Dear ScoutCrafter, you have given me a new lease on life. I was depressed and spent a lot of time in bed. After watching your videos I've been getting up at 5 AM and going to the swap meet, looking for tools, on my scooter, that I can clean up or repair. I've gotten about 5 bench grinders and a good assortment of tools. I look forward to the weather cooling off so I can spend time in the garage. Thank You, KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING. PS....Maybe I'll start another you tube channel for doing this.........

The screwdriver is an amazing transformation. As for the hammer, I envy the high school kid who made it. What a great learning experience it must have been. When I was in high school shop classes had been discontinued, as had the auto mechanics classes my older brother had been able to take. It was a mistake for high schools to eliminate these classes because they were an entry to the skilled trades. Now, we need more skilled tradespeople and they can make big money. We have oversold the value of a college education.

Love the way that screwdriver turned out ScoutCrafter. Wish I had a whole set of them with that color handles. Also, what ever happened to that face or mask whatever it was that you had. I remember you put a wig or glasses on it. To me it kind of looked like Robert Blake. Haven’t seen it since.

What a great video. Brought back memories of my days in shop classes in High School (wood, metal and electronics). One of our projects was to create an aluminum hammer. I made a meat tenderizer hammer and thought it was really swell. It had coarse threads where the shaft met the head. Of course the threaded receiver whole in the head was too shallow and the threads showed, the teeth on the face weren't equally spaced and the cross-hatching on the handle were too shallow. I gifted it to my Mom and of course she oohed and aahed over it and used it in her kitchen for decades. Our poor, long-suffering parents. Too bad a lot of schools no longer offer the industrial arts classes any longer.

I made one of those high school shop class hammers in 1978 and still use it today. My design is ball-peen but with a tapered shaft for balance and a hidden thread to attach the counter bored head. Knurled handle with a butt cap that unscrews and is a scribe or sheet metal punch. Running the taper attachment on the lathe was the best part of the project. We had around 10 South Bend lathes.

Yup still got the Center Punch I made in Jr. High on the Lathe, I used it Professionally in the Steel Business and I think after about a 100,000 Whacks with a Hammer I decided to retire it before I beat it up too much. It hangs right in the tool rack in my shop and I see it almost everyday..........I could tell right away the way that handle flared out that it wasn't comfortable, much better now I'm sure but I feel like a blade that size really needs an overall larger handle............Looks Cool Though !!

Great video 👍 Those tools you got from Resto-Rob are pretty cool. Like seeing the Dake in action. That bigger hammer head straighten up nicely with the Dake. Also the tiny hammer you straighten turned out great and cleaned up beautifully. You know that tiny little hammer reminds me of the hammer the doctor uses to test your reflexes 😂😂👍. That screwdriver 🪛 you redone turned out Fantastic. You really took that one over the top 👍. I like the red acrylic end you attached to the end of the screwdriver, it does look like it has a good fit in the hand ✋compared to the original version. I also like the Knurling you done, fantastic job! I have a couple of those Wiha screwdrivers 🪛 and they have a great feel in the hand 🤚, love using those screwdrivers for many of my projects. Great show. That little hammer looks like a little dental bone hammer, although I suppose it could be a toy hammer. I'll be watching Resto Rob's video as I have a big set of Klien linesman pliers to restore. The reason I never restored them is that I know that they are finger crushers (you know the thing where the pliers are prone to crush your fingers between the handles). Is there a solution to fixing finger crushing pliers? I did think about recurving the handles but wasn't sure if it is the right move.

Very cool! I knew you were going to thread the back and add something. I thought you might have added a golf ball, but the clear red is very cool! If the aluminum was cast over the shaft, that would explain why it was a little off kilter. For the bigger hammer, I can understand not wanting to change their design, but if you could have unscrewed the head from the handle, you could have turned the side with the upward angle into a ballpeen style head so it would not matter that its angle was off a bit.

Nice changes. Is it because of the video or is that machined hammer drilled a bit off center? Not knocking but that is where a teacher like Mr Pete would take the student aside and show how it should be done. I think a fixed mistake is more important than a perfect job. If you can fix a mistake you are at a high level of skill. Some day everyone makes mistakes. If you know how to handle it instead of throwing in the towel you are close to a Journeyman. Of course there are mistakes that just can't be fixed. I once did a job that took a whole month of work. Sent it for heat treat. It needed oil quench and the guy dunked it in water. Cracked it. I cut the remake time in half so I learned. Foreman was not happy.
