I bought a sump pump from Home Depot 8 years ago with a lifetime warranty. It went bad after 3 years and Home Depot replaced it but they replaced it with one with a 2 year warranty as they no longer offer the lifetime warranty one. This one has been going for 5 years so if it fails, I have to pay for a new one.

I believe the ones that were redesigned after 2016 or in 2016 are built better the crappy Nissans were the ones built from 2001 to 2015 and they were trying to save money in order to sell more to make money so they didn’t go bankrupt in the early 2000s. I but anyways I believe Nissan’s quality is higher now how much higher I don’t know it might only be slightly but I do believe the quality is better now than it was then I was even better in the 90s than it is now.

All the new vehicles are absolutely beautiful and marvels of technology and great to drive with every convenience but they are over engineered and way beyond the most experienced technicians at the dealership. When you hear the phrase come from the Service Mgr "that's normal, there all like that, don''t worry about it." That means they don't have the expertise to analyze and repair a problem. I have 3 cars, an 05 Titan truck, simple V8 and 4 speed auto, an 06 Accord with the 2.4l bullet proof engine4 and 4 speed auto and an 18 RAV4 Hybrid with the old style port injected 4 cylinder. Yes it is a Hybrid but nobody does hybrids better than Toyota. My advice, try to find a used vehicle , low miles with tried and true technology if you can find one.

Keep your eyes on Nissian…. They are making a pitch to get back in the car game! They already have great technology for example G-TR and the new resigned Frontier Truck V6 no turbo.. The 2022 Sentra is also a great mileage car 29 to 39 miles per gallon and the CVT has not been in issue for years now. I’m a Toyota guy but, very impressed with the details of the vehicles example lines of the cars are straight & great paint. Those lifetime warranties from dealers are a scam. Usually, they make you sign your service away to them. If they say something needs to be serviced, at any point, you have to do it and pay for the wearable items, or it voids the warranty (i.e. cabin air filter,... you need new tires because they seem low to US). Over the lifetime you pay for way more than you need. They are basically service contracts with the dealer and if you slip 1 time it voids the warranty. It a trap you can't get out of. It was all over the news here in Georgia a few years ago. It could be different from what I've seen, but I doubt it

If the warranty is backed by the dealer- its only as good if the dealer is still in business when the time comes. Also it up to them to determine if the issue at hand is a defect or owner neglect .

We bought my wife a brand new 2015 Rogue SL and I have done all the appropriate maintence myself including changing the CVT fluid every 30k miles from the start. The vehicle has been very reliable and we haven’t had a single issue with it except the around view camera mounted under the passenger side rear view mirror went bad so I picked up a used one on eBay for $50 instead of paying Nissan $700 for a new one. The vehicle currently have almost 100k miles on it and we have been very happy with the purchase so far. Of note: My wife drives it in ECO mode all the time and she is a mild mannered driver so the CVT is not being abused.

you are referring to the rogue. for some reason a lot of people spell it rouge- and sometimes they actually call it that. good on you for servicing your CVT every 30K and seeking out/finding an 'experienced' mirror/camera for less. do you or your wife use both feet to drive it? the CVT control unit or 'brain' can recognize that and you can actually preclude the downshifting mode at lower speeds by using the brake pedal lightly while on the throttle with your right foot. just one of several tips you can use to maximize your nissan CVT-equipped car's fuel economy. of course- being a non-aggressive driver helps a bunch in that regard, as well. enjoy!

This is called the Nissan X-Trail for the rest of the world. Really popular car, one of their best selling compact SUV's to date. Still running the old first gen X-Trail, the T30 with the QR25DE NA engine. Awesome car since it's a car born before the Nissan CVT fiasco, it has a conventional AT transmission.

We bought a new 2021 Rogue SV last year. Same exact new body style as this one, but I guess the turbo charged 3 cylinder engine wasn’t ready yet, so they stuck with the 4 cylinder engine for just that one model year. Interesting decision, but I’m glad they did. 33,000 miles on it so far, and it purrs like a kitten. CVT feels as good as any decent automatic I’ve driven (edited to remove ‘shifts,’ as one reply correctly pointed out), so no complaints there. Gas mileage is still good…not quite what the 3-cylinder can do, but we get anywhere from 32-34 mpg on the highway. For the piece of mind knowing we have an engine that’s actually serviceable, I’ll take that over the new tech any day. We also opted for the extended warranty *just in case* something goes wrong with that new CVT, but so far, no issues. I can’t say much for 2022 and up with the fancy turbo charger, but if you’re looking to buy used, I HIGHLY recommend the 2021 model year. Very good vehicle!

I'd really like to read the fine print on that "lifetime transmission warranty". I can just about guarantee there's a lot of exceptions where the warranty will be void or the dealer will say "oh, that's normal". Replacing a transmission is no small job, so either Nissan is very confident this transmission won't have any problems (which I doubt, given how the previous versions have held up), or they have made sure there are so many exceptions they won't have to change practically any transmissions for free. Mind you this is a car company that's been on the verge of bankruptcy for years.

Nissan has been working on VC for the past 25 years. They were even working on it in the days before Renault took over. This 1.5L turbo 3 though for what it is, it’s overall impressive. 201 hp/225 lb Ft is nothing to sneeze at. GM’s 1.3L turbo 3 by comparison, only makes 155 hp/176 lb Ft. Ford’s 1:5L turbo 3 at 180 lb/203 lb Ft and Ford’s is nowhere as smooth or vibration free. Just wish Nissan went dual injection with it. The fat it only needs regular fuel is a plus too. Hopefully the redesigned JATCO CVT-X (as it’s called) will hold up but seeing it was designed for this engine, it should, proper maintenance is the key still too.

Don’t be fooled by the “Lifetime Powertrain Warranty”. It requires that a list of services in the owner’s manual be performed on time. Took my wife’s 2022 Pathfinder in for service at 18k miles. Told the dealer to do the 15k and 20k services listed in the manual. It required brake and transmission services be done among several others. All said and done it was gonna be $900 for it all. I said no way. The service manager said he’s seen Nissan deny that lifetime warranty over a late cabin filter replacement. BTW, the transmission fluid for the 22 Pathfinder 4WD is $50 a quart! The service manager also said he wouldn’t bother to do the service schedule in the manual because much of it is unnecessary and you’ll end up paying for the new engine/transmission in needless service fees before you ever use the warranty to replace said engine/transmission.

I had a 2016 Nissan Rogue that I purchased new. The dealership offered "lifetime" engine warranty and free oil changes. That lasted about 2 years. Also had a class action lawsuit about the transmission so the warranty on the transmission was extended. Did all maintenance at the dealer. At 58,000 miles the transmission started to fail, took it to the dealer thinking it would be a relatively straightforward warranty replacement. How wrong I was. They initially said it was the transfer case, which they replaced at a cost of $2700. Transmission was still slipping when they test drove it after, so they replaced the transmission under warranty. After that debacle, I traded the Rogue in for a Toyota Rav4 and I am much happier. I will never buy another Nissan. I doubt the new Rogues can go 100,000 miles without major repairs on the engine or transmission.

Ours has 30,000. One glitch with the computer that put it in safe mode. Other than that, no issues. No squeaks and rattles.
