this thing it is unusable for anything but practice. The loss of EQ that you get is so apparent, anyone with precise hearing should notice. Either you are lying for the sponsor or you really don’t have much of an ear at all. Anyone reading this - do not buy if you plan to use in a professional setting.
@ScottUhlMusic

I have taken this thing to multiple gigs. All of my gear I try out multiple times before using it live. That included the shows down in Dominican Republic I mention in this video (and have footage of). This thing worked fantastic! Not all cheap wireless will work for everyone’s setup, and I mention that ad nauseam in my videos. For you, and your exact setup, and your exact preference on tone, this didn’t work for you. If you are a “tone snob/purist” you should not be looking at cheap wireless. That’s on you to understand. I like gear that works (this one works amazing for me at every gig I’ve used it at), and I do not hear any tone loss with my setup. I still highly recommend this wireless. 👍
