i've said it before and i'll say it again. I own a dodge truck but I won't own a ram truck. Infact I wouldn't buy any new truck they are all garbage. 40 years certified mechanic. Stellantis or GM isn't the problem. The problem is our unhealthy economy. Inflation has gone up over 20% which means Stellantis' cost have gone up over 20%. On top of it interest rates are high. People don't have extra money and these companies must raise prices, if that doesn't work they have to lower quality to save cost. Get dems out of office and things will improve.

I am in the automotive production industry, as an independent integrator/designer/engineer/programmer/builder of machinery. The insanity I've seen in the last 5 or 6 years is beyond a normal person's comprehension. The Engineers and Designers at these big Tier 1s (the people who design the cars and all the parts involved) are not living in the real world at all and have zero hands on experience. Newer vehicles not only are completely screwing buyers, they are screwing mechanics, and the people the who make the parts. We went through 3 engineering revisions of a simple stamped bracket that probably costs $15 to 20 to make. The engineering and tooling behind the production of said part cost a few million at least. They're all idiots now. I worked with a few old school engineers when I first started and never had any problems. I've always said if you have a good car built between late 80s and early 2000s (up to around 2010 2011 or so depending on the car/model/brand) KEEP IT ALIVE for all it's worth. The amount you spend on spare engines / parts is NOTHING compared to spending 72k on a new piece of crap you'll have to replace every 5 years. Also, Rust Proof as much as you can. Use old engine oil, Fluid Film, etc chainsaw chain oil if you want, but keep them alive because soon they are gonna be the only thing left. **EDIT: Never buy a Rivian product. EVER. Just trust me on this one.

I have a 2013 Ford F150 I bought brand new with the 5.0L Coyote V8. That was the best decision I’ve made. Only one warranty ticket and it was a defective key ignition switch. Turned in my Ford points and got an air deflector and 5 oil filters. The employee said, that’s a lot of filters. I said not really since I changed my oil every 6 months or 5K, so 2 filters a year. I also said, I’m keeping my truck for the rest of my life because I can’t afford a $80k truck on my retirement income. Paying that kind of money for a truck is ridiculous to begin with. I drove a 23 Power Boost and it was a bigger change from the 2023 model year. Not really a fan of turbos at my age and just one more thing to break.

Not really, if you look back 50 years. Chrysler/ dodge never could make it on their own . In the early 80s Lee Iacocca came from ford to pull them out of the grave. They were literally about dead. The little k car and the minivan he helped develop saved them . If you are old enough you will remember . If not they were cheap but well equipped little cars pick your color for a heck of a good price with a decent warranty They were not really long long life cars but folks could easly afford them. Then in the early 2000s they were in trouble again latching on to Diamler. Later Diamler booted them for being leaches. They made a statement that pretty much politely said that.

Recently there's a low oil pressure lite when the engine it hot and idling in 'drive' at a traffic light; in this instance the engine RPM is at it's lowest point. Next oil change I'm going to switch to 10W30 VS the 5W20 as recommended in the book. Hopefully higher viscosity will kill the dash light:) It does have several other ignorable dash lights but the electronic convenience doodads are still operable (power sliding doors, etc.). 23MPG interstate, about 20MPG for suburban driving. Stow/Go seating allows pick-up room for 4x8 sheets with the tail gate closed. I completely removed the roof rack after noticing some rust forming around the roof mount fasteners.

After watching scotty kilmer past videos you'll find that the top auto makers either build their vehicles in a foreign country's or build in USA or either own stock, make parts, or once made a particular brand etc. Example Dodge brothers used to make parts for Ford and later were part owners of Ford motor company and now it's Dodge product brand is now being produced by Co named stellantis. Ford Motors Co is an American based Co. However, Ford is owned by shareholders. It appears that auto maker American and foreign all own a % of each other's companies 🤔 😳.

They threw in an extra year of bumper to bumper warranty and free regular Maintenace as well to earn the financing. Took it home done and done a half hour after they closed that evening. You CAN dicker on a new car again! Had I wanted a 2024, I could have gotten 1.9% financing. But all they had left were in black and gray. Meh.
