The reliability of this car is insane, I bought it brand new in 2014 and still have it after almost 8;years without a single issue, just change oils and do tire rotation, I’m also taking it some times to off roads, maybe because of it light weight and 18 tires it really do a good job out there

Well I took it to my mechanic and he checked it out, told me to stand fast about the dealer replacing the 3engine mounts and front struts were leaking needed replacing. So I did, the Nissan dealership is fixing both. Pat said this is a vehicle that will last 300,000 as long as I keep up on maintenance. I live in Az, the summer heat is extremely hard condition so it's important to have a reliable vehicle. I pick it up later today. Lol I'm a grandma with demon spawn grandkids lol I need it toddler and pre- teenagers proof reliability.

I love my 2010 Rav4 with the "ugly tire on the back" 😅. Having the tire on the back gives me an extra secret storage area that no one is the wiser about! I can fit all my work stuff in it.
@gjw45
@gjw45 4 жыл бұрын
Yep, me too. I have the 2007 model, and I use the secret storage space more than any other feature on the car. Not only for storage and hiding things, but when I rip the lid off, I can fit 2 Mountain bikes inside with ease, as long as the wheels are turned sideways. I was going to update a few years ago, but I have decided to keep and run this car into the ground. It's great for my lifestyle at the moment, which is cycling....and a lot of taking the dog to the beach. The newer ones are not an option for me at this stage. Anyway, having newer cars suck. You always have to worry about them and where you park them, I don't think I will buy new ever again.

I chose a 2016 RAV4 SE over a 2017 CR-V. The main reason why is because of the 2.5L & 6 Speed auto. CR-V has everything I was looking for, but that 1.5T & CVT was the deal breaker.

Two things: I LOVE the styling on the original Rav4. I think it looks way cooler than then new ones. They had a rugged, adventure vehicle look to them. I also prefer the tire on the outside, but I am an old school SUV fan and the tire on the outside is OG. Rav4's are great vehicles so we definitely agree there.

My first RAV4 I bought used without checking with a mechanic. I later took it to a Toyota/Lexus-only mechanic. It had been run for tens of thousands of miles without an oil change. The mechanic kept it running for some years for me, using heavier oil and a bit of care. I can’t recommend doing what I did, but the engine did hold up despite earlier abuse...

Actually, the 2006-2012 RAV4s (the last ones with the spare tire outside) were the only ones that had the option of the third row seating. They also offered the 3.5 liter 255 hp V6 as an option that isn't available on any other gen RAV4. The V6 version is fast! To me, the seats are too hard for me to be comfortable on the newer RAVs (2013 and newer). You're right though: RAVs are crazy reliable.

Cherry Picker Guitars Yep in the US they say it's predicted 100000-120000 miles Which is terrible, I had a 2011 camry (got in 2014) and pit 290K on it by 2018 And still regret selling it, it would've lived at that Subarus life three times... And now Toyota has a new AWD system in the RAV4 That will be all terrain worthy In the higher trims so Subaru is it really going to be fighting for cars

I’ve just done 30000 miles in my year old 2018 RAV4 hybrid. The CVT is so relaxing to drive on the motorway and in town traffic jams. The suspension is quite soft and a little wallowy round corners. But it is comfortable. When you drive every day and do 30000 miles a year that’s what matters. It is not a sports car. If you want sporty driving buy a sports car,

I read a press release by Toyota saying that beginning with their 2020 model hybrids, they were increasing the warranty on the batteries from 8 years/100,000 miles to 10 years/150,000 miles (240,000 KM for Canadians). That's significant. Something to think about for people in the market for a new car/hybrid. That clearly shows how much confidence Toyota has in the increased reliability of their batteries.

I agree 100% i bought a 2012 Rav4 from Hertz with 21k on it. Today over 175k and still going strong. Changed plugs, oil, brakes, belt and O2 sensors, oil and air filters only. Did transmission oil at 100k & 150k. I use it every day for service work with five to eight stops a day. Think of how many times i have started up that car. I have taken it to Maine many times on hunting trips in horrible weather with snow and ice on back country logging roads. I only use Yokohama AT-S all terrain tires. They always go 50k and nothing can stop them. As a matter of fact i need to order two more soon. Using oil now at an accelerated rate but nothing that i can't live with.

I’m so grateful and happy about Rav 4 design...I bought a 2000 RAV4 L, 5 speed manual trans in 2001, it had 14k miles, and now near 20 years later it’s had zero problems. Zero. I really appreciated the problem-free nature of Rav4. Now it has racked up 208k miles, and all I’ve ever repaired is brakes, battery, tires, just the usual maintenance, and even forgot to change oil on time occasionally. This vehicle is truly bulletproof. My only regret is didn’t find one with leather upholstery, as my dogs and kids throughout the years have done upholstery wear, and other regret is that I never upgraded the sound system. (Minor things and unrelated to performance or durability.) I’m thinking I’ll drive it to 300k and consider buying another! It’s been a great car for hauling and the roof racks have held huge items. I’m an artist and a scavenger. This car has been a workhorse for me.

I have a 2011 (2.5 2AR-FE) AWD and a brand new 2021 XLE AWD RAV4. Both are excellent! A few thoughts, if I were buying one from each of the various generations this very minute: The first generation models are too old at this point and way too high mileage and especially around here. The second generation had too many consistent problems, between ECU early on and 2AZ engine later on. The 3rd generation, while problematic early in it’s run, is rock solid after the 2009 refresh especially. My 2011 is of this updated vintage and no major problems to speak of. The 4th generation is mechanically sound, but physically looks too feminine for my liking. Your tastes may vary. The 5th generation looks back to form physically with the more rugged and masculine appearance. By the 2021 model year, the initial bugs have apparently been worked out and my 2021 XLE has been great so far. We will see what the future holds, but early experiences have been excellent!
