That Ford powerstroke has the 7.3L engine it will out last and out pull that Chevy any day. Also should get 15- 19 miles to gallon of diesel. That thing is not even broken in yet at 250,000 miles and it's pretty bulletproof!

I have a 2002 F250 power stroke diesel with 75, 000 miles, I ordered and purchased new in 2002. I have done nothing to my truck except change the oil every 3,000 miles and change filters, I also changed the manual 6 speed transmission oil, rear end oil, and fuel filter several times. I personally maintain all my own vehicles and equipment.

I drive for FedEx Ground, & the batteries last 1 1/2 years - I am told. I am happy to say, I do not do the work on the trucks, clean up the windows, wipers, fill with fuel... but you make 100 to 200 or more stops a day, that can have an effect on your battery, & starter. My neighbor has a lawn service with about a half dozen Ford 7.3 early 2000s. I do a little maintenance on them,just changed two power steering pumps. About to upgrade a starter.

When we had our diesel trawler the mechanic said that with diesel you pay all of your fuel savings over buying a gas boat up front and then you pay extra on top for maintenance. I still liked the diesel in spite of the cost.

The 8100 Vortec was a hidden gem. I had one in a 2002 2500HD and put 230,000 on before I sold it (which I regret). It’s still running today, but as good as it was it wasn’t without its occasional problems. The two things I experienced was 1) crankshaft position sensor and 2) had to replace the cats at 110,000 because the engine burned oil from day one. Outside of that not a bad engine at all with big power. I’d take it over a 2007+ diesel any day.

I don't think there's much to be gained in torque in a stock 8.1 But I looked at the tune on the computer and it starts cutting fule and timing at 3600 rpms. I would think a tune to 5000 RPM would gain like a 150hp.

Diesel pickups are ridiculously overpriced these days, and diesel fuel prices are crazy volatile. 40 years ago sure, you could fill-up your K-10 at .69/gal. and the maintenance-costs weren't over the top.

When it comes to a heavy duty work truck I'm going diesel. Both the PowerStroke and the DirtyMax (Cummins too) had some bad engines that you want to avoid. Goes without saying to stay away from those.

Hey Master Scotty. I think that Ford has an extra battery for the electric powered/hydraulic towing and or plowing accessories. Some trucks the aux battery is kept separate from the rest of the truck electrical except for charging, and some can optionally be combined with the main battery to act as one. Keep it up scotty.

The GMT800 Vortec engines were all bulletproof. All sizes. The active fuel management and GDI is what ruined the brand for Chevy trucks.

At least my 30 year old is still running Most recent repair was a $34 2nd crankshaft position sensor Also known as the 3X Crank Position Sensor It will not trigger a code But your car will stall after running 10 minutes , and not restart until the motor cools off again The location of the sensor is on the firewall side of the crankshaft, necessitating the removal of the upper motor mount and pulling the motor forward to get to it. Once replaced, problem goes away completely, thankfully.

Is someone that hauls freight with a pickup truck for a living. I could tell you that with my gas truck, and a 30-ft trailer, 75% of the gas stations are not set up for you to be able to get to the gas pumps with that trailer on your truck. I have had to unhook my trailer before to get fuel which sucks. The other issue with the gas truck is the torque, yes my 2014 Chevy 6 l can tow more than my 2024 Chevy Duramax, but the Duramax is going to get you up to speed faster and uphills easier than the gas truck will.

You obviously haven’t driven it very far or worked it very hard yet. Diesel initial cost is higher and maintenance cost much more than diesels. Lots of problems the newer the vehicle is. You have to drive a ton of miles every year to make them pay.

I own a 2005 Toyota corolla 4 spd automatic. The issue is when i shift to drive or reverse the car rpm drops around 550 - 600rpm and my car takes 3 to 4 seconds to start while cranking. What could be the issue? Anyone help

Clean the throttle body. Watch PHAD with Ivan. You can't believe the difference. You have nothing to lose. I think brake clean will do a god job cleaning it.

If nuclear power is so safe, why do they always build them nearly one hundred miles away from a large city that needs the power. Why not build it right next door to the big city. All you need is a river and a shopping mall that closed down for space? The answer is obvious. Because they are not really safe, and would rather have it in somebody else's backyard, when something goes wrong,,,,,,,,,,

The Pickering Nuclear Power Station (Toronto Ontario Canada) is 50 years old and still working just fine. It started out in the Sticks and the city has grown up around it!
